Tutoring review by Michelle in Fairview, NJ
We reviewed the student's test on volume. We went over each problem that he got wrong. We practiced a test taking strategy to choose all answers that apply by figuring out all the answers. He did a variety of practice problems and built back up his confidence on volume. We will be using visual representations to multiply fractions.

We continued working on slope/intercept problems. The student seems to be getting the hang of working with linear equations.

Tutoring review by Maroun in Fairview, NJ
Today the student worked on the homework problems assigned from the book (about 28 of them) and some from a worksheet given by his teacher (about 10-12) problems. All exercises focused on the derivatives of trigonometric functions, mostly using the Chain Rule. However, in some cases, we had to use the Product Rule and the Quotient Rule. He did very well overall. There was only one area where he needed some explaining: it was when the angle of the trigonometric function had a "pie" exponent. After a couple of examples, he was able to take the derivative without any issues.

Tutoring review by Kendra in Fairview, NJ
Today we worked on functions. We started with filling out function charts, looking at graphs to see if they represented functions, and deciding if functions were linear. We also graphed scenarios which is what her class has been doing the most. We then looked at graphed functions and found the domains and ranges. The student's class is definitely moving at a pace that doesn't seem to challenge her. I am going to find a 9th grade (and up) math workbook for us so that she can work at a higher level. We can go through lessons together and then do educational videos in those same topics so she can get her points.

Today we worked on multi-step equations and the student is starting to understand the process better. Tomorrow we will continue with these equations and focus on studying for her formative that is on Friday. I showed her a video of an example of solving a multi-step equation to begin the session today, and I think it helped guide the rest of the session. She can see her improvements from class to the end of our sessions.
