I recently started teaching through Varsity Tutors, and before starting here I have had extensive teaching experience both in and out of the classroom. I have taught ESL here in the U.S. as well as in Morocco, Nicaragua, and Spain, both to classes and in individual lessons. I have also taught Spanish and Italian, and practiced conversational French with interested students. I am passionate about seeing my students progress and gain confidence over the course of our lessons together, and I really enjoy getting to know them and their interests, which helps guide my teaching approach. I hope to inspire in my students a love for languages, music, and excellence in English writing, as these are things that I am most passionate about.

Hey there! My name is Blu, and I recently graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Social Anthropology. My love of learning has led me to explore a wide variety of subjects throughout my life, and I've developed the skills to be successful in understanding them, both in my brain and on paper. I love working with kids and teenagers, and have experience tutoring for the SAT, various middle and high-school level subjects, as well as college admissions counseling. I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.

I have been a teacher for ten years. I have taught at eight different schools and thrive in mostly the Humanities. While a high school teacher at heart and by profession, I have also worked with elementary age children with learning differences.

I have long enjoyed enjoyed working with others to help them achieve personal goals. Some of the most fulfilling tutoring I have done recently have been tutoring immigrants for the US Citizenship Test, helping formerly incarcerated individuals attain their GEDs, and tutoring children in Honduras on conversational English to obtain high-paying jobs in the tourism industry. I graduated with advanced degrees from Harvard University, where I studied Philosophy of Religion, American Literature and History, and Gender and Culture. As a college professor, mentor, and tutor for 20+ years, specializing in world religions, religion and society, and writing, my passion is to prepare students to critically interpret uses of language in the world, develop their own expressive skills, and achieve their academic and professional goals. The daughter of under-educated parents, as well as a world-traveler, I am especially committed to supporting first-generation college students, those for whom English is a second language, and working adults as they navigate the challenges of higher ed. Nevertheless, I have taught and mentored graduate students at Harvard and talented undergrads in a variety of disciplines and welcome helping with theses. In addition to teaching, I have a background in publishing and editing, and have been a writer since childhood. Language creates reality, and interpreting and using it well opens many doors. I'm a student at Harvard University earning my master's degree in English literature and creative writing. Since starting this program, I've realized that teaching and learning are major parts who I am; it's become my favorite way to connect with people and leave a legacy. So, I'm eager to work with students on any challenges that they have while writing papers for college classes.Having taken many writing courses, I've written countless essays and worked with lots of students to improve many areas of their writing, including writing a thesis statement, understanding how to use commas, finding the best details for essays, and many more.

I am passionate about helping students with mathematics and English. I enjoy the rewarding moments of finding the best method to conveying knowledge. I have gone through the American public school system recently, and I understand there are several gaps in their teachings. I hope to be the one to fill in those gaps!

I recently graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a degree in visual art and microbiology! In my free time I also love to cook and read. I am relatively new to tutoring but am enthusiastic about learning and excited to start!

I graduated college at Harvard in 2017, and have spent the last 3 years performing with Cirque du Soleil. I am in the process of applying to law school with a focus on labor/employment law. I mostly have worked with students on their essays for college applications, but also was a peer tutor for life sciences and statistics while in college.

With a B.S. in Developmental Psychology and preschool education training from Cornell University and a M.Ed in International Education from Harvard University, I became an elementary school teacher at the United Nations International School in New York City. I loved teaching here because of the multicultural atmosphere. I loved interacting with international students and learning about different cultures.I presently tutor at the elementary school level and I especially love teaching math because it's like puzzles to figure out. I use many visual aids and really believe in breaking down everything to the basics and my motto is review, review and review. I believe it's important to go over things because we all forget and that's ok.
