I am a current undergraduate student at Texas A&M University where I am pursuing my BA in History with a minor in Secondary Education. I am most passionate about history and reading although I have worked extensively in tutoring math at the elementary and middle school level. As a recent graduate of high school I am experienced in SAT prep particularly in boosting testing speed and utilizing testing strategies. I believe in highly individualized programs based on student needs since everyone learns differently.

I am a recent graduate from Texas A and M University and received my Bachelor of Science with Magma Cum Laude. I'm from Japan and speak Japanese, Chinese, and English fluently. I used to be a president for the Japanese Language and Culture Club, which I occasionally teach Japanese to students. Also, I was a TA for microbiology in college for a year and I tutored in math and reading in college and high school. I received 5 on AP Japanese and Calculus BC. I really enjoy teaching, especially Japanese, Algebra, biology and chemistry, and I would love to help students out by delivering my passion and hard work in academics, encouraging students to ask questions and making the tutoring fun and organize.
Hello! I am a senior Mechanical Engineering student with strong and experienced tutoring background in all levels of Math, including: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus. I hope to help my students develop strong foundational skills in Math that can further develop into solving complex problems and getting excellent grades.
Hello everyone, I go by Ese for short. Ever since I started going to school, mathematics has been my favorite subject. I have a deeper understanding for the subject that i would like to share with anyone who would want to learn. I have tutored family members and non relatives and have helped the students understand math better. I am patient, relate-able and approachable when teaching math. Overall, I would like to make any student's math life easier.
I'm passionate about helping students because I've been in their shoes. There was a time when I struggled with mathematics and statistics, and it felt pretty hopeless until I decided to seek help. With the support and patience of mentors, I learned how to turn things around for myself. Now, I want to be that person for students who are feeling lost and need a little guidance. It's such a rewarding experience to help someone build their confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed. I've had the pleasure of working with a diverse group of students through my roles as a Student Learning Assistant and Supplemental Instruction Leader at South Texas College. More recently, I've taken my tutoring online to reach even more students who need support. I'm a senior at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, studying Applied Mathematics with a focus on Statistics. I also graduated from South Texas College in McAllen, TX, with an AS in Mathematics. On top of that, I'm a CRLA Level II Advanced Tutor from the College Reading & Learning Association, with over 10 years of tutoring experience. I tutor a variety of subjects, including ACT Math, ACCUPLACER Math, CLEP Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, College Algebra, and Statistics. My favorite subjects to teach are College Algebra and Statistics. These subjects open up pathways to new majors and opportunities for students, had they not taken them nor passed. When it comes to my teaching style, I focus heavily on the fundamental rules of algebra and statistics, believing that a strong foundation is key to tackling more advanced concepts later on. I also enjoy using the Socratic Method to spark discussions and encourage students to think critically about what they're learning. Outside of the classroom, I have a few hobbies that keep me busy! I was on the fencing team at Texas A&M University, and my weapon of choice is the foil. I still fence at local clubs, and it's a great way to stay active. I also enjoy video games like Guild Wars 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2, and I'll jump at any opportunity to touch grass (walking, camping, fishing, etc.). Through my tutoring, I hope to inspire students not only to do well in their studies but also to cultivate a love for learning that lasts a lifeti
As a student myself, I aspire to create a comfortable environment where other students can feel free to learn and excel. I tutored children of all ages and been a mentor to my peers during my education at Texas A&M University. I am now a law student. My favorite subject to teach is almost all the levels of math as I enjoyed these subjects the most during my education. I operate with the knowledge that everyone has a way of learning, and it is my job as a tutor to identify that method with each student and treat them according to their unique abilities.
Hi I am Kathleen! I have a Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M University and a Master's Degree Texas Woman's University. I am a Texas certified teacher with 5 years of teaching experience and 11 years of tutoring experience. I have an excellent professional teaching style to fit any students needs and level. From my long experience I have dealt with at risk students and helped them enrich their knowledge about subject materials then reach their goals of success. In my perspective I think education is a very important stage in our lives, which will open lots of opportunities for us and our kids to leading us and them to bright future. I travelled and lived in many countries around the world; this opportunity gave a chance to have a global knowledge about people coming from different cultural background which made it easier and interesting for me to deal with diverse group of students.Life is good, so enjoy your journey in it and leave a mark on your final chapter.
