Education has always been at the center of my life. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech, then went on to study Mathematics at the graduate level at the University of South Florida. Later, I completed a degree in Educational Leadership, which allowed me to combine my love for teaching with strong expertise in tutoring for exams such as the PRAXIS and FTCE. I began tutoring many years ago, and it quickly became one of the great joys of my career. I truly love everything about schoollearning, teaching, and being part of the academic journey. As a high school math teacher, I taught a wide range of subjects, from Algebra to AP Calculus, and I've carried that same versatility into my tutoring work. My goal is always to break down difficult concepts into clear, understandable lessons while keeping students engaged, confident, and never overwhelmed. Beyond teaching content, I focus on building strong connections with my students. I believe that when a student feels comfortable asking questions and isn't afraid to say, "I don't understand," real learning happens. I create a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere that fosters curiosity and growth. Over time, I've also developed a wealth of test-taking strategies, which I share as needed to help students manage anxiety and approach exams with confidence. The greatest reward for me is seeing my students succeednot just in mastering the material, but in gaining confidence in themselves as learners. Many of my students have told me how much easier math feels after working together, and I'm proud to have earned nearly perfect ratings throughout my years of tutoring. At the heart of everything I do is a love of learning and a passion for helping others discover it too. Tutoring is not just my profession it's my calling, and I am grateful for every opportunity to make a difference in a student's academic journey.

I am a recent graduate of The University of South Florida with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Psychology. My goal is to attend medical school and become a doctor. Growing up the oldest of three siblings, I have been helping others with their studies as long as I can remember. I realized I had a passion for teaching during undergrad, assuming a teaching/leading role during labs and in organic chemistry studies. It was very fulfilling to help other student gain an understanding and mastery over what are very difficult concepts. I primarily focus on teaching ACT/SAT test prep as I am currently studying for my MCATs and know how stressful standardized tests can be at times. My goal when working with students is to relieve some of this test anxiety by preparing students for what they will see on test day as well as building confidence in students by using effective test strategies. My hobbies include watching and playing sports, listening to rock music (my favorite band is Tool), and watching movies.

Currently, I am applying to medical school and hope to become a doctor one day. However, I have a passion for teaching and love helping out others. What makes a great tutor is the desire to help those around you who might not understand a subject and also a mindset that enjoys education and appreciates it. I began tutoring in Middle school in the subjects of Math, Reading, and Writing. I started tutoring my friends first and then moved on to tutoring other students in my classes and other grade levels. I love sharing my knowledge and helping those who do not understand a subject. My experience in tutoring spans from Elementary school to college/adult students. I was also hired as an English-Speaking Teacher by the Korean government (SOME) in Seoul, S. Korea. I have had the privilege of meeting students from every walk of life and I am forever grateful for that. Yet, my expertise in tutoring is NOT limited to my education and teaching experience. I have learned also from my experiences during my early high school years. I didnt take education seriously and thus I didnt think I could learn. However, as I progressed up the Education ladder and attained my Masters Degree, I made a promise to myself and to those I have taught and will teach, that I will teach with an understanding and compassion for the learner who can learn, but who may not have the confidence. The truth is, everyone can learn. Its just that sometimes we need help discovering that we can accomplish more than we think.

Hello! I'm currently a junior at the University of South Florida, pursuing the pre-med track with a major in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Astronomy. My journey into education began in high school, where I diligently worked with tutors to excel in mathematics. Now, as an undergrad, I'm excited to share my insights and knowledge with others! When I'm teaching, I always remember what it feels like to be a student in need of guidance from a tutor. My approach emphasizes active engagement by collaborating with students, whether it's writing on the whiteboard or working together to solve practice problems. For subjects that demand a deeper comprehension of particular processes or topics, I encourage students to articulate the content in their own words. Then, I ask them to repeat it back to me, ensuring they've grasped the concepts. My undergrad studies have taught me a valuable lesson: teaching learned information to someone else, whether it is a friend, myself, or even a wall helps me commit the content to long-term memory. It's a technique that's allowed me to identify and address gaps in my knowledge and refine my study strategies as needed. I'm looking forward to sharing these insights with my students, guiding them towards success in their courses. I've tutored in subjects such as Cell Biology, IB Math Applications and Interpretations, as well as elementary-level Math and English. Having successfully completed courses like Cell Biology, Biology 1 Cellular Processes, Statistics, and other major science and math courses within the past two years, I'm eager to share my insights and tips with fellow students. Together, we can achieve success in both high school and undergraduate courses!

I come from China, and came to United States at January 2012. I received my master degree in science from University of South Florida, majored in Finance. When I was in college back in China, I tutored a boy English for two years. He was in fourth grade when I started. His English teacher in school said he had trouble to follow up with what he was teaching. After 2 months, his score went to top 10 of his class. After I came to the States, I helped my friends' children to learn Mandarin during the summer of 2012. They were two 7 and 9 year-old brothers, both American Born Chinese. Their parents wanted them to speak Mandarin. After that summer, the boys can communicate in Mandarin. I enjoyed my tutoring with these children. It makes me feel fulfilling and I find myself can be very patient and effective with my students in language learning. Also my students seems to have a lot of fun in learning, because I used some fun ways instead of just teaching textbook.Languages are complicated subjects. I like to make different plans for different students, focus on what they are weak in or want to learn most, and use various methods to achieve our goal.In my spare time, I like reading books, watching movies, running and singing. I used to go to karaoke all the time with my friends when I was in China. (Speaking of Friends, that is my favorite TV series. The six gave me great joy. But most of all, they were always loyal and honest with each other. That's what I learned from them.)

