I am an undergraduate student at Kennesaw State University, pursuing a Bachelor in the Arts of English alongside a Minor in Professional Writing. Since I was a kid, I've loved reading and writing. After graduating, I decided to share my expertise with other students, and realized that English is a subject many students struggle in. It is a difficult subject to teach, but an important one in our day and age; whatever a student's aspirations may be, a firm grasp of reading and writing is an essential skill. That's why I'm so passionate about tutoring this subject. In a large classroom, it can be hard to take the time to give each student the personal attention they need. Every student's level of understanding is different, so I believe in offering specific, personalized help for students who want to improve their writing. I love tutoring all things English, from Essay Writing and Editing, to Reading Comprehension, all the way to Composition.I believe communication is essential to our professional and personal aspirations, and hope that my students and I can help each other learn and grow as readers and writers.

Hello! My name is Jaime Rakowski, or "Mrs. Rakowski" to my students. I am a graduate of Central Michigan University as well as Kennesaw State University. In the 8 years after I graduated from CMU with my Bachelors of Applied Arts in Child Development, I worked in many daycares as my husband and I moved for his job. During this time, I worked with infants-school aged children. After settling down here in Georgia, I went back to KSU to earn a second bachelors degree. This time it was a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education. After graduating from KSU, I was hired to teach 3rd grade at the elementary school that I student taught for. I spent 3 years in 3rd grade and moved down to 2nd grade where I taught an additional 3.5 years. In early 2021, I also received my ESOL certification.Working with children from birth-5th grade, I have seen the huge importance of early childhood literacy. Early literacy has a major impact on a student's success in and out of the classroom. This is where my passion lies. But reading isn't the only thing that I love to teach! I also love math and social studies. Above all, I love to learn and I love to foster and build that love of learning within each of the students that I work with.

I am an English teacher who instructs students at the secondary level in English 9 as well as ENGL 1101 and 1102 at the college level. I graduated in 2011 from Kennesaw State University with a Master of Arts degree in Writing. Additionally, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Western Carolina University in 2008. I have taught first-year seminar courses as well as learning support English courses at Kennesaw State University; I advised students there for four years after graduation. I teach students who are new to high school and familiarize them with the writing process, and I work with them in reading comprehension, literary analysis, and advanced vocabulary. I am a college adjunct instructor as well and enjoy guiding those students toward becoming academic writers prepared for that specific discourse community. Those courses also focus on rhetoric and writing in all college disciplines. I prefer to tutor students who struggle with writing, and I enjoy seeing the improvement in my students. As a high school teacher, I am familiar with the requirements of the ACT and have experience working with students to improve their scores on the verbal and writing portions of the exam. Education is not just an abstract idea that I believe enhances personal experience and perspective, but it is also my passion and career. When I am not teaching, I enjoy hiking, traveling, and reading.

I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering Technology. This means one thing: my skill set is solving problems and learning from failure. As a tutor, I enjoy taking various concepts, like Physics and Mathematics, and turning them into tools that my students can use to solve problems in their world. I also want my students to walk away feeling that they have learned a new skill and gained a new lens through which to see the world. This lens is specific to each person, and I enjoy learning to see things through their eyes. This allows me to help teach them how to frame any subject to fit inside a lens that is comfortable for them. Due to my education, most of the problems presented to me were solved with mathematics. As a result, I specialize in Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, and Trigonometry. If it can be solved with math, I can solve it.

I have always had a mind for mathematics and science. Because of this gift, I was always the one person in class everyone asked for help. I learned quickly how to teach others, which helped in my home life as I had a younger brother who was not so gifted in math. Through him, and his friends who also struggled with mathematics, I found that most people struggle with math because they believe it is too difficult. I believe by being a tutor and helping others learn I can impart my wisdom to the next generation and make a difference in the world. What sparked my interest in Biology was an interest in life. I loved animals and learning about them. This love for animals narrowed to a love of the complexity of the human system, which I am now studying. When I'm not studying I enjoy music of all genre. From VNV Nation to Trivium to Earth, Wind, and Fire, I love all music and can appreciate most music. I also enjoy reading novels, preferably those in the realm of science fiction. And though I can enjoy playing video games in a casual sense, I'd much prefer walking Kennesaw Mountain or skiing on Lake Altoona. It is my hope that through my experiences as a knowledgeable brother, friend, and tutor, I can also help a broader range of people learn the subjects they are experiencing difficulties in.

I work with students all week as a voice teacher, and love seeing the "lightbulb" moments when something really connects and a breakthrough is made! I've been working with students for 8 years in large group/classroom settings and in one-on-one environments. I attended Columbus State University and Kennesaw State University, graduating with a degree in Theatre and Performance Studies. But don't let that fool you; I was always a very good student with high grades and excelled in Math, Science, and English. I love continuing to help students grasp the concepts in those subjects, particularly Math! I have a very "Math" brain, so concepts that have always come easily to me may not come easily to everyone, and I love being able to help others get to a comfortable point of understanding something new and not being intimidated! Teaching voice, I believe, has made me a better overall teacher and tutor. Everyone's voice is different and reacts differently to certain exercises and stimuli, so no two voice lessons are ever the same. A structured "curriculum" doesn't work, and this has also helped me learn how to cater each individual teaching session I have for any subject to each individual student. Some learn better with a visual, some learn better with auditory assistance, some learn better by doing it themselves, the list goes on! I believe I'm very good at adapting to each student's needs every time. Outside of academia, music and theatre are my big passions! I own and operate my own community theatre company, Mad Artists' Entertainment, and love to compose and play music. I also love to read in my spare time, as well as play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.