What better person to tutor you than a professional nerd? I love all geeky academic things from a perfectly edited essay to a finely tuned test prep schedule. I spent my grade school and early college years struggling with undiagnosed ADHD. When I finally started to learn coping mechanisms and study strategies that worked with my brain, my grades went up and I was much happier. I've always had a love of learning and now I want to help you find the best studying strategies to reach your academic goals.
I am a student at Texas A and M University pursuing a degree in Applied Mathematics. I graduated from the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science in Stafford, NJ in 2018.I have experience tutoring my peers in all levels of high school math courses and standardized test prep. I enjoy tutoring because I want to help others achieve the level of success I have been able to achieve. I find great joy when a difficult topic finally 'clicks' for a student and they gain confidence and a greater passion for learning. My teaching philosophy is to make a topic interesting and tangible so that a student will find an inner motivation to learn it and master it. I also like to confirm a students current knowledge in order to instill confidence.Outside of tutoring and my studies I am an avid runner and enjoy being outdoors.
I am a recent graduate from Texas A&M where I majored in physics. I know that for many highschoolers, physics and high- level math can seem daunting, and many seem to struggle. I wish to help at least some students so that they can succeed in their classes and maybe even become passionate about it.
I am a graduate student from Houston, Texas. I will begin my Master's program in Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M beginning in January 2018. I've had previous tutoring experience in SAT Math and ACT Math and Science. I like to encourage students to fully understand the concepts that they are learning; you will always use some form of math at all points in life! Outside of school and studying, I enjoy watching and playing sports. Whether it's basketball, football, baseball, or any other sport, I love discussing games and news.
I am a current student majoring in Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University at College Station. Despite my current path, English and writing are my true passions, and I take any opportunity to help others improve those skills, including Spanish-speaking students as well. I believe that education, especially literary analysis and writing, are essential to develop the critical thinking of all students. No matter the case, I will do my absolute best to help any and every student achieve their goals in English, essay writing, math, and more.
My reason for wanting to teach is purely to help change lives of students who are willing to learn and excel. I feel I can be in the best position to help students out by being a tutor for Varsity Tutors. My education from attaining a Masters in Biomedical Sciences and currently studying in a doctoral program to attain my Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree qualifies me to have the ability to help these students excel in their subjects. Working in the past with students on their dental admissions test (DAT) and other teaching assistant jobs, I feel I can make a difference. My strengths are in the biomedical sciences field. I am confident to teach basic math and also mentor and teach students who want to attain a better score on the DAT.I have worked with children since high school. I have volunteered at multiple clinics and camps where I was exposed to children and taught how to mentor them.I feel I can be a great tutor and role model for these future students who are willing to learn and work towards their goals.
As a passionate and dedicated educator, I believe that every child has the potential to succeed in mathematics when given the right support, encouragement, and tools. With a strong foundation in elementary education and 2 years of experience working with 5th-grade students, I've developed a teaching approach that combines patience, creativity, and personalized instruction to meet each student where they are. Math can be a challenging subject for many young learners, but I strive to make it engaging and approachable by connecting concepts to real-life examples and incorporating interactive problem-solving techniques. I focus not only on helping students master grade-level skills like fractions, decimals, and geometry but also on building their confidence and critical thinking abilities. Working with Varsity Tutors allows me to bring this individualized, student-centered approach to families who value academic growth and lifelong learning. I am excited about the opportunity to inspire students, support their unique learning journeys, and celebrate their progress every step of the way.
