I am a recent graduate from Columbia University where I majored in neuroscience and philosophy. I have been tutoring for many years both privately and more formally in the classroom setting, focusing mainly on students in grades 9-12 (although I have worked with essentially all ages). In my career-plan, I am aiming to become a professor and researcher in the sciences and psychology--this is derived from my love of teaching and inspiring passion in others for what they may not naturally find interesting. I first became passionate about math when I was in 1st grade and would race my friends through addition problems. Eventually, I felt I had mastered addition and moved on to subtraction and multiplication until I had basically finished the 3rd grade math curriculum by the time I got there. Since then, I have loved and excelled in math. So much so that I decided to major in Math during college and will graduate with a BA in Math in May 2015. I have taken all high school mathematics, all of calculus, linear algebra, ordinary differential equations, modern analysis, group and field theory, and number theory as well as classes in logic.I have had some formal tutoring experience with students in high school and some of my fellow students in college, and I have tutored many informally throughout my education. I really like helping people understand math and fall in love with it like I did. Whenever I was studying math, there was always an "Aha!" moment when something makes sense and clicks.
