I am currently a second grade teacher with 24 years of teaching experience in grades K-8. I've taught self contained classes, as well as ESL resource. I'm a mom of 2 sons and 4 dogs, and I can't wait to work with you!

I am a college graduate from Northern Illinois University. I have been working with kids for over 12 years. I have worked with kids from pre-K to 8th grade. Throughout my experience, I learned that I really enjoyed work with older kids. I liked the fact that I wasn't just teaching them how to do things. I was also mentoring them. I am very passionate about working with kids because they really are the future. I like being able to have an impact on their growth and development. It gives me joy to see a student accomplish something that they thought was impossible. In reality, nothing is impossible, every kid can learn.

As an PhD student in a biomedical sciences program, I am deeply passionate about biology and chemistry, supported by my Master's degree in Biotechnology and Bachelor's degree in Biology. With over a year of experience as a substitute teacher across K-12, I have developed a tailored teaching approach that accommodates diverse learning styles, particularly for middle school students. I thrive in creating interactive and engaging lessons, drawing on my background in STEM education, which includes teaching coding and environmental science. My goal is to foster a supportive learning environment where students can connect theoretical concepts to real-world applications, such as understanding the vital roles of proteins in biological processes. I completed my PhD in Economics at NIU, my MA in Economics At SUNY Buffalo. During my time in graduate school, I worked as an adjunct instructor in Economics at 3 different colleges. After graduation I worked as a Visiting assistant professor at a university. I have taught microeconomics, macroeconomics, money and banking, managerial economics. We all apply economic principles everyday without paying attention. I am passionate about teaching student to better understand the world around them and how their decision making, government policies affect the global economy. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Translation & Business from Northern Illinois University in May 2013. I have worked professionally as a translator and interpreter for over six years, and I also spent a portion of my undergraduate studies in Madrid, Spain. My formal education in Spanish is what sparked my passion for language in general, but it is my many memories and experiences living and experiencing Spanish culture that drove me to carry out my fervor for the language.I tutored students at the high school level throughout my undergraduate career, and I believe that as a person who learned Spanish formally myself, it is easier for me to communicate the concepts of the language in an effective manner that is more receptive to the student. My formal education in the language not only allows me to communicate Spanish language principles efficiently, but also gives me the tools necessary to show the connections between all Latin based languages and word origins, which provides a better overall understanding of the way language functions.Outside of academia, I thoroughly enjoy the arts and am an avid fan of a wide variety of music. I was vocally trained for many years, and have also studied some music theory, as I come from a very musically inclined family. I have always linked my passion for music and the Spanish language together, because in a way, music is just another language.As a person who has discovered their true passion, I will do everything within my abilities to ensure that my students develop a fundamental aptitude for the Spanish language.

I spent 34 years teaching high school special education and tutoring math and retired 5 years ago. Since my retirement, I have gone back to sub at the school I last taught at and also do some private tutoring. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math. I have worked for 15 years as an Actuary (a retirement plan mathematician), eight years managing a bookstore and teaching youth in a church, and six years as a public school Math teacher.I tutor Middle School Math, Pre-algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Statistics and ACT/SAT Math. My favorites are Algebra because it is logical, useful in everyday situations, and flexible enough to have more than one way to solve many problems, and Statistics because it uses data to help decide on the best course of action. My tutoring style is laid-back and intense at the same time: laid-back because I am quiet; a musician, not an athletic coach. My style is also intense as I am very serious about solving Math problems and being sure that my answer is right.I love Math and I love teaching. I especially like to show students that they already know Math, that they can learn more of it, that Math is fun, and that Math is valuable. So I build on their skills, support their ideas, and encourage their ambitions. I would like to give all students the best opportunity to develop their potential.When I am not teaching, I like to read history and fiction, advocate for renewable energy, play music with my wife, learn other languages and go camping and canoeing.

I have undergraduate degree in Economics and a law degree I have tutored over 400 students in the last 10 years in all subjects including ACT, Geometry, Algebra, Pre-Algebra and Trigonometry. I have taught all these students one on one and have learned how to identify each student's special way of learning and adjust the content and the teaching style to match their way of learning. Every students learns differently and the highest rate of success comes when you match the teaching with their learning style. I love teaching students and it something that stumbled upon accidentally just my helping my neighbor's son. Now teaching is the thing I most passionate about as a profession.
