Tutoring review by Brian in Pinckney, MI
The student is a very smart young man that just needs help with organizational skills. I did speak to him about his progress and got a good field for where he is in his classes. The three major courses we will focus on are Spanish, Social Studies, and English. It will be very challenging to keep him on task. My goal is that he becomes successful in all his classes this year.

The student had a test that covered exponential and logarithmic functions, solving logs, and compounded interest. She had a few worksheets with practice problems. We worked through many of the problems on the worksheet and by the end of the review, she was comfortable with most of the types of questions. The student did great!

We worked through a review sheet on derivatives in preparation for the student's test tomorrow. We went over these derivation rules in an abstract form allowing her to visualize what was actually happening when she derived using the chain rule, and the quotient rule. We focused on things she tends to miss, such as changing a quotient into a product by using negative exponents. We also went back and reviewed the definition of a derivative which allowed her to solve certain problems in a simple way, by realizing that the problems were just asking her to derive. The student is very well prepared for her test.

Tutoring review by Linda in Pinckney, MI
Today the student completed Lesson 12, Equation of a Line. We watched the video together, completed the practice problems, and then did the odd numbers of Problem Set 12. She struggled just a bit with adding some complicated fractions with multiple variables. I demonstrated an alternate strategy for solving, and we then did some additional problems that she completed successfully. Homework assigned for our Wednesday session was Problem Set 12, even numbers 2-20.
