If you’re worried about your child’s ability to compete against students receiving higher levels of in-school support, personal tutoring can be a great way to elevate your child’s academic abilities. Millington tutoring is one of the most effective ways to provide your child with the guidance he or she needs to catch up to, keep up with, or even surpass his or her peers. Whether your child is struggling with his or her coursework or in search of an expert on a topic in which he or she is already excelling, a personal tutor in Millington can conduct interactive lessons that give your student benefits unavailable through pre-packaged and mass-market educational resources. With his or her own tutor, your son or daughter has the opportunity to make real progress toward elevating subject comprehension, increasing depth of knowledge, and raising his or her confidence--both in- and outside of the classroom.

Like all students across the country, Millington public school attendees must face state assessments throughout their aacademic careers. The TCAP is a battery of standardized tests that evaluate a child’s ability to put into practice various grade-appropriate concepts in English language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. The TCAP is introduced in the third grade, and students take the standard set of four assessments through eighth grade. Once a learner enters high school, he or she will begin the TCAP End-of-Course assessments. These include tests in biology and chemistry, United States history and geography, five increasingly complex mathematics exams, and three different levels of English tests.

Whether preparing for the TCAP, reviewing for the SAT or ACT, or adjusting to the fast pace of college-level courses, working with a private tutor can help students of all ages overcome academic hurdles that once seemed insurmountable. During one-on-one sessions, a private tutor is able to provide immediate feedback to your student, heading off minor problems before they blossom into tough-to-break habits. From kindergarten students who are just beginning their scholastic journey to college students attending one of the Memphis area’s many universities, the wisdom of a tutor with a successful track record can set your student on a path toward achieving his or her desired test score or class grade.

Recent Millington Tutoring Session Notes

Tutoring review by Jackson in Millington, TN
During this session we started things off by going over the practice test that I had assigned. The student's score on each section was at or above our goal score; at most he missed 3 questions in one section. His essay needed quite a bit of work. He tends to write very slowly, and when he is presented with the time constraint his writing falls apart. Our primary objective going forward is to improve his essays. I foresee us spending most of our next couple of sessions writing said essays together.

Tutoring review by Josephine in Millington, TN
We went over the types of organelles of a cell and discussed in more detail the types of transports in the cell wall, while also covering the structure of the cell wall. The student had a positive attitude and was very easy to work with. A win is that I think she is starting to understand the material better.

The student worked on science, Spanish, and math concepts. He opened up when I talked with him about how the current topics he was learning about (communicative and associative properties) applied to more advanced math like Algebra and Geometry. Technology is a great way to engage him.

Tutoring review by Catherine in Millington, TN
Today we worked first on the student's math, specifically writing equations for lines in different forms (slope intercept form, standard form, and point slope form) and graphing lines based on these equations. We also worked on finding the equations of parallel and perpendicular lines from the equation of an original line. Secondly, we worked on her Spanish which covered a variety of topics, including using numbers to talk about percentages, AR verb conjugations, and forming questions in Spanish.
