As a passionate tutor with a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences from Drexel University, I am committed to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for my students. My experience in tutoring high school biology has reinforced my belief that personalized guidance is crucial for academic success. I strive to connect with each student by tailoring my approach to their unique learning styles, helping them to navigate complex scientific concepts with confidence. My motivation for tutoring stems from a genuine desire to inspire curiosity and foster growth in my students. I am excited to contribute my knowledge and enthusiasm to enhance their educational journeys and support them in achieving their academic goals.

I am a Biology major with a strong passion for making learning feel approachable and stress-free. I understand that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and building understanding step by step, rather than feeling rushed or pressured. My tutoring style focuses on slowing things down and breaking concepts into clear, manageable parts. I believe confidence grows when students are given space to think, make mistakes, and gradually connect ideas. Instead of memorization alone, I aim to help students understand the "why" behind the material so they can apply it independently. I'm especially motivated to support students who may feel overwhelmed or discouraged in subjects like math and science. My goal is to create a supportive environment where learning feels structured but calm, and where students can steadily improve at their own pace.
I am a graduate of Drexel University (BS and PhD) and the University of Minnesota (MS) where I studied Biomedical Engineering. During my academic career I have tutored many of my classmates, and also have taught three undergraduate level Engineering classes. Although I generally take a direct approach to tutoring utilizing real-world examples, my experiences have taught me that all students learn differently and I try to adapt my teaching style to best fit my students. My education and professional career have made me qualified to teach the subjects I have always been most interested in, all levels of mathematics and biology. Outside of my professional life I enjoy cycling, camping, fly fishing, hiking, sports and home-made cooking. I look forward to spending more of my spare time educating others.
My name is Diane and I am a medical student with a true passion for science. I have an undergrad degree in biochemistry and a Masters in Biomedical Sciences. I have been tutoring students for several years. I am someone that takes time to explain the material, and make sure you understand each concept presented. I enjoy helping students see things in a clearer way and discover new ways to solve problems. In addition, I am also available to tutor students in English and writing. Whether it is proofreading a paper, or helping to brainstorm, I am here to assist in every step of the creative process. Please feel free to reach out to me if you are interested in a session.
I have an undergraduate degree in Archaeology and another in Biology from Boston University. I have a M.S. in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences from Drexel University. I am currently a second-year medical student in my gap year from University of Queensland-Ochsner Clinical school. I have been tutoring basic science and social science for the past 10 years. I love tutoring both English and Biology. I use metacognition strategies to improve learning so that students can gain both the confidence and the tools for self-motivation in the future. I really believe that you can learn any subject, by taking a step back, assessing what you know and don't know, and then creating that bridge of understanding. I am here to both help with building that bridge and to encourage you to your best self.
I love Biology, It is not hard. I enjoy helping my students understand that biology is life. I do this by taking my time to break everything down and focus on the foundations. I'm also a student, so if i do not know something; I make it my top priority to learn about it. :)
I am a 2014 graduate of Cornell University's College of Engineering where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Engineering. I have just begun my Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering at Drexel University. My favorite subjects to tutor include Test Prep and elementary/middle school subjects. I enjoy helping younger students so that they can be excited about learning and begin their education with a solid foundation in reading, writing, and mathematics. I believe it is important to provide students with the proper tools to succeed at a young age so that they continue to have a desire to learn for the rest of their lives. I loved my college experience and want to show high school students that with practice and diligence, they too can perform well on standardized tests and go on to the university of their choosing. To accomplish academic goals at any level, it is important for the student to have fun while learning! I personalize my teaching approach to fit the student's learning style so that he or she can easily transition from learning a concept to applying it to a given problem. The greatest reward is seeing the smile on a student's face when a topic "clicks".Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring Philadelphia, baking, exercising, watching football with friends, and decorating my apartment.
"Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it." This quote by College Football Hall of Famer Lou Holtz details the aspects to accomplishing a task. My personal belief is that these 3 components also apply to studying, and the mastery of every one is the key to academic success.I strive to achieve these three factors in my own life as well as helping others realize their potential through mastering ability, motivation, and attitude.
