Levittown Tutoring FAQ

Levittown, New York, was built as a planned community by Levitt & Sons, Inc., and completed in 1951. The company is run by William Levitt, considered the "father of modern suburbia." It has been used as a model for many other post- World War II suburban communities. Today, Levittown is in close proximity to four Long Island Railroad stations - Bethpage, Hicksville, Wantagh, and Bellmore - which provide easy access to New York City. Nassau County buses also serve the community.

Two public school districts serve Levittown - the Levittown Union Free School District and the Island Trees Union Free School District. Island Trees was part of the U.S. Supreme Court case, Board of Education v. Pico, in 1982, which determined the school board's removal of books from a high school's library violated the first amendment rights of students. General Douglas Macarthur Senior High School and Division Avenue Senior High School are Levittown top secondary institutions; Jericho High School (#13 in the state) is in nearby Jericho. Several private and vocational schools can also be found within Levittown.

A few notable higher institutions are nearby, which can be quite competitive. A good way to take steps to try to get into the school of your choice is by using a private Levittown, NY, tutor who can offer you expert test prep instruction and tutoring, either in-home or online. Adelphi University in Garden City is tied at #153 in the country by U.S. News & World Report. Students also prepare to enter Hunter Business School or the New York Chiropractic College. The populated region's schools can be challenging to get into. If you are looking for private tutoring, whether in-home or online, you may enjoy working with tutors in Levittown, NY. Their instruction and test prep could take you far.

As you can see, there are many educational opportunities in the local area, not to mention the more prestigious schools in the New York City Area, including New York University. Seeking tutoring in Levittown, NY, is a great first step to work to try to get to the next level in your education.

Levittown is served by the Hempstead-Bethpage Turnpike, a thoroughfare with many shopping areas. You can shop at Nassau Mall, where there's a multi-screen cinema and several big-box chain stores. Nassau University Medical Center is also within the community's borders. You can also easily get to Bethpage State Park or Jones Beach State Park, where there are pristine beaches and a large outdoor amphitheater.

To potentially improve your score on that important exam, take advantage of an online or in-person tutoring session with a Levittown, NY, tutor, who is skilled in test prep for students at all levels.

Tutoring review by Gabrielle in Levittown, NY
The student had done a lot of work since we saw each other last, having completed an entire English section and another complete Reading section.  Her English scores are looking really good and her composite for the section was a 32.  Her reading was a little bit lower than that, but she missed very few questions and depending on the other scores for the test that score might typically also be in the low 30s.  We focused the most on Science as she still feels uncomfortable with that section and her comprehension of graphs is getting better, although she still needs to work on some more sections, which I am confident she will do. She was an excellent student who worked hard and I believe that she will be able to raise her score when she takes the test.

The student and I worked on the math sections of the PSAT today, both problem solving and grid-ins. She did exceptionally well!! There were only a few answers that needed adjustment, which is a significant improvement from the previous test.

Tutoring review by Vu in Levittown, NY
Today's session went very well. We covered some foundational chemistry material as well as some simple biology concepts. We talked about study methods and techniques for the Anatomy and Physiology course. We talked about what to avoid spending too much time studying on, and pinpointed materials that we should be more concerned about. Overall, it was a great session.

Tutoring review by Danielle in Levittown, NY
During this session, we reviewed the student's homework on approximating propagation errors and percentages. We also did a few problems on finding the measurement error given a bounding propagation error or percent. I also showed her a few tips on her graphing calculator and gave her a little tutorial on graphing functions and their first and second derivatives.