I attained my B.A. in French from Texas A&M University, where I studied abroad in Normandy, France for a year to enhance my cultural and linguistic knowledge. After coming back from France, I taught the language labs for French 101, where our goal was to practice the vocabulary learned in class and gain confidence using French. I then moved to Houston and received my M.A. in Linguistics from Rice University, where I researched speech acoustics and perception. Additionally, I was Teaching Assistant for the Intro to Linguistics and Phonetics classes, where I graded papers and answered students questions, occasionally even lecturing. After grad school, I taught English as a second language to adults, while at the same time continuing to tutor languages. At this time, I began to add other subjects to my teaching experience, including writing, pronunciation, listening and speaking, Spanish, SAT, GRE Verbal, GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL, and piano. My favorite subjects to tutor are language classes. My tutoring style can be characterized as patient and interactive; While Im confident that the content that I communicate benefits, feedback from the student is an integral part of my teaching. I believe that if the student can be communicative about what they do and do not understand, it will not only help me as the tutor, but more importantly, this will inform the students understanding of their own learning processes and where they are on their journey of learning. This concept of being self-aware in the learning process is central to my teaching style. When I am not tutoring, teaching, or helping others increase their communication skills, I can be found playing piano and saxophone around town with some bands, being upside down while practicing Acroyoga, biking around with friends, or playing with my dog.
I am a certified teacher who is passionate about students and their education. Education is the key to success and I believe anyone can learn. I am extremely patient and can teach key concepts in student-friendly terms. I taught high school English (Pre-AP and AP Literature) and love teaching a subject I'm passionate about.
Hi everyone! I will be attending Texas A&M University this fall as a sophomore, and working towards my Bachelor of Science in Biology on the pre-med track. In high school, I tutored children from the Chin community. As a tutor at that time, I helped the Chin children learn different methods of math models. Later in my junior year, I tutored a seventh grader in pre-algebra as part of the Math Buddies program in my school. I am most passionate about math, biology, and chemistry. I believe that an all-rounded education is very important to a child's quality of life, and one of the important facets of that is math education. Having a strong math education can lead to more career opportunities and greater success in an increasingly technological world, and I strongly emphasize it for my students. In my free time, I love to dance, draw, and spend quality time with friends and family.
Demonstrate passion in everything you do!
I am a graduate of Texas A and M University - College Station with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Early Childhood-6th) and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Gig 'Em! I am currently a 3rd Grade Math teacher and absolutely LOVE what I do! I have over 8 years of experience working with children through substitute teaching, working in extended day, tutoring, student teaching and now having a classroom of my own.My favorite subject to tutor is math. I have always loved the ability to determine an exact answer in math, yet finding different approaches and ways to get to that answer. I am a large proponent of finding strategies that work best for YOU. I therefore love to incorporate my students' interests and preferences when learning. I enjoy singing, dancing and incorporating hand movements to act as mnemonic devices to help with memory. As a visual/kinesthetic learner, I always strive to differentiate my teaching to meet the needs of my students because I know I always needed a different approach when learning in school myself. My students come first and I am here to help them find their strengths, grow and have fun while doing so! :)
I studied civil engineering at Texas A&M University where I received my Bachelor of Science and Masters of Engineering. Before I left the university to work as a structural engineer in Houston, I tutored for the Texas A&M Athletics Department, helping their student athletes tackle their math and science classes. I find I enjoy teaching and have the ability to simplify problems down to their basic building blocks which can be easily taught and learned. Once those blocks are known, it becomes fairly simple to build them back up to form the overall solution to the problem. I hope to use these skills with my students now as well to help them with their school problems. Once one understands the fundamentals of the problems, they gain confidence in breaking apart and tackling their own future problems.
My name is Edward. I look forward to helping out anyone that is facing academic or linguistic challenges. I have a Master In Education from Texas A and M College Station and currently teach 5th grade in New Orleans, LA. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 4th and 5th grade in a general education classroom and in a dual-language setting. I am fluent in Spanish and have experience teaching ELL students. I have tutored for Math courses as high as Pre-Calculus. I love teaching Math, Essay writing, and Reading. Those are the core subjects, I know, but I truly have a passion for teaching and seeing individual growth in those I help tutor. I understand that everyone learns differently and look forward to helping you achieve your goals by differentiating my instruction so that you can feel comfortable and positive about the learning experience.