I'm a junior at Drexel University, dual-majoring in Management Information Systems and Business Analytics. I graduated from one of the best public high schools in America, Central High School, with a Bachelor of Arts (CHS is the only school in the nation that has the ability to confer academic degrees). While in high school, I tutored English Literature to newly immigrated college students. Additionally, I received an I.B. diploma after completing the 2-year program, studied abroad in Singapore at Nanyang Technological University as a college Sophomore, speak Fluent Russian, and have taken a broad range of subjects including: Statistics, History of Capitalism, History of Science, Astronomy, Intercultural Behavior, etc. I think learning is a life-long experience that should extend beyond the classroom. Therefore, I am a big proponent of holistic education and critical thinking so students can have the tools they need when they face the world. Although I love learning from every subject, I have a particular fondness for English and History.
I have a background in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering, mainly with a concentration in tissue biomechanics for my work. After my education, I have been involved primarily in research and science work, mainly focused on my career; I am, at this point, taking a break from being in the lab. I desire to break down complex subjects into simple concepts essential in any field. As we progress to complex topics, we forget the simple concepts we learn in high school/college. My experiences as a TA were memorable and taught me about explaining subjects and concepts. I strongly believe in knowing the concepts and fundamentals while ensuring the future is bright and prosperous. We are in a global society where quality education is paramount. I want to improve on the fundamentals of students, which can be helpful for all. For my leisure time, I enjoy college sports, DC and Marvel movies, and leisure reading!
I am an experienced educator, writing specialist, and communications professional dedicated to helping students become confident, effective thinkers and communicators. With a background in academic coaching, college essay development, and educational communications, I support students in strengthening both their skill and their inner beliefs. I specialize in writing, English, and college preparation, including personal statements, essays, and critical and creative writing and reading. My approach combines clear structure, practical strategy and individualized support that develops each student's authentic voice. Students and families appreciate my patient, encouraging style and the comfortable, supportive environment I establish from day one. Every student has a story worth telling.
I am an undergraduate student at Drexel University. I am majoring in Psychology and minoring in Health Services Administration as well as Sports Coaching Leadership. I have been lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons since I was 14. From there, I began teaching at KinderCare Learning Centers in March of 2021. I work primarily with students ages six to twelve but have worked with all age groups. I also have experience teaching children with special needs. I have taught a wide variety of subjects, but I am passionate about Algebra, Science, and English. I enjoy learning about my students and how I can help them better understand a specific topic. If a student is interested in what they are learning about, they often have an easier time grasping the concept. I am passionate about helping students achieve their goals and further their education. Outside of academia, I enjoy swimming, running, and playing with my dog!
With a background in banking and financial risk management, I have worked in the US, Asia and Europe, as an analyst and a consultant. There are a wide range of subject matters I am interested in: finance, economics, business writing (I published a number of analyst reports), and science (my dream was to become a physicist). I am passionate about tutoring because I want to share my interest in these subjects, and I will break them down so that it will be easy for my students to understand. I have had ample tutoring/teaching experience (including GMAT preparation and Mandarin workshops) and as a consultant, conducted numerous seminars. Simply put, I enjoyed it, so did my students.
I firmly believe that most students have an innate ability to learn well, and that a good teacher/tutor can connect with students to draw out that natural ability. Thus, students shouldn't feel discouraged about learning, and I strive to help them keep positive, no matter how tough the subject/topic seems--you can do this!So far, I have been lucky to work with students ranging from college freshmen through graduate students, and I also served briefly as a K-12 para-educator in NJ. I earned my Ph.D. in Communication from Drexel U., and my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English and Communication from Kean University. For the future, I look forward to tutoring K-12, college, and other students for language arts, humanities, and social sciences subjects, as well as a limited number of lower-level STEM subjects. In addition, I look forward to mentoring students vis-a-vis study skills and strategies. Moreover, I really don't have a favorite subject as such--I enjoy teaching any subject. My teaching philosophy and tutoring style, in a nutshell: I am patient and understanding, but I have reasonably high standards for myself and my students--and I lead by example! On an off-work day, you might find me taking a stroll or a swim, or reading a good Ken Follet novel. Or, who knows, you might find me taking a flying lesson (for a private pilot license)!
