I am a certified former Spanish teacher and current school administrator. I have a passion for teaching and learning and I love helping students understand and use Spanish. As a non-native speaker who has earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish and both a master's and doctorate degrees in education, I understand the experience of learning Spanish as a second language and can assist both native and non-native Spanish speaker in understanding the rules of the Spanish language.

I am a lifelong learner who enjoys everything about the educational process. I have been an educator in public and private school as well as homeschooled my own children. I've had good pleasure of teaching preschool through grad school. The thing I most enjoy about teaching is watching students gather information and make new learning connections.
I am a proud graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics there and went on to develop my love for exploring by moving to Los Angeles shortly afterward. While in Southern California, I worked hard to build up my experience by doing private tutoring, working at after school institutes and substitute teaching. I eventually received my teaching credential in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics and taught at a charter school for 3 fulfilling years. I enjoy working with students of all grade levels and ages, but really enjoy the connection with secondary education students, as I have the most experience in that field. I can tutor a wide range of subjects but I have the most success with Math and Grammar. In my spare time, I love to live life to its fullest. This includes traveling to different countries and cities, photography and even thrill activities like parkour.
I retired from NASA in November 2024 after a 36 year career. I was Deputy Chief of the Space Projects and Partnerships branch at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center, Edwards Air Force Base, California, where I had worked since 1988, except for a short stint in commercial aerospace in 1996 and a detail assignment to Mojave Air and Space Port in 2013. I have served in many discipline areas during my career, including, flight controls and flight systems engineering, software engineering, information technology management, and various roles in program and project management. I am passionate about STEM education. I teach courses in Python programming, data analysis using Python, and 3D modeling. I am currently developing a course in creative writing using the Inform 7 interactive fiction platform. I really love programming and using computers to create and to solve problems. I earned a B.S. Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott AZ (1992), and an MBA with IT emphasis from University of La Verne (2008). I am an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and am a registered Project Management Professional (PMP, 2007). I am a Certified Entry-Level Python ProgrammerPCEP (ID: pcfZ.ot3b.bau5).
As a tutor, I have an extensive background in Spanish and public speaking. I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy helping students learn how to hold conversations while building their vocabulary and confidence in a new language. With public speaking, I have been presenting research, papers, and reports for over 15 years and know how to help students overcome their nerves while speaking in a relaxed manner to their peers. Additionally, my teaching style is student centered as I concentrate on the student's needs and use their strengths to help them achieve their goals. As a bilingual school psychologist, I have 11 years of experience identifying students' weaknesses in the areas of reading, writing, and math due to learning disabilities and turn them into strengths to make the learning experience fun and understandable. Overall, I like to create a trusting environment for my students where they can learn the material while having fun. Seeing my students find their "aha!" moment is what makes me passionate about what I do!
Hi, my name is Ms. Deborah but you can call me Ms. D. I have been a teacher for over 15 years. I love helping students learn new skills or information. I believe that all students can learn and one of the best ways to do that is to use the modality that best works for the student. I'm licensed and have a masters degree. I enjoy learning new things and I am here to help you learn new things too.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of LaVerne, a small, private college just outside of Pasadena, California. My degree is in Liberal Studies, but I have an undeclared minor in English.I am a passionate teacher that believes you're never too young or old to learn something new everyday. I am a life-long learner and would love to share my passion for learning with others, regardless of age or perceived disability. I have worked for years with students that are considered "learning disabled" and have helped them understand how to best learn for themselves. I love to read (especially Science Fiction and Historical Fiction) and I always "have my nose in a book." I want to share this enthusiasm so that others can learn to read for pleasure. I am also passionate about writing and strong communication skills. I enjoy music of all genres, baking, historical documentaries, and I love being outside and walking. I would love to help others with reading, writing, social studies, and critical thinking. I have taught and tutored all ages from Preschool to adults.
