The student had some practice sheets on for finding the area between two curves and volume of different types of solids from today's class. We went through the problems that she wasn't able to get in class. We talked about how to decide which method for calculating volume was needed based on the wording of the problem and how to visualize or sketch the graph in order to help solve it. She is becoming more comfortable with these problems as we continue to go through different problems step-by-step.

The session went very well. First we went over quiz questions pertaining to applications of integrals. Going back and looking them over again she understood them better. We then worked on properties of logarithmic and exponential functions, as well as differentiating and integrating logarithmic and exponential functions.

Tutoring review by Kathryn in Marion County, IN
The primary focus of this session was Algebra 2. We continued with Chapter 15 on trig functions. Now that the chapter is moving more in depth the topic is becoming harder. She is having a little trouble here because with trig there is a broader picture and sometimes that isn't as clear to students. She was beginning to understand it towards the end of our session today. I'll put together a review/cheat sheet for her next session. In Chemistry we covered that final page of her packet which was interpreting a phase diagram. These charts are easy to understand so she did well. We will also do a Chemistry review in the next session since there should be a test or quiz coming up.

The student is preparing for his Algebra midterm this Friday. He was given a practice exam to solve. We worked on solving the problems on that practice test. Some of the areas covered were polynomials, rational expressions, and solving perfect squares. I made sure he understood the concepts covered and was able to solve some of the problems.

Tutoring review by Daniel in Marion County, IN
The student is learning about Trigonometric identities in school, so we went over those in detail. We started with identities he was more familiar with, such as the reciprocal, even and odd, the negative sign and complementary angle identities. We looked at some he had learned more recently, such as the Pythagorean and angle sum/difference identities. We derived where most of these identities come from. I gave the student some practice problems to help gain more experience.
