Select the correct pronoun to fill in the blank for the following sentence.
The newscaster has a very calm voice, __________ is easy to listen to.

This sentence is talking about one newscaster. We know this from the phrase "The newscaster". Because we are talking about one person the pronoun should either be "he" or "she".
If we were talking about more than one newscaster, "they" would have been the correct answer.
You would not refer to a person as "it". If we were talking directly to the newscaster, we could use the pronoun "you", but this sentence is not talking to the newscaster, it's talking about the newscaster.
Example Question #2 : Language
Select the correct pronoun to fill in the blank for the following sentence.
To be successful, a really good realtor should provide the buyer with all the information and __________ should be easy to work with.

This sentence is talking about one realtor. We know this from the phrase "a really good realtor". Because we are talking about one person the pronoun should either be "he" or "she".
If we were talking about more than one realtor, "they" would have been the correct answer.
You would not refer to a person as "it". If we were talking directly to the realtor, we could use the pronoun "you", but this sentence is not talking to the realtor, it's talking about a realtor.

Select the correct pronoun to fill in the blank for the following sentence.
The family was excited to go on vacation, __________ arrived at the airport hours before the plane's departure time.

This sentence is talking about a family. A family is more than one person. Because we are talking about more than one person the pronoun should be "they".
If we were talking about just one person, or one person in a family, we would use "he" or "she".
You would not refer to a family as "it". If we were talking directly to the family, we could use the pronoun "they", but this sentence is not talking to the family, it's talking about the family.
