I am a graduate of Washington State University Vancouver with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. I am endorsed in Elementary Education and ELL. I have worked with all grades K-12 through my student teaching and substituting. I love teaching math and helping students grasp mathematical concepts. I believe that everybody is capable of success and learning, and I love being a part of that process. Outside of teaching I love getting involved in theatre, singing, and watching movies.

I graduated from the University of Washington in 1996 and traveled across the state to join the ranks of our "arch enemy" at Washington State University for graduate school in Speech-Language Pathology, completing my masters degree in 1998. It wasn't until about 2010 that I realized I have always been a coach. In middle school, I was a peer coach. In high school, I volunteered as a counselor at a nature conservation camp for 5th and 6th graders. In college, I began coaching football at the high school level. My studies lead me to working with elementary and secondary school students focusing on speech and language development. However, I absolutely LOVE teaching math. It's numbers that really show a young person's mind at work. My passion is helping others succeed. When the light goes on in a young person's mind, it brings a huge smile to my face. I simply love coaching others to success. In my spare time, I enjoy reading spy novels, cycling and watching sports.

Hello! I have been teaching/tutoring for almost 10 years now and have worked with students from elementary levels to doctoral levels. I currently am an adjunct professor in neuroscience and psychology at Dominican University and work for a biotechnology company. I have my PhD in neuropharmacology and my undergraduate degree is in neuroscience and psychology. I am a published author with six manuscripts in top tier peer-reviewed journals, a book chapter in preparation and have lectured at a large variety of invited speaking events. I have taken many many science, math and psychology courses. I love to learn and love to help other people learn both basic and complicated topics. I am a graduate of Washington State University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a focus on Journalism and Public Relations. While in college, I took the opportunity to study abroad in Spain for a summer, where I took three months of intensive language classes. My experience abroad allowed me to achieve a double major in Spanish Language Studies. Throughout high school and college, I volunteered for peer mentoring programs.I spent much of my free time tutoring students in English, Public speaking, and Spanish. I feel passionate about tutoring programs because growing up, I used them. Tutoring is an integral part in the learning process because every person learns in a unique way. I am a graduate of Washington State University with a doctorate of philosophy degree in education. I have been working in education for more than 20 years. I am currently a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Anthropology. As a student myself I know the importance of getting the right instruction and guidance. I'm a current graduate student and TA in mathematics at Western Washington University with a BS in Mathematics with Honors from WSU. I started out in Mechanical Engineering, but I realized through tutoring and teaching assistant positions that I really love helping students break through obstacles in their education, specifically in math and science. I firmly believe that math should never be an obstacle to any path someone may want to pursue in life, whether that be a college STEM education or simply passing pre-calculus. I also really enjoy helping with test prep and helping students learn the little tricks to get consistently high scores.

I am a current undergraduate student at Washington State University. I will graduate with a BA in Humanities and I plan on returning to either Washington State University or Western Washington University to get my post baccalaureate degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. After earning my second BA, I plan on attending graduate school with the hopes of obtaining my clinical PhD and becoming an audiologist. I love learning and plan on attending continuing education workshops throughout my career. I have previous tutoring experience that ranges from tutoring students with learning disabilities to helping my fellow peers in college. In my personal time, I enjoy jogging and plan on running a half marathon some day. BA in Professional Writing and Rhetorical Analysis. In essence, I have spent a LOT of time writing essays, learning how to dissect reading materials, and how to work through the difficulties writing commonly presents. From kids just learning how to dive into stories and how to communicate what they're reading from their growing brains to paper and pencil, to college students struggling to get an essay format down, I am here to help! Writing is like a puzzle, and I love helping anyone, any age, put those pieces together.

Educating students for over 10 years has been a privilege. Particularly gratifying is the opportunity to witness my pupils progress in mathematics. After teaching math for nearly a decade, I completed my graduate work last year in Educational leadership with a follow up credential in administration. In the past, my students in mathematics routinely have returned to visit, sharing their continued successes following what was learned as a member of my classroom. I want to continue to help children "get it" as they are called on to rise to new heights in an increasingly competitive academic and occupational climate. I have decided to continue within the Varsity Tutors platform with the goal of increasing the scope of students I can assist in their math skills development.
