Tutoring review by William in Highland Park, NJ
We went over how to set up his data set for performing statistical analyses on. He was unsure about what approach to use on whether or not the way he constructed the dataset will allow him to do the analysis that he wants. I advised him to get rid of the year of publication that's included in the variable source for each of the observations as well as to give a code for each category for the variable Source (i.e. NYT Times = 1, Congressional Act = 2, Pub Law = 3). I left him the task to go over MINITAB and get familiar with it.

Tutoring review by Kwaku in Highland Park, NJ
His teacher had given the class a packet to complete that consisted of work that we covered over the past few weeks. The next time we meet I plan on doing more of these problems in the worksheet with him, but making sure that he understands the steps to complete these questions. He always has a positive attitude, which is great. He really wants to get better at it. I am not sure if he has any exams coming up being that he is on break, but the more practice with these problems he gets the better off he will be.

Tutoring review by Alexandra in Highland Park, NJ
The student and I read from her Frozen book -- I was impressed with how many big words she was able to pronounce on her own and we were able to spend some time working on exceptions to vowel rules. He and I worked on long division, long multiplication, and fractions. We worked on a word problem that combined all three math skills and reversed the problem to check our work.

Tutoring review by Zach in Highland Park, NJ
We worked on reading and writing. We read passages from a book together to work on his reading fluency. Then I had him work on his writing. I gave him two prompts, and after each prompt I showed him how to revise and edit his writing into a complete thought.

Tutoring review by Virginia in Highland Park, NJ
We started out working on biology during this session. We reviewed one of the student's homework assignments and talked about the topics it covered. We also discussed the different types of joints. I added to his list of vocab words and asked him to memorize how to spell those words by the next time we meet. For the rest of the session, we worked on algebra. He reviewed the rules for adding and multiplying fractions, and then I taught him how to reduce fractions. Finally, we discussed mean, median, mode, and range. He remembered how to calculate the mean very well from when we studied it in the previous session. He knew some about the other calculations but didn't seem to have had much practice with how to actually get the answers. I will make sure he gets more practice. He worked very well. He always works hard and is eager to find the right solutions to the questions and problems.