I am a current student at Texas A&M University and am working on my bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering. In the past I have worked with students of all ages to work on leadership and community skills. I also used to be in my school's band where I helped lead my section and gained experience teaching my peers. I am most passionate about math and have myself completed math courses including calculus and differential equations. I believe that education is one of the most important things someone can have and that it is something that everyone is capable of achieving.
I'm a born and raised Austinite and recently earned my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University in May 2015. I mostly tutor high school/college math and science courses, as well as SAT/ACT and MCAT prep. My favorite classes to help students with are biology, physics, biochemistry and statistics! I took 14 AP classes in high school, and retook many of the math and sciences class in college. I think this helps with tutoring because I learned the material multiple times and from many great teachers, so if a student doesn't understand a concept at first, I can hopefully explain it in another way that I've learned.I like working with students that are self motivated and want to have a tutor, no matter their current skill level in a class. Having a great teacher or tutor won't help if the student does not want to learn and put in the work. However, I truly believe any student can not just succeed, but excel, if they work hard and have the right support system.Aside from tutoring, I love to cook and play Ultimate Frisbee. I also work as an emergency room medical scribe, and I am extremely excited to be attending medical school at UTMB in Galveston in August 2016!
I am a proud graduate of Texas A&M University with my Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Accounting. Shortly after graduation, I obtained my CPA License in the State of Texas (Certified Public Accounting). I have an immense amount of experience with working with accounting concepts, standards, and financial statements. I love to share with anyone the best practices and methods to understanding one of the least liked subjects.Although I am an accountant by day, my love and passion is for writing, reading, and comprehension. After being published at the age of 10, I knew that I truly have a talent in writing. Shortly after, throughout middle school, high school, and college, I found an interest in helping my other peers with mechanics, comprehension, creativity, diction, and syntax. All in all, I have a zealous and fun-loving personality and one of my strengths is being able to connect and engage with my students! I like to think of creative techniques to engage my students and attempt to make learning fun. I am well versed in many subjects, and look forward to sharing with you!

In addition to my educational endeavors, I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee, doing crossfit, reading, and attending church-related events.
I hold a doctoral degree in Chemistry from Texas A&M University. Currently I am a postdoctoral associate at Trinity University where I am pursing additional training in teaching and research. Teaching has been a passion of mine; from my eagerness to mentor the kids in my neighborhood to my excitement of giving a mini lecture on the concept of balancing chemical equations in my middle school class to the time I gave my first research talk in college. Such moments have played a significant role in my long term career goals of teaching and mentoring students as they prepare for their different academic work. My attitude towards learning is "don't be afraid to ask for help". Essentially, I look forward to working with students to help them succeed in the areas they need help with.
I am a mechanical engineering student at Texas A&M, and am able to teach AP Calculus AB, Calculus 1, Pre-Calculus, Algebra 2, Algebra 1, and lower level math courses. I like to ensure my students have a foundational understanding of math, and are able to connect concepts across different courses in order to understand the bigger picture in their curriculum. Outside of tutoring, I am also working as a research assistant, focusing on machine learning and robotics.
I am a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, but I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma. While I tutor a variety of subjects, some of my favorites are German, math, and English. I have been tutoring students in German, Algebra, Geometry, and SAT preparation for almost ten years. I have worked with eighth-graders preparing for private school entrance exams, have taught Algebra in public school, and I currently teach philosophy at a New Jersey community college. I enjoy helping my students learn to solve problems on their own, think for themselves, and learn the strategies to excel at standardized tests. In my free time I play soccer and sing karaoke with friends, volunteer my time with Trenton's Habitat for Humanity, and I'm currently teaching myself French.