Certainly Knowledge is Power and a path to Success, but Knowledge is also Pleasurable, Beautiful and a path to Respect for Oneself and Others. My goal as an Educator is to guide Students to Love to Learn and to become Lifetime Self-Educators.The running theme of my professional career has been the meeting place between the Written Word and the Visual Image. Examples of this range from the Medieval Illuminated Manuscript to the Modern Graphic Novel; Renaissance Era Emblems to current Pop Music Artist's Logos; Classic Illustrated Children's Books to the latest Movie Poster.I practiced this myself by working as a professional Cartoonist and Illustrator for over 35 years. I gradually shifted my weight toward Teaching and discovered how much I loved guiding students to understand and appreciate the vast body of knowledge available to us in the Humanities (Arts & Letters).I completed my Masters Thesis on the Illuminated Poetry of William Blake (1757-1827). Blake combined all of his Poetic Compositions with Etched Illustrations printed on his own home studio Printing Press and hand colorized them. I received my MLA degree in 2003 from the University of South Florida in Tampa.Parents, allow me to partner with you in guiding your student toward academic success. Student, let me work with your parent or guardian to help you master subjects that have been mystifying or even tormenting you. Or maybe you merely need to discover more efficient study methods; so you have time to achieve other goals you have for your life. Why do I teach? I teach because I am a firm believer in the transformative power of educators. Teachers have the unique opportunity to make a lasting difference in students' lives. While many teachers may go unnoticed by some, those who leave an unforgettable mark are the ones who teach with purpose, passion, empathy, wonder, and character. The formulas, the grammar, and the facts may fade over time, but the values and the character traits I nurture in my students will stay with them forever.

Career English Educator / English Linguist Specialties in Academic English, Research and Writing, Public Speaking, and English as a Second Language (ESOL, ESL, EFL) * Advanced Degrees: - PhD: Second Language Acquisition and Instructional Technology - MA: Applied Linguistics - TESL * General English - Daily Communication - Survival Skills - English on the Job * Advanced English: - Critical Reading - Public Speaking - Active Listening and Notetaking - Vocabulary Acquisition - Advanced Sentence Structures - Research and Writing - Academic English Rhetorical style. ALL LEVELS ALL SKILLS Beginner to Highly Advanced Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Grammar, Vocabulary, Discourse MY CREDENTIALS? In addition to my degrees and training, I've taught just about every type of student in just about every context: University Research and Writing, Public Speaking, Middle and High School English, Communication Cultural Norms, English to Speakers of Other Languages, and more. MY TEACHING STYLE? Some teachers are a "sage on the stage." They lecture on grammar rules, verb conjugations, and noun forms. I, on the other hand, will be a "guide on your side." I guide you through the process of using and understanding English for real communication, where even mistakes are okay because they help you understand what "works". Truly learning English doesn't come from stuffing your head with facts ABOUT it, it comes from practice USING the language to share your ideas: real communication. That's how you master it! Confucius said it best: "I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand." Just hearing a lesson, it usually fades; seeing, it might stick, but doing it? That's when it sinks in. MY JOB? I will create sessions in which you experience using English correctly, you understand how its parts work together to create powerful messages, and you grow confident in your skill to use it. MY OTHER INTERESTS? When I'm not teaching, I love tackling challenges, figuring out how things work, finding creative solutions, or mastering new skills. I may explore new ways to communicate (innovative ways to use media), create and craft solutions to problems (new ways to grow a garden), or study and learn new concepts (especially AI and Quantum Mechanics). That curiosity and clarity shape how I teach too. Ready to master English with deeper understanding and confidence? Let's get started!

It is difficult to write about yourself and your accomplishments in today's society. Most of the time we want others to write it for us for fear of bragging or coming off as self-absorbed. With assistance from myself and Varsity tutors, not only will the words come easier to a student once completing these helpful courses, but they will also feel a sense of pride entering in the new school year. I feel at home personally feel most at home in classroom constantly learning new and exciting things that Google might not have been able to explain or individualize personally. That talent requires an actual human being or a 1-1 instructor that you can feel comfortable and familiar asking the right questions. I will do my best so that each student accelerates to their best potential and doesn't have any doubts in their abilities or writing about them in the future.

I have found that sitting all day is not for me so I walk peoples dogs.I have worked as a tutor for 3 years, everything from elementary reading, math, social studies and science up to and including Algebra. I home school one of my children but send the other to regular school where he thrives more with a traditional setting. My family and I live on a small farm in central Florida where we raise rabbits for show. We also have chickens, horses and a pot bellied pig.I love to teach elementary and middle school writing and reading. I love the look on a child's face when they understand what they have just accomplished. I truly enjoy most sciences including social science, and anything history related is right up my alley.

Hello! My name is Lori Meredith. I am a retired, thirty-three year elementary teacher. During my years of teaching I have worked with children from kindergarten to fifth grade. I also spent seventeen years as a school media specialist for 2 different elementary schools. It was very rewarding. I loved helping students find the right books to read. I enjoy watching children learn! I miss interacting with young students and I think that tutoring will give me a means to do that. I believe that we must all learn something new everyday. I strive to do that personally as well as with my students.

I'm a librarian here in the city of Jacksonville, FL. Not only do I speak Spanish fluently, but I have also studied the language in a great deal of depth and can help with everything from grammar and conjugation to reading and speaking. I am enchanted with languages, and believe that it is very important to know more than one language, whether it be for travel, business relations, or school-related purposes. If you are having trouble with any part of the Spanish language, I can help you!I am married and have two teenage sons. In my spare time, I enjoy not only cooking and running, but also watching movies from India and South Korea.
