Students seem to get the most when they ask me about maths and sciences, and now I have a bit of a reputation around my building for having strengths in those subjects.In my mind, working with a student (especially in math) can be something like a game: there's a goal, there's someone to collaborate with, there are strategies to use, and if you let yourself you can have fun doing it. The mindset of curiosity and enthusiasm that comes from a game is powerful when used in a math or science setting. I was a private math (and chess) tutor for about half a year, and I was a math clinic tutor at university for three terms. I have loved math since I was a kid, and I enjoy it when my help allows people to better understand and appreciate math as well. I have personally volunteered in several tutoring organizations, the first of which was the GO Project during the spring semester of my freshman year. I currently live in Atlanta, working on a nonfiction book about my experience growing up in China. I appreciate the seasonal rain in southeast America.

I am a pre-medical undergraduate at New York University studying Global Public Health with a concentration in Chemistry. I have been passionate about education since high school and have been teaching, tutoring, and mentoring students from grades 6-12 and college in a variety of subjects since! I specialize in mathematics and science tutoring as well as standardized exam preparation. In the past, I have helped students achieve significant improvements and success on the SAT, SHSAT, Regents and other exams!I truly believe education is a mutual learning and teaching opportunity and enjoy helping my students achieve a thorough understanding (those "Aha!" moments) and appreciation of whatever they choose to study! In the future, I seek to pursue clinical and pedagogical medicine and enjoy biking, skateboarding, dancing, and philosophizing in my spare time.

I'm currently a senior at New York University. I originally started college as a pre-medical student, but then switched to a Psychology major, with a Biology and Chemistry double minor after I decided Medical school just wasn't for me. My plan for he future is still undecided, however I'm leaning towards pursuing a higher degree in Genetics. I loved school when I was growing up, and science and math classes were my favorite subjects because they made the most sense to me, but I understand that they can become very challenging very fast.My past tutoring experience involved mostly mathematics tutoring in subjects such as geometry and algebra, but I feel just as confident in my knowledge about the science courses to be equally helpful.As a tutor, I like to get to the core of the problem that my students are having with their respective subjects. I am a firm believer in going back to the very basics and building a strong foundation to build upon as the material becomes more difficult.I try to keep a light-hearted environment when I tutor mostly because of my personality, but also because I've realized that being in a very low stress environment is very conducive to learning.Let me help you achieve the grades you want, and hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I do!