Hi there! I am a creative individual with a technical-mind. I love math, any creative outlet, and helping people succeed at their work or studies. My tutoring style involves a mix of repetition, real-world analogies, and hand-drawn pictures/diagrams to help my students grasp the concepts they are struggling with. I have learned to use such a variety of tools in my own studies. Now, as I work with my own students, I gauge their comprehension while working through material and apply different techniques based on their personality/learning style. While I love sharing what I know, I like to ask questions that will lead the student to discover the answer themselves. In my experience, I gain more confidence when an answer I generate is affirmed, as opposed to just being fed the answer in a lecture. Learning is better as an interactive experience.I graduated from Lone Star College in 2017 with an Honors Associate of Science degree, and now I'm living and loving the Aggie life as a transfer student at Texas A&M in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. When I'm not studying or working, I love hanging out with friends, doing volunteer work, and building with my Lego collection whatever my imagination (and available pieces) will allow me to.I have been a tutor for the last academic year, and I love being able to help students succeed in their studies. My tutoring experience includes areas of physics, math, and writing. Below is a list highlighting my tutoring experience.Physics:AP Physics C (Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism)College/University Physics I and II.Math:Elementary School MathCollege AlgebraCalculus IBusiness CalculusWriting:EditingWord-choiceContinuityCiting SourcesCheck below for a full list of the subjects I have excelled in and can tutor. After obtaining an Associate's Degree in Science from Navarro College, I transferred into Texas A and M's Computer Engineering department in 2015. I am currently progressing towards my Bachelor's in this area. I tutored students while attending Navarro in Math and Science. Coincidentally, these are my favorite subjects even though that is what was in demand at the time. I seemed to flourish in these subjects when I broke theorems down into easier to understand rules, rather than always trying to apply the complicated jargon in the textbook. After implementing this into my tutoring, I noticed that it helped students feel at ease with the material. When I am not studying, I like to workout and practice overall fitness.
I've always had a passion for working with kids and helping them build confidence in themselves, especially when it comes to learning. Math and science can feel overwhelming at first, but I love breaking things down in a way that actually makes sense and helps it "click." Every child learns differently, and I take the time to figure out what works best for them so they can not only understand the material, but feel proud of what they're accomplishing. There's nothing better than seeing that moment when a student goes from frustrated to confident. My goal isn't just to help with homework, it's to help students truly understand what they're learning and feel good doing it. I care about their progress, their mindset, and making learning a positive experience they don't dread. If you're looking for someone who genuinely loves working with kids and is committed to helping them succeed, I'd love to work with your student! -Hannah <3
I graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University and now am a medical student at Texas A&M College of Medicine. I have knowledge in a broad field of areas and subjects and I am always excited to teach willing students. My philosophy is that there are no hard subjects. Any difficult concept can be broken down into easier, more digestible content, based on how well a tutor can understand their students. And that is what I believe I can help achieve with any student of mine of any age.
I'm an electrical engineering student obtaining my bachelor's degree and a mathematics minor at Texas A&M University with a strong foundation in mathematics and science. My academic experience includes Calculus I-III, Differential Equations, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Communications and Cryptography. I'm passionate about teaching and find great fulfillment in helping others understand challenging concepts. Over the years, I've enjoyed tutoring friends, family, and peers, and I've consistently received positive feedback on my ability to explain topics clearly and patiently. I'm currently available to tutor Algebra I-II, AP Calculus, College Calculus 1, College Chemistry I-II, and introductory Python. My favorite subjects to tutor are math topics up through Calculus 1, as I've always found joy in solving problems by manipulating equations to meet the needs of the problems. One of my long-term goals is to become a grade school teacher, where I can continue to share this passion with younger students. My teaching approach is centered around understanding each student's current knowledge, breaking down problems into understandable steps, and guiding them through my thought process while offering feedback and practice opportunities. Outside of academics, I enjoy staying active, bowling, playing tennis and pickleball, working, and I also love cooking and traveling.
Education has always been a journey of discovery and resilience for me. I earned a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M and then attended UT Southwestern for medical school. I am now a resident physician with an MD and MPH working at a large county hospital. My experience as a tutor has been shaped by both my academic background and my own learning challenges. As a tutor for medical students at my school, I have found fulfillment in breaking down complex subjects like physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology in ways that make them more accessible. Having navigated my own educational path with a diagnosis of ADHD, I understand that learning is not one-size-fits-all. My approach is centered on meeting students where they are and equipping them with strategies tailored to their unique strengths. Whether through active recall, visual learning, or problem-based approaches, my goal is to help students unlock their full potential in a way that feels intuitive and sustainable for THEM.

