Do you want to make your college applications stand out? Taking the SAT Subject Tests is a great, additional way to show colleges what you have learned during high school, and high scores on the tests can often help you land a spot in college program accepting limited students or even enable you to “test out” of a class or two. If you took Latin classes in high school, then show those college admissions associates what you have learned by taking the SAT II Latin test. Even if you aced your Latin classes, it is a good idea to refresh your Latin knowledge before you take the test to ensure you feel confident on test day.
The SAT II Latin test is a multiple-choice exam that contains between 70 and 75 questions, and you will be given one hour to complete it. You may face some questions that require you to choose the right word to complete a Latin sentence from several options and some questions that require you to translate a Latin word or sentence to English. However, since many English words were derived from Latin, you may also be quizzed on your knowledge of which Latin words many of today's English words were derived from. Other questions may have you read Latin passages and ask questions to gauge your understanding of what was written.
Varsity Tutors' Learning Tools offers a variety of free SAT II Latin study help materials, including free flashcards online. You can access the Learning Tools SAT II Latin Flashcards from your home computer or with your smartphone or tablet when you are on-the-go. The flashcards offer the perfect way to squeeze in a little SAT II Latin review when you don't have time to sit down and take a full practice test or you simply want to answer questions at your own pace instead of being timed. Make sure you do get in some timed practice, though, because you will have less than a minute to answer each question on test day.
The Learning Tools Flashcards for SAT II Latin cover important Latin concepts you may encounter on your exam. You can choose to study the full set of flashcards at once, or you can click on one of the smaller sets of flashcards that let you hone in on a specific Latin concept you need a bit more practice with. The flashcards quiz you on Latin adjectives, Latin nouns, Latin dative case, Latin nominative case, word moods, and many more concepts you may encounter on the test.
Once you have practiced the full set of ready-made flashcards, it is super-easy to create your own flashcards with the Learning Tools Flashcards builder. To begin building your own flashcards, simply click on the “Create Tests & Flashcards” icon. This will open the flashcards creator, and you will be prompted to give your new set of flashcards a name. You can then begin entering your own Latin-based questions into the blank flashcards template. Once you are done making your own cards, then you can save them to pull up later, and you won't have to worry about losing them.
You can study with the set of flashcards you create with the flashcards maker alone, or you can choose to mix in a few of the ready-made flashcards.