I've been programming for nine years now, and I think it's a very important skill to learn. Simple applications have the potential to save literal days of time quickly doing tedious tasks. I've taught several friends, and I love watching them build on their knowledge. My education started out as self-teaching, but I'm currently working towards a Bachelor of Computer Science at Kennesaw State University. I've worked with C++, but now mostly use C# and Java. My other languages include HTML5, CSS3, JS, PHP5, and Python.I'm also very proficient in mathematics, especially Algebra. In fact, before I switched my major to Computer Science, I was pursuing a Mathematics major. I feel that algebra is one of the most important math skills to develop as it is what most further math classes build off of. It's also by far the most useful field.I feel that learning should be done incrementally as trying to learn everything at once is overwhelming and ultimately unsuccessful. Smaller bites of knowledge are easier to digest, leading to a more rich understanding. Another thing paramount to building understanding is to let students have fun with the assignments! It's always better to build something that you're fond of rather than something you were forced to.Outside of tutoring, I work on my degree, build applications and work on building an interconnected system of computers. I also have a side-project game that I'm developing.I'm looking forward to working with you!

I am a passionate tutor for young students ranging from kindergarten to middle school, motivated by my skill and experience in working with children for a number of years. My love for the educational environment and teaching methodology has led me to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have experience working with children through childcare, athletics, and tutoring. I have tutored students at libraries, virtually, and in school settings. As a tutor, I believe each student has a unique way in which they will comprehend the material effectively. Whether it is drawing out a visual aid, using real life examples, or analyzing the problem and breaking it down (colors are great for this), I can adapt quickly to a students situation to help them reach their goals. I am very cognizant of the extra support young students need with focusing and a structured learning environment, and have the confidence I can assist them to succeed with their work. Though I am well versed in all subjects, I favor the Language Arts and Reading subjects as an individual who finds joy in reading and writing in my leisure time. When I am not tutoring or in school, I find myself maintaining an active lifestyle spending time with my pets outside, running, doing ballet, or observing nature. I am looking forward to contributing to your student's learning success with my tutoring sessions!

I love teaching/tutoring. I first fell in love with teaching when my niece and nephew were young. I would take them on walks and seek to explain to them everything around us. From the telephone lines to the birds in the sky. This love of teaching lead me to obtain my masters degree from Georgia State University. As a graduate student, I taught an introduction to college for college freshmen. Afterwards I did my teaching internship at a high school teaching world history. Upon completion of my program, I accepted a position as a Social Studies teacher at a middle school. All these experiences were very rewarding and now I want to use my knowledge and skills to help tutor students online, especially during these challenging academic times due to Covid-19.Tutoring is very rewarding. I love those "aha" moments when a student finally understands a concept with which they have been struggling. Good writing is both an art and a science. With so much practice, I have learned to master this wonderful gift and hope to help others do the same.As a certified history teacher in Georgia, I know history. Everyone is naturally good at math. If you believe otherwise, I'd be happy to prove it to you! Math anxiety is real, and it's okay to have math anxiety. Sometimes, we need to hear things in a specific way to understand them- and that is what math gives us: The ability to understand multiple perspectives so we can grow. I started tutoring during college, in 1999, and I have been blessed to teach students with different educational goals from many different backgrounds since then. I struggled in high school because none of my teachers explained things the way I needed them explained. That drove me to educate myself and find creative ways to learn what I needed and what I wanted. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2006 from Southern Polytechnic State University. My grandfather and grandmother taught Math and Education classes at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), so I got my love for teaching quite honestly. I have over 20 years of experience teaching every age nearly every subject. My passion is mathematics, and I absolutely love writing papers and helping others learn. Your education is the one thing no one can take from you. I'd love to help you educate yourself!

People always ask me why I chose to become a teacher. The truth is that I always knew. Ever since I was a little girl, my mother would always find me with all my toys lined up in front of me, and me in front of a chalkboard teaching them how to draw. There is really nothing like teaching. I think it is the most gratifying profession in the world. I absolutely love the outcome of what I do because I believe in long lasting relationships and long lasting thirst for knowledge. That is exactly what I teach my students. I teach them that the sky is the limit and that "I can't" should not be a part of their vocabulary. I am great at seeing the potential in everyone and not giving up until they see it too and live up to it.For the past 7 years, I have been a part of a wonderful community while working as a High School I.B. Art Teacher for the American School of Quito in Ecuador. I worked with 11th and 12th graders on the production of high quality art production, careful planning, reflection and written critical analysis with creative problem solving skills. This job has brought enormous opportunities for professional and personal growth. Being part of this demanding program has been very challenging but also filled with rewards. Making students' faces light up when their hard efforts pay off and they finally "get it", is priceless! My I.B. annual scores have always been above world average. My students have participated in national and international art contests with magnificent results with prizes and awards. I have formed an amazing bond with them that, I am sure, will last a lifetime. I still have students who I taught 7 years ago, tell me that what I taught them has stayed with them all these years. And like I said, that is what teaching is all about. That is why I became a teacher.I have good conflict resolution skills, I am patient, I am fair and I have enthusiastic energy. I believe I am qualified for a teaching job within your community and I will make a valuable addition to your team.