Let me help you ace the verbal section of your standardized test.Critical reading sections can be tough if you aren't prepared for them! I scored in the top 98% on the verbal section of the GRE, and want to share my expertise with you. Don't be intimidated by the vocab and critical reading sections of standardized tests. With my techniques, anyone can confidently get the score they need on the SAT or GRE.In addition to test preparation, I am available to tutor APUSH, AP European History, public speaking, literature, and writing. With over two years of experience as an educator at a Tier-1 University, I can guarantee that you or your child will receive the care and commitment of a qualified teacher.
I graduated Stephen F. Austin High School with a distinguished diploma and Cum Laude. Currently, I am studying at Texas A&M University to receive a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in History. While studying at Austin High School, I tutored students in a one to one setting for Honors Chemistry I. I also tutored between six and ten students in a group setting for the U.S. History AP exam. Following graduation, I have tutored students in a one to one setting via Skype or in person over the topics mentioned earlier. Professionally, I have tutored children below the age of 8 in basic mathematics and reading comprehension, while also serving as an assignment grader and answer key maker.Overall, I enjoy teaching subjects ranging from the humanities and social sciences to fundamental math and science; however, I personally love to teach History and Writing due to their importance in the realm of personal and intellectual development. History is the story of how the world arrived at its present state, and it is filled with hard lessons and memories learned from those long past. Written language is one of mankind's greatest achievements, as it allows us to communicate with and pass on knowledge much farther than our voices can project, and much deeper than simple memory will allow. Taken together, these subjects give students the power to analyze and record their observations and stretch their creative talents. I believe that education, and specifically knowledge, is the first step towards removing ignorance and discord in our world, and I always try to impart that belief on my students through the Socratic Method; rather than giving the answer, I try to lead students in the right path, as the feeling of wonder when experiencing inspiration and discovery itself justifies the place of knowledge in personal development. In my spare time, aside from intellectual growth, I like to play video games, read good books, and watch movies from all genres. Also, spending time with family and friends can never be overemphasized.
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. I went to a great, small Charter school that allowed me to be involved in tons of activities: Art Club, Latin Club, Newspaper Editor, Mock Trial, Speech & Debate, Model U.N., Prom Committee, Volleyball, Church Choir and Yearbook Committee. In addition, I was very involved in my community serving as a youth commissioner for the City of Phoenix Human Relations Commission that sought to right all injustices and support under-represented communities in the Valley. I also served as a Youth Ambassador to Taipei, Taiwan and participated in an exchange/hosting experience. Thanks to my education, I scored well on the PSAT and became a National Merit Scholar. In 2007, I graduated high school and was offered a full-tuition scholarship to Texas A&M University. After a summer studying in Tuscany, Italy, I started my four year undergraduate career at A&M. I have a Bachelor's in French, having studied abroad in Normandy. While at University, I was a Teaching Assistant for French 101 classes, leading oral laboratory classes twice a week, grading all homework and offering additional private tutoring for struggling students. I also have a minor in Art & Architectural History- my favorite period is over-the-top Rococo shortly followed by more austere Ancient Greek architecture. I've taught ESL in France for the past three summers as well as full-time after graduation. While in France, I held private tutoring for a 5th grader, a high school senior and a conversation group for 50+. I've tutored children as young as 5, middle and high school students, advanced university students and adults.I love the French language and culture so much and would love to help encourage you, too! I've also got a strong background in European History, and have done lots of work helping students perfect their English essays.

While tutors focus primarily on academic instruction rather than career advising, many Texas A&M graduates can share valuable perspectives about different majors based on their own experience—what coursework is like, how demanding different programs are, and what skills each major develops. This can help you make a more informed decision about your academic path. For formal advising, you'll want to connect with academic advisors at the university itself.
