In addition, I acted as liaison between Schoolcraft College and the vending machine developer, where I regularly discussed the practicality and financial feasibility of the machines.While employed at Schoolcraft College, another one of the Master Chefs offered me the opportunity to work under a French Master Chef, who was the personal chef of a family that spent their summers on their privately-owned cattle ranch and resort in Montana. Since working under a Master Chef directly from France is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I jumped on the offer.Some of the proudest and most difficult work of my culinary career was done while working under Chef Robert. Chef Robert had the highest possible standards for his food and was uncompromising in the quality of every meal he prepared. For example, you can use baseball metaphors in geometry if the student is interested in sports or the functions of a cell to working parts of an engine if the student enjoys cars. I understand that some students are auditory learners and work better with pneumonic devices, while others are visual learners and work best with concept maps or flashcards. It is critical to tailor my style to each student’s needs and interests in order to help them succeed. The way I explained multiplying decimals may not work the next week when I try to explain multiplying fractions, for example, I have to be malleable to the student’s needs.Outside of school and studying I enjoy hiking, nature photography, baking, cooking, and dancing. I also enjoy reading a wide variety of books including biographies, fiction, nonfiction, historical fiction, mystery, war, and romance. There I received many scholarships due to my academic success and developed an appreciation for some classes I had previously disliked in high school. I changed my major two weeks into the start of freshman year, trying to avoid taking many chemistry and physics classes; But after my first week in those courses, I had a newly piqued interest. I believe it was my professors that sold me on how chemistry and physics could be fun. They were always encouraging students to ask questions, and instead of rushing through the material to meet deadlines, they made sure students understood instead of simply regurgitating. Their passion for teaching topics most shy away from, and selling me on enjoying the material myself, instilled the want to share this knowledge and teaching style with others.In 2019, I began tutoring a local middle school student in my area and started to receive more inquiries, leading me to Varsity Tutors. I prefer to tutor one on one; Doing so allows me to focus on one student, making sure they understand the material being taught.