I have spent a huge portion of my life in education, both pursuing it and dispensing it. I have a B.S. in Environmental Science from Drexel University, and a M.S. in Environmental Science from Stockton University. I first started working as a tutor in 2012, when I tutored students in writing at Drexel, and went on to work as a tutor in a wider variety of subjects - environmental science, biology, writing, European and U.S. History, and other social studies courses- for students ranging from middle school through college. I am currently working as a lab instructor at Temple University, where I teach both underclass and upperclass biology courses.I aim to make learning fun and take pride in engaging my students on the topic of the day, even when it's something they may not be as passionate about. I work hard to engage my students, and try to approach the material from an angle that will draw them in. I am comfortable in group settings, or one-on-one, either in person or virtually, and like to tailor my sessions to the individual needs of the student - whether they need help understanding the material, with strategies for studying, or even just with motivation. I have a good deal of experience working with students who are studying for the AP exams, and have many strategies for studying for them (especially for those students who don't like to study!).
I am Vincent Mills. I'm a graduate at Central High School and studied Game Art and Production at Drexel University. I'm an upcoming game developer specializing in computer science and mathematics. I enjoy students with a lot of drive and passion, even if that drive isn't necessarily the subject where tutoring is required.
I am very enthusiastic and looking forward to sharing my knowledge with you! I began tutoring in 4th grade as a peer mathematics tutor. Fast forward to college, I have three years of tutoring experience with two of the three years as a teaching assistant. I employ a lot of pictures and relate examples to real-world experience to better connect the classroom to experiences! I graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology with a minor in legal studies and a concentration in politics. Currently, I am a 1L (first year law student).
Hello Students and Parents, My name is Gary Taylor and I would look forward to assisting you in your exploration of the fascinating world of Physics. I knew that science would be my general topic of interest when I first entered college (many years back), but I didn't want to restrict myself to a single specialized field of engineering, so physics, the root of all engineering disciplines, was my obvious choice. After working in the aerospace industry for a couple of years (gyroscopes and spacecraft re-entry tracking), I returned to school for a master's degree in biomedical engineering. That field is ever-changing and never-ending; what a blast! In 2009 I added a teaching credential (physics and math) to my resume and have been teaching in the classroom and tutoring students one-on-one since then. Actually, my first experience with tutoring was helping my daughters and their friends with their high school math years ago. I learned even then the satisfaction of seeing students "see the light" on some topic that had previously eluded them or simply gaining confidence as they repeated and internalized techniques which allowed them to solve difficult problems on their own. It is a shame that all students cannot learn from a teacher in one-on-one settings or at least in small groups of mutually trusting and motivated classmates. This encourages students to feel comfortable in asking questions and also gives the teacher the advantage of eye contact and body language reading to encourage repeats or different approaches to the material at hand. You are to be commended if you are able to avail yourself of this optimized approach to learning. I would enjoy the opportunity to work with you. Learning can be fun!
I have experience with working with high school and community college student on both coasts. I worked with Johns Hopkins for Center for Talented Youth at the Princeton University field site as a TA for their Science, Technology, and Public Policy. I found I really enjoy teaching high school students. As an instructor, I am interested in a hands-off, yet present in the middle of the process approach. For writing, this means I don't write your paper for you, and you are the first one to edit your papers. I want to teach you how to approach your writing and editing, rather than doing it for you.If you are a high school student looking to go to college and want to blow away the admissions committee, start NOW on developing your writing skills. Writing is a fundamental skill wherever you think of going professionally. My degrees are in interdisciplinary social science and can help with tackling anthropology and sociology.
I am a third year at Drexel University majoring in chemical engineering with a minor in communications concentrating in science and technical writing. I enjoy activities that allow me to grow as well as help others, which is why I love tutoring math and French. Having family in France, tutoring French helps me practice for when I visit as well as create a foundation and better understanding for my students. I like to approach everything in life with multiple perspectives because it is the best way to grow and understand. I try to bring this way of thinking to my students because there are so many different ways to get to the same answer. In my spare time, I like to sew, read and write, and attend concerts.
