I graduated from the University of North Texas. I received my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Since graduation, I have worked as a social worker but decided to leave to pursue a career in teaching. I have experience working as a teacher's aide and I am currently a second grade teacher.The subjects that I am most passionate about are English, Language Arts (specifically phonics and phonemic awareness), and Math. I enjoy teaching students and working together to learn new things! I am passionate about teaching and I aspire to make positive changes in the lives of the students that I teach. When I am tutoring, I will work with the students to determine what they already know. Then I will explain the parts they don’t know or guide them into discovering how to work the problem. After that, I will provide examples or use similar problems to have them work it out themselves to make sure that they understand the process. I will also have the students return to that same type of problem later on in the session to reinforce what they have learned. Of course, I understand that each student is different and may need different teaching strategies or methods in order to help him or her understand the material. I will be sure to get to know each one of my students to learn the best ways to teach and work with them.

Every person deserves an education, and every student deserves to be taught it well. There are so many people around the world who want to learn music but have never found a teacher that truly makes them love it. Or, some students have teachers that make them hate music. My job is to make sure that whatever my students choose to do with music, they are not only learning in the process but enjoying it. I am a recent graduate of the University of North Texas College of Music with a Bachelor's of Music in Vocal Performance Major with a focus in Violin. I am teaching general music, basic music theory, voice, violin, and piano here at varsity tutors! Math has always been my favorite subject growing up. I've always intertwined music and math which is one of the reasons why I'm a huge nerd of music theory. I received a BA in Spanish from the University of North Texas with a minor in Music and I received a Master's in Spanish from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, where I worked as a Spanish teacher, translator and guest lecturer. During my time in graduate school, I also worked for the University Writing Center as an ESL (English as a Second Language) instructor to international students. When I graduated in 2013, I continued teaching ESL to adult learners at Austin Community College before moving to Dallas this year.
