I am a graduate of New York University where I received both my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Biological Anthropology with a focus on primatology and behavioral biology. My experience in education spans multiple formats such as counselor for summer research camps, teaching assistant for college courses, tutor for college courses, and dance instructor. These different positions have pushed me to broaden my perspective on how to communicate with students and address the topics they do not understand. As a child, I struggled with getting ideas from my head to the page, overcame that challenge, and was named "most improved" by my high school's English department. Thanks to the development of those skills, I earned a perfect 12 on the ACT's Writing section, and was named a National Merit Commended Scholar following my performance on the PSAT. After experiencing such dramatic improvements firsthand, I'm proud to tutor in English, Reading, and Writing techniques at all age levels, and to apply those skills toward the ACT, SAT, and AP exams. In my opinion, positivity, creativity, and patience are crucial skills in effective education, and I strive to utilize them in all of my sessions. Additionally, I teach Arts courses at the Museum of the Moving Image, and have found that asking guided questions is a far more powerful method of learning and retention than is typically true of material taught through lecturing. I love humor and try to use it as a motivation technique, relating coursework to each student's specific interests. My hope is to help students achieve a greater mastery of concepts (beyond individual assignments or problem sets), and I look forward to having the chance to work with you!

I take a great interest in language and social science. Growing up, I was educated in a bilingual institution (Spanish and English), but have taken to learning other languages at a university level, such as French and German. My interest in social sciences was fostered by my academic coursework as I completed my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. I achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology and Religious Studies at New York University and recently acquired a Master of Science in Zooarchaeology at the University of York (United Kingdom). My specialization in archaeological science has enabled me to learn a broad spectrum of topics that span from history to geochemistry, genetics, and biology. I am however a huge animal lover (hence the 'zoo' in zooarchaeology! Have you been brushing up on your Greek?).Although I spend a significant amount of time in a trench or in the laboratory, one of my favorite aspects of academia is teaching, passing down the tomes of human knowledge to those who come after you. This is one reason why I highly value being able to teach and tutor. I would like for students to be as excited about these topics as I am! This requires being adaptable and perceptive in order to meet the student's needs as an instructor. I hope we can make a great team and achieve your academic goals.