Hi! My teaching interests range anywhere in the Math and Sciences. As a gradate with a BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering, I have a solid background in math and science. As a young professional I have experience as a consultant. My teaching/tutoring experience ranges from elementary/middle school students to professional adults. I have experience mentoring young students in math and science, as well as new concepts covered by their school. I have additional experience training professionals on software. I am passionate about tutoring young students as I believe they are still gaining foundational knowledge. It is important for the students to know at a young age that learning is a life long process and can be enjoyable and rewarding. I have the patience to work with younger students and accommodate their learning needs. I am able to make learning fun and keep it light hearted. Mistakes are welcome as they are just a part of the learning process.
I am a chemical engineering graduate of Drexel University , Class of 2013. Since graduation , I spent about a year completing a voluntary service program that involved teaching kids at middle school. I am currently an asset integrity analyst at PinnacleART in Pasadena TX. I am a huge, huge math lover. I also thoroughly enjoy periodic tables, solving equations and reading essays. My experiences with schooling in Nigeria have taught me just how important a teacher's attitude is on the student's success, that is just half of the goal. Let's work together to achieve the other half as well. Outside of work , I like to combine weight training and soccer to keep a lean functional physique.
I'm an interactive teacher that has taught and tutored all levels of math from Algebra through. AP Calculus, physics , calculus, SAT Math and MCAT math, and much more. I enjoy all aspects of education from teaching and tutoring to creating education and creating curriculum.
I love to learn and I love to teach. I come from a family of educators and I am very passionate about the benefits of education for becoming your personal best and for changing the world. I graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. During college I was a peer tutor and a reading tutor at an elementary school. After graduation I moved to Japan and gained extensive experience in teaching English as a second language. I worked with students of all ages (2-88!), in one on one lessons, small classes as well as large corporate workshops. Some of my more unique experiences included training a student for a speech contest, learning lines with a Japanese actor for a role in an American film, and developing original curriculum for classes. After 15 years in Japan I returned to the states and earned my MS in Global and International Education through Drexel University. Most recently I have worked as a para professional with Title One, Special Education and ESOL students. I am comfortable with a number of different subjects but I truly enjoy English, literature and language. My tutoring style is to be patient, flexible and focus on the needs and motivations of my students. I do my best to be prepared for each lesson and I expect my students to take responsibility for their work, too. In my personal time I enjoy trying new recipes, reading, swimming, and traveling.

I currently part part-time as a clinical dietitian and dietetic intern preceptor as well.
Tutoring is more than just teaching someone. Something I have learned over the course of my tutoring is that you have to seek out the great potential in every student, personalize your teaching, and of course, involve your students in an active participation, because their success also depends on all of the above. I am a nurse graduate from Drexel University. I reside in Lancaster, PA. My strong background and exposure to science and my enthusiasm for helping others will help me achieve goals of making others successful as well.

I love helping students because I want to give back what I have learned and am learning to others. I was accepted into Drexel University on a full ride scholarship, and I graduated high school as Valedictorian. I have always jumped at the opportunity to teach my friends grade and high school material, and I have been an official tutor for a little over a year now. I adore learning, and teaching is an aspect of learning I am incredibly passionate about.
Let's face it: Math can be tough. So why not make it easier with a personal tutor there help explain the hard things?I have over 5 years of private and group tutoring in all math levels from middle school to high school. I have helped students with Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus, as well as test prep for the SAT. In that time period, I have had the opportunity to work with dozens of students with different backgrounds, skill levels, and learning styles. As much as tutoring helps the student, it also helps me. My instruction incorporates the best techniques and explanations that I have found most effective over the years.I believe there are two critical ingredients needed to conquer any math issues. The first, is the quality of the tutor. Without a doubt, many people can teach you how to do a math problem, but not everyone can help explain it in such a way that you understand it and can apply the knowledge to future problems. The second important ingredient to successful learning is a positive attitude by the student. When tackling tough math problems, many students begin to feel overwhelmed by the material. I make sure to teach the material at a level the student can understand before progressing to more difficult problems. I have found that this approach allows the student to build up their confidence in the material, which directly translates into a willingness to learn and work hard.In addition, I highly value communication during the tutoring process. This involves keeping parents updated with how lessons are progressing and what was covered and could also include reaching out to school teachers to learn more about the material being covered. This also allows both the student and parents to give me feedback if a certain style of teaching helped a lot or not as much. A big support system around the student is incredibly important to creating a productive environment.I love seeing that aha moment on students faces, and Id love to see one on yours! I encourage you to reach out if you not only want to meet your goals, but exceed them. I look forward to hearing from you.
