I became interested in learning Spanish in middle school because of the neighborhood I lived in. Everyone around me spoke Spanish. After taking classes all throughout middle & high school, it became a goal for me to become fluent. Therefore I decided to pursue my Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Psychology from the University of California, Davis. In college I tutored foreign exchange students from Latin America and helped them learn English. I also had an internship at a an elementary school in their Spanish Immersion Program where I taught 5th graders lessons in Spanish. I didn't know I had a passion for working with students until I started working with middle & high school students at an outreach program. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Middle School Education and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. I am currently an 8th grade English Language Arts teacher. I've taught Language Arts for 12 years and social studies for three years. I've tutored and assisted children with spelling, reading, and writing in grades K-12.I enjoy reading, writing, and going to the beach for vacation. I have a passion for educating and motivating children so that they can be successful in life.

I am a graduate of Central Michigan University. I received my Bachelor of Applied Arts in Family Studies with a focus on Youth Studies and Substance Abuse Education. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively, teaching ESL in many countries such as South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Philippines, Ecuador, Tanzania, and Czech Republic where I also got my TEFL certification. Once coming back to the states, I taught ESL in Los Angeles for awhile before moving more mainstream primarily tutoring math, sciences, and helping students prepare for the ACT and SAT college exams. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about math. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. While learning is so important during a tutor session, I feel it is almost equally important to build a friendship relationship with my students as well. I have found this to have a significant factor in wanting to tutor and more importantly wanting to continue tutoring together. Most of my students I have continued tutoring throughout their school career, only stopping due to graduation. In my spare time, I enjoy snuggling and playing with my cats, hiking, and watching movies.

I completed my Bachelor of Science in secondary education with a major in integrated science and a minor in chemistry at Central Michigan University in 2009. I received my Master of Science in Educational Leadership-Principalship from Saginaw Valley State University in 2013.Since completing my undergraduate degree, I have been employed as a full-time classroom teacher working with a variety of classes at multiple grade levels. Courses that I have taught include high school general chemistry, physics, and astronomy, as well as 6th and 7th grade general science and 6th grade crime scene investigation.My passion for teaching science stems from a deep-seeded desire to understand the world around me. I recall having countless questions as a child about topics ranging from animal adaptations, atoms, and the universe at large. Discovering answers to these questions has always been an empowering experience for me, and I have found my calling in cultivating this curiosity within those I teach.In my spare time, I enjoy coaching basketball (I am the head coach of a 9th grade basketball team during the winter months), playing sports (basketball, golf, tennis, etc.), and, of course, learning more about the wonderful world of science!

I have had an amazing teaching journey over the past 22 years. I have a wealth of experience in K-8, dually certified in General and Special Education. One of my most memorable experiences was teaching abroad in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates as an English Medium Teacher and an Inclusion Coach. It was exciting not only to teach children the English Language, but to learn and experience the cultural opportunities. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner. My philosophy is that children are unique and can learn in different ways. It is my desire and duty to provide engaging, high quality educational experiences to ensure that students meet their maximum potential.

As a teacher as well as a parent, my top priority is helping students of all ages believe that they are successful and competent learners. I just finished my sixth year of teaching Preschool and many of my favorite lessons are those held one on one wherein I can truly get to know the students skills and challenges and create an individual plan for learning. I graduated from Central Michigan University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I have maintained my certification in All Subjects for Elementary School as well as my endorsements for Early Childhood Education and Language Arts Grades 6-8 in Michigan. I am currently working toward a Master of Arts in Education in Teaching English as a Second Language at Aquinas College. I consider myself a life-long learner and am excited to get started with Varsity Tutors. I am open to tutoring a wide range of subjects and levels as each brings a unique set of challenges and rewards. In my free time, I am an avid reader of both fiction and nonfiction texts and enjoy kayaking with my son and spending time outdoor with our dogs.

As you can probably tell, I am passionate about helping others learn. I believe that all students can lean, when provided with the proper tools. I have a diverse background in education, having worked as a teacher in all grades, K-12, special education, and adult education. Additionally, I've held roles as a lead teacher, literacy coach, instructional specialist, academic engagement administrator, assistant principal, principal, and director. I hold five teacher certifications and four administrator certifications. I am also a proficient instructional coach certified through the MDE. I graduated from MSU, U of D, WSU, SVSU and CMU. I have an insatiable thirst for learning and take great joy in instilling that same love for learning in others!

I've been a tutor for more than 10 years. I received my Master of Fine Arts degree from Bowling Green State University and Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University. I received my undergraduate degree in English and History from CMU. For many years, I've taught English, Communication, and Sociology at the college level. I am very active in my community. English is my passion. Currently, I serve as secretary on the board of directors at Raise It Up Youth Arts and Awareness. I also teach a creative writing course at the Boys and Girls Club in Flint, Michigan. In addition, I serve as volunteer Retention Trainer for the American Red Cross Club.I enjoy working with learners of all ages. I am a graduate of Purdue University where I received my Certification for Lean Six Sigma and have worked for several years as a Blackbelt. I LOVE to problem solve and there are always problems to solve whether it be what school to attend or where to work or how to save money or profit the most. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Community Development which perfectly aligned me to help develop students of all ages! I have traveled around the country of U.S. as an expert in the fields of Project Management and teach Project Management, Six Sigma and teach all facets of problem solving, process improvements, continuous improvements, change management. I have a start to finish course in Six Sigma, I have guides use anywhere to help students. I have used my Six Sigma which used to be called Statistical Problem Solving / Engineering for cost effective cooking. The kitchen is not just a place to chill out, its a place of business. I also published a cookbook for "Teens of Cancer" giving proceeds to teenagers that have a loved one with cancer. I would love to share the opportunity to tutor children and adults. I was a child with ADHD and understand the struggles involved and was extremely happy to hear that IQs tend to be extremely high of people like me. I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening and my dogs, Sammy and Sofia.

I earned a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University in Medical Technology and later a master's degree in Business (MBA) from DePaul University. I have over 24 years of business experience working in various industries, such as Retail, Hospitality, Banking, and Finance for companies such as JP Morgan Chase, Amazon, Target, and Nike.I have spent the past 12+ years teaching at a variety of post-secondary institutions. I currently teach in the Business, Mathematics, and Computer Science departments at various schools. In addition to teaching, I also work as a Software Trainer, where I specialize in training individuals, groups, and corporations in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.One point I would like to make clear: I am happy to teach you and help you learn, but I will NOT do your homework for you.
