My name is Francis Nguyen. I am married and have three beautiful daughters. I graduated with a Bachelor in Math Education in 2000 and a Masters in Math in 2003 from Fairfield University. I have been teaching high school for over 20 years. The subjects I have taught ranged from elementary math to Trigonometry. I love to help children learn math and succeed in math.

I truly believe every child can grow, and helping students see that growth in themselves is what I love most. There's nothing better than watching a student gain confidence and have that moment when learning finally clicks - it's worth celebrating! With my experience in elementary classrooms and as an interventionist and instructional coach, I know that every child learns differently. I focus on building strong relationships and getting to know each child as a whole, including their strengths, challenges, and anything that might be getting in the way of learning. I work to create a supportive space where students feel comfortable, encouraged, and ready to give it a try, because learning takes courage, and we're in it together! I love math tutoring! The best part about tutoring is watching a student's emotions go from frustration and confusion, to enlightened and excited. Math doesn't have to be as hard as some make it. I try to make it as easy and understandable as possible.I have more than 12 years of experience tutoring high school and college students in math, from algebra to calculus. My favorite kind of math is Algebra. I have memorized every formula and equation used in all levels of Algebra.My interests include puzzle and logic games, Garfield, and concerts.

I am a graduate of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri, with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. Following that I attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri to receive both my Master's and Specialist degrees in Educational Administration. For the past 8 years I have had the privilege of working in the special education setting for a rural school district approximately 25 minutes from my home. Working with students with special needs as well as those in the regular education setting has given me a broad perspective on student abilities. This has also served to cement my personal belief: "Every child is capable of learning and achieving goals - those goals will just look different for each child!" Within the special education setting, I have spent 5 years in an elementary building K-8, instructing small groups or individuals in all subjects. Most recently, I am extremely blessed to teach in a high school special education math class and co-teach a regular education pre-algebra class. Within this classroom we cover math skills ranging from basic addition/subtraction up to pre-algebra. In recent years I have also been able to teach on an online teaching platform to teach students from another country one-on-one. This is hugely rewarding because you get to form relationships with each student and see growth in ways you don't get to in the traditional classroom setting. I feel God has richly blessed me with opportunities to spend time and travel with friends and family. Which is what I love to do when I'm not in a classroom.

With over 33 years of teaching experience, I have dedicated my career to teaching students from kindergarten through high school. I hold a Master's degree in Reading Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Missouri State University. My journey began as a Reading Specialist, where I honed my skills in reading strategies, which remain integral to my tutoring approach today. Currently, I focus on one-on-one and small group tutoring, primarily for elementary students, allowing me to develop personalized lessons that resonate with their unique experiences. My philosophy centers on fostering a genuine excitement for learning, ensuring that my students not only grasp concepts but also develop the tools they need to pursue their passions in the future. Being the first in my family to attend college drives my commitment to equipping students with effective learning strategies and instilling a lifelong love for education.

I have had a passion for learning since I was a child and I want to share that same passion with eager minds. I have been officially teaching for a little under a year, and am currently attending Missouri State University to earn my degree in Education.
