Tutoring review by Amy in Franklin, NJ
The student and I spent the session doing her homework. It was more problems than usual, but she did great. We worked on factorial pairs and prime factorials mostly. This required reviewing long division and the multiplication tables. We used the rules for divisibility a lot. We put those up on a whiteboard so we could easily reference them throughout the session. We used the RAMPS method her class uses. The assignment was long, and the word problems were at the end. Next time, I think we will start with the word problems because those take the most mental energy.

Tutoring review by Ryan in Franklin, NJ
The student and I began by going over some harder math problems. She performed fairly well and we worked on her ability to pick numbers and test them. We then advanced to vocabulary and reading comprehension where she performed really well.

Tutoring review by Lauren in Franklin, NJ
The student and I worked on math today. We focused on our 2s by playing hopscotch. She had a little difficulty with the upper numbers (skip counting by the number boxes), but I could see improvement by the end of the session. We may continue to use this method, but I would like to try my matching game next week and see which is more effective. Good job!!

Tutoring review by Talia in Franklin, NJ
Today's homework assignment was on the topic of arithmetic sequences. The student's class had already reviewed the basics of this topic. She seemed to already have a good grasp on the relevant ideas, so we started with the problems from her homework. She was given a word problem and asked to write out a sequence from the sentences. I was impressed at how organized she was in writing out a table to organize all the terms. She was also asked to graph the sequence, which she was able to do . She is also very good with mental math calculations without using a calculator. She received a 93% on her last test in her algebra class because on a few problems she interpreted the graphs incorrectly. She was able to immediately tell me why her problems were wrong, so we did not do a more thorough review of these topics.
