Students looking for a Nashville GMAT course in their efforts to prepare for the Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT, can receive help from Varsity Tutors. Your GMAT score will weigh heavily on business school administrators' decision whether to accept your application or not. To gauge your abilities, they measure your performance on the exam, which helps predict how you'll do in a business school program.
This test can have a major impact on your future. However, it can be a barrier to your progress as a wide variety of skills are required to complete the four sections of the GMAT. Your writing, problem-solving, information synthesis, data analysis, and reading comprehension skills will be tested to their limits. The length of the exam, at 3.5 hours, can challenge your endurance and ability to apply your cognitive abilities over an extended length of time. Fortunately, a Nashville GMAT class can help prepare you for the test with subject reviews and practice exercises that familiarize you with the format and provide tips and test-taking strategies.
What Does a Nashville GMAT Prep Course Cover?
You'll receive a comprehensive review of the test in an online collaborative environment, led by an experienced instructor. Coverage of the GMAT's four sections-Verbal Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and the Analytical Writing Assessment-in the Nashville GMAT course can help you reach for your performance goals so your application to, for example, the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, may look more favorable.
The Verbal Reasoning section of the GMAT comprises 36 questions you have 65 minutes to answer. That's less than 2 minutes per question. But to answer each one efficiently, you must have solid reading comprehension skills and be able to recognize the correct structure of a sentence. It's crucial to understand the relationship between words and statements and to apply your critical reasoning skills to reading short passages and making and evaluating arguments.
The Integrated Reasoning section requires you to synthesize information from numerical data, graphics, and text, applying multiple data sources to arrive at an answer. Using the provided data, you'll have to solve problems. In your GMAT course, you'll practice with multi-source reasoning, table analyses, graphic interpretations, and two-part analyses to reach for improvements in the skills you'll be tested on via 12 questions over a 30-minute period.
Spanning 62 minutes and 31 questions, the Quantitative Reasoning section includes data sufficiency and problem-solving questions. To demonstrate your skills, you will need to hone your mathematical reasoning, graphic data interpretation, and problem-solving skills. The questions are multiple choice, but your analytical and logical reasoning skills and ability to identify and analyze relevant data must be sharp.
Writing is an important skill in business. If you're planning on pursuing an MBA at Massey Graduate School of Business at Belmont University, your performance on the Analytical Writing Assessment is critical. Over 30 minutes, you must analyze an argument, plan your response, and write a well-thought-out, organized essay with supporting arguments and examples. Your writing will be evaluated by professionals with extensive backgrounds in management education.
How Can a Nashville GMAT Course Help Me Prepare?
Many students prefer self-study, but an exam such as the GMAT requires more focused preparation. Varsity Tutors can set you up with a course that is led by a professional instructor, interviewed to ensure their knowledge of the test and that they can communicate with a group of students. You will see, hear, and interact with the instructor, although they'll be guiding each lesson remotely. Courses are presented by an intuitive live virtual platform. All the while, you'll work in groups and interact with your peers who are also preparing for the same exam.
Over 2- to 4-weeks, your Nashville GMAT course will include subject reviews and practice with the topics, content, and format of the GMAT. Your instructor can offer test-taking strategies such as deducing wrong answers to narrow down the list of choices based on the phrasing of a question. They can also evaluate the quality of your writing and how you express thoughts, which can help tailor your writing skills to what a business school admissions personnel are looking for. If organizing and expressing your ideas well over a short period of time is a challenge, then you can have an opportunity to practice these skills.
The Nashville GMAT class is highly flexible. Multiple classes run concurrently, and start every week, so you can pick the best one to fit your schedule during signup. Classes run for 2 and 4 weeks to accommodate your preparation needs. Your options are also not limited to structured lessons. If necessary, you can request individual help and your instructor will work one-on-one to address any questions or concerns, improve your understanding of a subject, focus on building study and test-taking skills, and working on your confidence.

...I left that teaching job to go to graduate school and earn my master's degree in English. Rather than returning to the classroom after graduate school, I spent 9 years as a writer/editor at the Nashville Banner and Vanderbilt's Alumni Publications. It was while I was writing a story about a special education study at Peabody College that I got the urge to go back to the classroom as a special education teacher. I'm looking...

Emerson said that the secret of education is respecting the student. I have the greatest respect for that part of the human spirit that is curious and wants to learn. I find that if students feel they are listened to and heard, this allows them to feel encouraged. When they begin to understand that learning can be fun, the whole process becomes exciting and joyful. We are all curious and like to learn.

...in improving your college/grad school aptitude testing skills, as just a couple hours of study per week can yield enormous results in admittances and scholarships. On the weekend you might find me running with my dog, playing board games with my daughters, snowboarding, or just hanging out with a book. I love learning new languages and am working on a comedy script. I hope I can help you reach new heights in learning!... Early on in my life, I observed that an instructor who teaches (to) students makes little impact, as these lessons are simply foreign words and concepts that seem to have little relevance to the student. And so, ever since high school, I've been enthralled by the Socratic method. My sessions with students are much more like a conversation -- there are questions posited, incorrect statements (purposely made), suggestions given, and compliments doled out for a job well done. I love to interact with my students and help propel them toward the right methodology of the GMAT exam. This can never be done by pure instruction, but rather by experimentation and critical thinking.
