I am a book author and cultural anthropologist with college classroom teaching experience in the social sciences. I have helped academics and college and graduate students with essays, theses and papers with a focus on bringing out their strongest ideas and making their writing accessible and clear to the reader. I have experience working with people whose first language is not English and recently helped turn papers that had been rejected for publication into articles published in the best journals in their field.

I am a Rice University student majoring in sociology and history. I have been blessed with the opportunity to study with people who truly care to help me develop my passion for studying the human condition and analyzing the events that lead to the formation of modern society. I am a member of the Teach For America Corps and will be teaching Spanish in the Baltimore City Public Schools this fall. I am passionate about and love teaching/tutoring anything related to Spanish, Reading, Writing, English and Marketing! I am an Advanced Placement Scholar, a National Merit Semi-finalist, and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars honor society among academic recognition I have earned. I was accepted to multiple "T-14" (top fourteen) law schools, including Georgetown Law, which, among other schools, offered me an academic scholarship based on my personal, academic, and professional achievements. Among my tutoring specialties is the SAT on which I scored in the 99th percentile, including perfect scores on the verbal section. I have helped many others increase their SAT performance significantly within a short amount of time by thoroughly breaking down the exam material. I enjoy working with others to help them achieve their maximum performance.

I am passionate about writing and literature. During my undergraduate studies, I read over 500 books for personal and academic reasons. These texts ranged in time period, genre, and field-- allowing me to possess diverse knowledge and experiences. I also have written for personal and creative reasons as well as academic researched based work. I am also an MFA in Writing student at Columbia University.

I am “HQ” (Highly Qualified) certified to teach Social Studies for grades 7-12. I currently teach a sophomore level ethics class at St. Edwards University. I taught several classes at The University of Texas at Austin as a Doctoral Candidate, where I also earned my M.A. in Philosophy. At the University of Southern California, I earned my B.A. with Departmental Honors along with the Discovery Scholar’s award for excellence in independent research. I have been tutoring and teaching for eleven years, with a primary emphasis on developing my students’ writing and critical thinking skills.

I am eager to help students prepare for college applications, including mastering standardized tests, college essays, and study strategies. I am also driven to teach young students to become better overall writers and critical readers as these skills will affect all facets of their educational career. My ultimate goal, however, is to go beyond the material a student is currently struggling with by teaching them how to successfully identify and address areas that need improvement. The ability to teach one's self efficiently and effectively is a skill that will be invaluable throughout their entire lives.

I am a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, with a BA in English Literature, and New York University, with an MA in Arts Administration. I truly enjoy learning so much that Ive studied various subjects at over 10 additional colleges across the United States and Europe, starting in high school! Im also a student of life, attending special seminars (like Landmark and Tony Robbins) whenever I get the chance. Over the past 15 years, Ive had the pleasure of teaching in many different settings. Ive been a museum educator, a classroom teacher (teaching either math, science, English or art), an education program manager, a leadership trainer (teaching a leadership curriculum through the arts), a yoga instructor, and a tutor. Because Im so passionate about learning, its a pleasure for me to inspire my students to discover their own passions and reach their goals. In my spare time, I enjoy world traveling, reading, yoga, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming, making art and exploring South Florida. I'm a recent graduate from the University of Chicago with BAs in Anthropology as well as History and Philosophy of Science. As a student, I have had great success at rigorous and selective schools, earning my Bachelor's with High Honors and Phi Beta Kappa from Swarthmore College and my Master's with perfect grades from Brown University. Since leaving formal education, I continue to pursue learning opportunities through independent reading and professional development. I often tell my students that learning is my addiction, as many make fun of my choices for "fun" reading. As a teacher, I am certified to teach Social Studies grades 7-12 and currently teach high school social studies. I have additional experience teaching elementary school students, middle school school students, and adult learners.
