I tutor because there is so much to learn in the world, and learning should not be done alone. Education is the best way to open up the world for yourself, and it has to start somewhere - in school, a tutoring session, traveling, making mistakes, reading, and just experiencing life!

I am currently a freshman at New York University, pursuing an English major on the pre-med track. I graduated from Head-Royce School in Oakland, California, where I was president of the Achieve Academy tutoring program, working with K-6 students in English and math. I tutor a wide range of subjects, including K-12 English, math (pre-algebra to pre-calc), reading comprehension, writing, art, and test prep (ISEE, PSAT, SAT). My favorite subjects to tutor are writing and math. Writing has always been a passion of mine, and I love helping students build confidence in their writing skills by solidifying grammar and punctuation and developing a strong understanding of the basic essay structure. Math, too, is fun and rewarding for me and my students; I find that math requires individualized approaches. By getting to know my students' approaches to learning, I can help them understand concepts they previously struggled with. I believe that education is integral to finding joy in life, and I strongly champion making learning enjoyable and fostering a sense of curiosity in my students.

I am a graduate of New York University. I received my Master of Science degree in Global Affairs with a focus on International Relations Future. During my academic years as well as after graduation, I have travelled extensively to different parts of the world as I believe that the best way to open up and become a better person is by experiencing the different cultures. I have always been passionate about learning different languages. Languages include history and culture so they always go along hand in hand. Languages have always been my passion and I discovered that passion at a very young age. I speak English, French, Spanish, Russian and Armenian fluently (as well as reading, writing and grammar) and I had already mastered all of them at the age of 15. However, I never stopped to put in additional work to strengthen my skills. I spent a semester abroad in Argentina where I mastered my language skills. Later on after graduating with my bachelor's degree I worked at the United Nations where all the languages were a strong skill to communicate with the offices across the globe. I believe that languages are one of the strongest skills that connect and bring people closer from different parts of the world, and it is never too late to learn a new language. Speaking of bringing people closer, my husband is French and and when we met he did not speak English and we were communicating only in French. We have lived quite some time in Lyon, France (highly recommend visiting) where I perfected my French even more. Having been a student of learning a language from scratch before, my approach of teaching a language is to be as clear and as simple as possible from the point of view of a new student and encouraging them to fully embrace the language along with its history and its culture as they are all interconnected. I have tutored previously my school classmates in different subject matters including languages. Additionally I have been teaching international/ballroom dancing to beginner groups, children and wedding couples. I got into languages because I was very curious about the beautiful songs that I would dance to but no necessarily know what they were talking about. I am very excited to teach and share my expertise and experiences with any of the subject matters that students might be interested in whether languages or dancing.

During my time at NYU, I studied at the Atlantic Acting School and the Experimental Theatre Wing, sang in a choir called Drama Cantorum, and co-founded a nationally-ranked improv team called Captain Soldier. I also spent an unforgettable semester abroad at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nowadays, I work with a theatre company called Grey Room NYC and a non-profit organization called Leave Out Violence. I graduated in 2021, and since then, I've gained valuable experience tutoring Mandarin Chinese, both on online platforms and in classroom settings. I'm a writer and editor with a passion for learning that I love to share -- I've been told my tag line should be "let's find out!" I'm a native Austinite, but I lived in New York while I got my Bachelor's in Comparative Literature and minored in Linguistics. After I graduated I moved back home to Austin and got my Masters in Global Policy Studies at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT. Now I'm in Fort Worth, with an MBA I picked up along the way (also from UT Austin) -- apparently I can't stay out of school for long.As the oldest of three kids, I've been teaching informally for as long as I can remember. I have taken additional graduate level accounting courses and successfully completed 5 courses towards my teaching certificate at Felician. Hello! My name is Gabe, and I am a master's student at Johns Hopkins University studying Environmental Epidemiology and Biostatistics. I graduated from NYU in 2024 and studied environmental sciences and public health. I learned to have a passion for statistics since I found myself using it in so many of my courses. Statistics isn't for everyone, but I hope to help students expand their knowledge or gain confidence in using it for a class. While at NYU, I worked as a data analyst for a clinical trial and as a biostatistics intern. I am skilled in R studio for statistical and epidemiological analysis. My goal is to help students perform their best by becoming comfortable with the concepts.
