I'm an archaeology PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania with extensive teaching experience at the college level. I've taught at Penn, University of the Sciences, and Methodist University in various social sciences, including anthropology, sociology, statistics, public health, and psychology. As a teacher, I'm guided by the idea that what I'm doing with students should be useful to them long-term. Making topics interesting, relevant, and accessible is of paramount importance because it allows students to hone skills that they'll use for the rest of their lives. Teaching is fun for me because I love getting to facilitate and witness my students' breakthroughs. There's nothing better than getting to that eureka moment!

I love to help students to do well on the SAT and ACT Verbal, Reading, and English sections. I have tutored these areas of standardized tests for more than 3 years. My approach is not "standardized" because I enjoy working one-on-one with clients to tailor learning experiences that address each person's unique needs. As a former professor of communication, I also have the skills to help professionals and graduate students with their research and writing. I am currently helping a doctoral student with her dissertation.

I'm a junior at the University of Pennsylvania, working towards my Bachelors in Bioengineering and my Masters in Robotics. I've been tutoring since I was in high school, and especially love to teach math, physics, and programming. In my college courses, I get to use and hone those skills almost every day, while also learning about new learning/teaching styles. In terms of my tutoring style, I think the fastest way to learn and build confidence is through persistent validation and encouragement.

In middle school and high school, I tutored fellow students in Math and Physics and was tutored in English. Having been on both sides of the tutoring table, I know firsthand the value of investing in a student one-on-one. I understand that being tutored requires setting aside one's pride as well as a disciplined commitment to scheduling and mental focus. I am ready to help young students make the necessary lock down to realize the improvement they need.Fun facts!-I was the 8th Grade California Mathematics League Champion, scoring a perfect score.-Once upon a time, I was a middle of the road math student. At around age eight, my parents sent me to Kumon. I bought into the system and developed the backbone of mathematical thinking that made me a top math student through high school and into college.-I carry a Math minor from The University of Pennsylvania in addition to my Economics major and two other minors.I am particularly grateful for the opportunity with Varsity Tutors to give back to students who are in the shoes I once wore. You have my commitment toward helping equip your child with the tools that are essential to succeed in Math!

In a addition, my experience working as a professional web developer in Manhattan gives me real-life skills in writing programs and building web pages most efficiently.A student myself not too long ago, I remember vividly the pressure and anxiety being a student entails. I therefore teach in a relaxed and friendly fashion, and cater my tutoring style and material according to each student, rather than using a template. Thank you for considering me as your tutor. Hello! I am a seasoned educator with over 14 years of teaching experience. I currently am a middle school principal but have taught grades 3-college. I am no stranger to Common Core and can help students master material with tried and true strategies!
I'm a software/data architect with a specialization in analytics / data science. My undergraduate majors are math and physics. My completed M.S. is in applied statistics, and the M.S. I'm currently pursuing part-time is in computer science.I choose to tutor part-time because I'm old enough that I have some accumulated skills and wisdom to pass on. This is not my first time as a tutor. I tutored both in high school and in college. I also taught statistics and business math to adult students between 2008 and 2011. After seeing some online videos on higher-level mathematical topics (calculus, linear algebra, complex analysis, etc.), my interest in teaching resurfaced. I don't know where this gig will lead, but it's nice to have alternative career pathways for when one is tired of climbing a ladder of job titles and getting away from the things that one loves, which for me have always been math, physics, and software development.
I am an M.S.Ed. student at the University of Pennsylvania in Education, Culture, and Society and I am passionate about education and community development. As an undergraduate, I triple-majored in Economics, American Studies, and Spanish at Tufts University. I spent the last four years living in Vina del mar, Chile where I taught English as a Foreign Language at a technical-professional university and tutored English and test prep in my free time.I love teaching, and I try to make my classes fun and connect them to real-life situations. I always tailor my teaching to my students' goals and learning styles. If you like charts, diagrams, and rules, we can use them every class. If they don't make any sense to you, we can review the same concepts using pictures, games, and music. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and as a teacher I have never taught the same class twice--even the same material requires a different approach for each student.I think that languages are fun and fascinating, and love working with students who are learning a new language (English or Spanish), or who are looking to master the intricacies of English for TOEFL, the SAT, or GRE. Languages and grammar rules can seem overwhelming, but I try to break them down into manageable sections and develop personal tricks and strategies that make sense for each student.