I LOVE BIOLOGY. Hi! I'm Sophie, and I'm a medical student with a passion for teaching. I want to work with patients, but my other goal is to go into academic medicine. I can't picture my present or future without education in it. I began tutoring for my little sister when both of us were in high school, helping her with math, English, science, and Spanish. In college, I started branching out to tutor friends. In 2019 I began volunteer tutoring for my college's chemistry department, and soon after, I took on a job at a local tutoring center teaching biology and chemistry (and occasionally physics and math) to high school students. Since taking the MCAT and scoring 99th percentile, I started tutoring for that as well. Biology and chemistry are my main teaching areas: chemistry because I've had the most tutoring experience in it, and biology because I have practical experience through lab research and patient care. I can also teach math or physics (I used to be an engineering student so I know those subjects well). I pride myself on bringing a real passion for the subjects I teach. I also strive to abolish simple; disjointed memorization and help my students see their subject matter through a logical, problem-solving oriented lens. I look forward to learning with you!
I am a 2015 graduate of Drexel University where I obtained a master of science in neuroscience, but I previously obtained a bachelor of arts in biology, minor in chemistry, at Arcadia University in 2011. I am an experienced tutor in the life sciences with 3 years of undergraduate biology and chemistry tutoring and 2 years of graduate biochemistry and neuroscience tutoring. I generally focus my tutoring on biology, particularly biochemistry, but I enjoy tutoring cellular biology as well. When working with students, I prefer to keep an encouraging and upbeat atmosphere, working alongside students to identify issues in learning and developing a plan to address these problems as a team. Having been a biology student, I understand that it is a challenging subject for many, and I love to not only share my passion but also share encouragement based on personal experience. In addition to my interests in biology and neuroscience, I have a wide range of hobbies including writing (both scientific and fiction), art and drawing, piano, video games, and martial arts.

Tutors who attended or graduated from Drexel University bring both academic expertise and real-world experience. Many have completed rigorous coursework in their subject areas and have navigated Drexel's cooperative education program, which emphasizes practical application alongside theoretical knowledge. This combination means they understand not just what to teach, but how to connect concepts to real-world problem-solving—a valuable perspective when explaining complex material to students.
Learning from someone with Drexel experience offers a unique advantage: they've already mastered the material you're working to understand, and they can share strategies that worked for them in rigorous coursework. Drexel's emphasis on hands-on learning and co-op experiences means these tutors often bring practical examples and problem-solving approaches that go beyond textbook explanations. They can also provide insight into how different subjects connect to real career applications, which helps contextualize why you're learning something in the first place.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors from Drexel's diverse academic programs, including engineering, business, computer science, mathematics, chemistry, physics, and more. Many also excel in test prep for the SAT, ACT, and GRE—areas where strong foundational knowledge is essential. Because Drexel emphasizes technical and professional fields, you'll find particularly strong expertise in STEM subjects and business-related coursework, though tutors are available across many academic disciplines.
Drexel's cooperative education program requires students to complete multiple internships alongside their studies, giving tutors real-world experience in their fields. This means they've applied what they learned in the classroom to actual job settings and projects. When you're struggling with a concept, a tutor with co-op experience can explain not just how to solve a problem, but why it matters in professional contexts—something that can deepen understanding and motivation, especially if you're working toward a specific career path.
Yes. Drexel's curriculum is known for academic rigor, particularly in engineering, mathematics, and sciences. Tutors who have completed these programs are well-equipped to help with challenging upper-level courses, technical subjects, and problem-intensive material. Whether you're working through calculus, organic chemistry, computer science fundamentals, or any other demanding subject, connecting with a tutor who has successfully completed similar coursework at Drexel provides confidence that they can guide you through complex concepts.
