ISEE Help
The Independent School Entrance Exam is the most commonly used admissions test for both international and domestic private schools. If your child will be entering the fourth grade through the twelfth grade and is planning to apply to attend an independent or magnet school, they may be required to take the Upper Level, Middle Level, or Lower Level ISEE. Many students experience test anxiety when faced with the burden of being considered for acceptance based on their score, but preparing for the ISEE may help to eliminate anxiety, build self-confidence, and help them perform at their very best. Varsity Tutors’ Learning Tools offer free online ISEE review and exam preparation. The Learn by Concept resource is designed to provide your child with the opportunity to quickly assess their strengths and weaknesses within the content your child will need to know on the ISEE.
In each level of this challenging test, your child will be tested on their verbal, quantitative, reading comprehension, and math skills. Learn by Concept is arranged like a typical class syllabus, in that it has broader categories containing subcategories that drill down into more specific concepts. For example, your child can review all of the concepts covered by the ISEE Lower Level Verbal Reasoning section, or focus on specific content within that section. Similarly, in ISEE Math, your child could practice testing with content from the ISEE Middle Level Mathematics section on coordinate geometry, or practice how to find a square on a coordinate plane.
Inside each main category and subcategory on Learn by Concept, your child will be presented with ISEE sample questions, simulating the actual ISEE. After your child answers the question or questions, they will be taken to a results page that shows the correct answer and a detailed explanation of how the correct answer was reached. The explanation also includes links to relevant formulas, definitions, and concepts. The order the multiple-choice answers are listed is shuffled each time your child revisits Learn by Concept, which helps to avoid memorization of the answer based on the order. This comprehensive ISEE study guide provides a unique, interactive learning experience for your child.
Varsity Tutors’ Learning Tools are all completely online, enabling you and your child to access ISEE review materials anywhere you have internet access. In addition to Learn by Concept, you may want to take advantage of the Question of the Day. The Question of the Day provides a randomly selected multiple-choice ISEE sample question each day. Regular use of this Learning Tool may help to keep the material reviewed at the forefront of your child’s mind. The online Flashcards are another excellent addition to your child’s study routine, offering traditional skill-strengthening opportunities that allow your child to study the concepts they most need to review. You can also incorporate the Practice Tests, which are concept-specific quizzes, or the Full-Length Practice Tests, which your child can use to access even more ISEE help. All of the Learning Tools provide your child with the chance to use comprehensive, convenient review materials, and are a great addition to any study regimen.
