If you're a prospective student hoping to attend a school such as The University of Tulsa or Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, Varsity Tutors can support you by connecting you to the best Tulsa GRE prep options available. The GRE is a 3 hour and 45 minute exam that is accepted by thousands of universities and colleges around the world. Students hoping to apply to a graduate or business school will face the GRE as one of the first obstacles in getting into their Masters, MBA, or Doctoral degree. The GRE measures your Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing skills, which you are expected to have developed over a long period of time and be able to use in any field of study. The GRE is administered in more than 160 countries and can be taken on the computer or on paper. With so many other applicants taking the exam, you'll want to do everything you can to set yourself apart from the crowd. A Tulsa GRE prep course can help you as you review for this critical exam.
What can be covered during Tulsa GRE prep?
The GRE consists of three separate sections: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning. Each section evaluates different skills you will need in order to be successful in your higher education courses. Let's take a closer look at the different sections, starting with the Analytical Writing section.
The Analytical Writing section consists of two separate tasks, each of which you will have 30 minutes to complete. You must analyze an argument and analyze an issue in this assessment. You'll need to support your ideas with logical reasoning and examples as well as be able to analyze claims and the accompanying evidence. You'll also need to demonstrate your ability to articulate complex thoughts in a clear and concise manner. Your GRE class can help you practice planning and writing a response effectively and efficiently so that you have time to check it over for errors within your time limit. Your GRE prep course could also help you with reviewing standard English conventions so that you are able to maintain a coherent and logical discussion.
The Verbal Reasoning section is split into two different parts, each containing 20 questions, which you must finish within 30 minutes. This part of the GRE tests your reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence skills. When reviewing for this part of the exam, you want to practice being able to infer the meaning of a word or sentence based on its context. You will also want to practice analyzing a text and drawing conclusions based on any evidence provided. This section also gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a position given in an argument and be able to evaluate the passage. These are all skills that you can practice under knowledgeable supervision when you take the GRE course.
The last section is the Quantitative Reasoning section, which measures basic math skills and your ability to use logical reasoning and analytical problem-solving skills to solve issues using quantitative methods. Content areas in this part of the exam consist of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. You'll also want to practice solving real-world problems using mathematical models. Working through these kinds of problems in a GRE prep course can provide you with instant feedback about which areas you need more work on.
What are the benefits of the different types of Tulsa GRE prep?
When you sign up for Tulsa GRE review through Varsity Tutors, you will be able to elect to sign up for an online interactive GRE course or connect with a private GRE mentor. Both of these options can be extremely valuable tools as you work on putting your best foot forward in hopes of impressing an admissions office. Each comes with a unique set of benefits, which we'll discuss in further detail.
If you prefer the social interaction and structured class time of a traditional classroom, you may want to sign up for an online Tulsa GRE prep class. With this option, you'll gain the opportunity to take advantage of scheduled class time that you can access using our online learning platform. You'll have the ability to interact directly with your instructor as if he or she is sitting in the same room with you. You'll also be able to engage with your fellow classmates and participate in group activities. For example, when working on reading comprehension skills, you and your classmates can have a discussion on how to reach conclusions from partial information and interpret meaning from context. Alternately, if you're working on your analytical writing skills, you and your peers can edit each other's essays to receive constructive criticism on how to better support your ideas with solid evidence. These kinds of collaborative activities have been shown to help students develop a deeper understanding of the subject they are trying to learn.
If you prefer a more personalized approach to learning, you may wish to sign up to work with a private Tulsa GRE tutor. When you work with a private teacher, you have the opportunity to receive lessons that take into account your exact strengths and weaknesses, as well as your preferred learning style. Instead of spending time reviewing subjects or skills you have already mastered, you'll be able to focus on the exact topics in which you most need improvement. As you grow and progress in your skills, your GRE teacher can adjust lesson plans to focus on new skills so you can continue to use your study sessions effectively. This is an excellent option for independent learners who wish to work at their own pace.
Some students may even wish to take advantage of both options, which can give you the best of both worlds. No matter which option you choose, Varsity Tutors is here to support you in your GRE prep process.
How do I get signed up for Tulsa GRE prep?
