Tutoring review by Anna in Vienna, VA
The student continued to work on solving polynomials, graphing parabolas, finding the vertex, axis of symmetry, the roots of a parabola with and without transformations. We also worked on word problems involving cost/ revenue/ profit and area maximization. She has not trouble understanding the material. The extent of her mistakes is small transpositional errors, leaving a negative sign behind. We will work more on that in future sessions.

The student did his homework. It covered finding areas and perimeters of squares and rectangles. It also covered shapes formed by rectangles and square and then finding the area and perimeter of those new shapes. For added practice, I assigned him one page of homework covering the same area.

Tutoring review by Matthew in Vienna, VA
Today I was assigned a group of 3 young ladies. They were all very eager to learn and retained the info. They all needed help with quadratic functions. We talked about how to graph them, and how to predict what they would look like based on their equation. I noticed that the ladies all had a phobia of fractions and quickly wanted to use the calculators to change them to decimals. I will continue to help them release their fear of fractions. Two of them had issues with integers and knew the order of operations but forgot to apply. I will bring reinforcement exercises next session to help these concepts become second nature to them.

The student did very well today! We went through three phonics worksheets and read "Merry Christmas, Amelia Bedelia" and discussed it afterwards. I am very happy with her progress. Next week, we're going to play a big phonics game to help her review what she has learned so far.
