Wake Forest Tutoring FAQ

How much does Varsity Tutors cost for students in Wake Forest?

The amount that tutoring for students in Wake Forest will cost for you or your student at Wake Early College of Health & Sciences depends on factors such as how much help you need and the experience of the tutor. Each situation is unique, so there's no one-size-fits-all rate.

For example, if you sign up for sessions every week throughout the term to review what you learned in class that week, you may pay less per lesson than someone signing up for a few sessions of GMAT or MCAT test prep. Since so many variables come into play, why not speak with one of our Educational Directors to get more clarity?

Which tutoring subjects does Varsity Tutors offer for students in Wake Forest?

You can learn whatever you want with a private tutor for students in Wake Forest. We can help link you with a tutor who specializes in your subject, whether that's college math, React programming, or journalism.

If your student needs help with elementary-grade reading, we can assist you in your tutor search as well. You can learn a language like French for work or Spanish as a hobby or for travel. You can even prepare for professional certification in data science, cybersecurity, accounting, or another field with the assistance of a personal instructor. Test prep for exams ranging from elementary school math tests to the ACT to the LSAT is popular as well.

Why choose Varsity Tutors for tutoring in Wake Forest?

Getting connected with a tutor found by Varsity Tutors is the best way to ensure you will be meeting with a qualified instructor who has been pre-vetted and who can work with you 1-on-1. We use a proprietary matching process to match each student with the best instructor for their needs.

When you first sign up, you will get a chance to discuss your needs with one of our Educational Directors. Don't hold anything back - tell us all about your learning goals, current skill levels, and where you want to go. We will craft a lesson plan just for you, which your instructor can always adjust as needed. You can enjoy full flexibility, personalization, and convenience.

During your private learning sessions, you can ask questions immediately as they come to mind. Real-time feedback can help you avoid letting bad habits take root. For example, if you are practicing Italian with a native speaker, they can correct your pronunciation mistakes in real-time. A private instructor can prepare you for upper-level learning or keep your skills sharp during summer or other vacation months so you can reenter classes with more confidence. While studies suggest that students who learn with private instructors tend to get better grades, the reality is that the benefits of private instruction extend far beyond that, so get in touch with Varsity Tutors to get started.

When your child is struggling in school, it’s vital to find help. Catching problems early can prevent minor misunderstandings from becoming bad academic habits. However, if the only study aids your student receives are review workbooks, he or she won’t receive the feedback needed to prevent problems from snowballing. When you choose private tutoring, your child gets individual attention with immediate feedback. Tutors can customize lessons to keep your child engaged while he or she works to overcome academic challenges. Varsity Tutors can help you find the best possible Wake Forest tutor for your child's needs. Face-to-face via in-person or online sessions, your son or daughter can learn in an environment that’s free of the distractions and pressures present in a typical classroom.

Wake Forest Test Scores

The chart above provides a look at how well the public high schools in Wake Forest have prepared their students for the End of Grade (EOG) exams. Students begin taking the EOG exams in third grade and continue taking a version of these state-mandated assessments until high school graduation. These annual standardized tests assess a student’s mastery of the concepts taught during the course of the school year. Once students begin high school, they start taking subject-specific End of Grade exams, including tests for biology, civics and economics, mathematics, and English.

Students in their junior and senior years of high school must also review for college admissions exams like the SAT and ACT. If your high schooler could use some guidance as he or she nears test day, enlist the expertise of a private tutor. Tutors can maximize the efficiency of your child’s review by narrowing down your child’s areas of weakness through assessment tests. The results can direct your child’s review by placing the focus on exactly which skills need more work. Once your child and the tutor have done a thorough review of the concepts in question, the tutor can check your student’s knowledge by administering another set of practice problems to track his or her progress.

Tutoring review by Manuel in Wake Forest, NC
We reviewed trigonometric identities and Pythagorean identities. This is the final topic for review for her midterm exam on Friday. Overall the student has made great strides from when we started, and even though since we started working together we've only reviewed half the topics on the midterm I feel that she has a good chance of doing really well. Her issues regarding the material involve minor clarifications as a result she has been able to improve on her grades.

Tutoring review by Cameron in Wake Forest, NC
We went over graphing and interpreting rational functions. In particular, we worked to find the domain of these functions, the x,y intercepts, the vertical asymptotes, horizontal asymptotes, and the holes in the graph. We discussed and practiced the rules for when we have horizontal asymptotes. We also talked about holes. At the end, we built functions from information given. The worksheet was 14 problems, and he was fantastic. He did a great job grasping the concepts and applying them to obtain the correct results. He responded well when new information/confusing topics were explained. He seemed very positive even though some of these problems can be very long and painstaking. I look forward to working with him again next week.

Today, the student and I went over the homework I assigned her from yesterday. She also completed another timed SAT section. We also looked at another section and just went through and discussed which strategies she would use to solve the problems (i.e. eliminating answer choices, substituting answer choices, choosing her own numbers, etc.).

In this two hour session, the student and I worked exclusively on the reading section of the SAT. We focused on making sure he understood the readings as he did them. I also left him with a new SAT essay prompt to write for practice.

Tutoring review by Richard in Wake Forest, NC
We began today's session with the student identifying homework in two subject areas: math and science. She began working on a total of 8 problems that consisted of fractions being added or subtracted. She completed 4 during our time together, commenting that this was excellent preparation for her test on Wednesday. She was able to much more readily solve these problems today than a couple weeks ago. She explained that her teacher had been working with her one-on-one during the school day recently. Next, she began reading from her online science text about gravity. She read several pages and easily answered the questions based on the text. Currently, she is earning a B+ in this class--an accomplishment she is proud of, as am I. We concluded the hour with her returning to her math problems.
