Free RD Practice Tests
The Registered Dietitian (RD) exam is given by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. On this exam, you must demonstrate what you know in order to be qualified for an RD certification. The test is a computer-based assessment with at least 125 questions; each exam is slightly different in length. A tricky aspect unique to the RD exam is that some of your answers are not scored. However, you will not know which answers are scored and which are not. You will have two-and-a-half hours to complete the entire exam. During this time, you will be tested on your knowledge of food and nutrition, clinical and community nutrition, education and research, food and nutrition systems, and management. Varsity Tutors’ Learning Tools provides a variety of RD practice tests to help you find your strengths and weaknesses and become familiar with the format.
The free RD study material enables you to review efficiently by providing questions based on relevant subject matter. From amino acids to dietary knowledge and waste management to health care, the RD practice tests cover all of the concepts you will need to know. For example, you might need to calculate specific caloric contents of recipes. You may also encounter organizational questions, symptoms, health programs, or other dietary topics. Since your knowledge of human health and biology will come into play as a dietitian, expect to see RD practice questions covering these topics as well.
In addition to practical RD review, Varsity Tutors’ Learning Tools provides detailed feedback on how you perform on each practice test. You’ll see the distribution of questions and the number of questions you answered correctly. As with a real standardized exam, you’ll see your percentile, which compares your score to the scores of all other test-takers. There are also charts that illustrate how you did. You can compare this information to past attempts and see if you are answering the questions faster than before. The RD practice tests are great for measuring your progress and helping to build confidence.
The RD practice tests also provide clear explanations to the answers. You can integrate this information into your study plan, as they directly discuss the reasons behind an answer you may have gotten wrong. Another helpful feature is the option to share your scores via the social media sharing links. If you display your score on a social media page, it may help expand your study potential by allowing you to work with peers or even collaborate in group study sessions. For some, this can be a motivating factor. By talking about RD example questions with your fellow students, you may receive fresh insight into RD topics.
The free RD practice from Varsity Tutors’ Learning Tools is a great addition to a solid study strategy. It can help you use your time more efficiently. By doing so, you have the opportunity to solidify your knowledge of dietary concepts in time for the real test and gain the confidence that comes with mastering RD material.
