I am an experienced career counselor and certified French interpreter pursuing my Master's in Psychotherapy.I have experience tutoring adults and children in a wide variety of subjects including but not limited to French, Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Chemistry, Psychology, Resume Writing, and Art.I have been recognized by the State of Connecticut for my outstanding work helping the general public, ex-offenders, and Connecticut's Haitian population find gainful employment. I take great pride in helping individuals of varying mental, physical, or socioeconomic backgrounds meet their educational and/or career goals by providing a supportive and personalized tutoring plan.

I spend my days doing my favorite things in the world: educating and learning from creative, inquisitive kids. I currently create mathematics curriculum for several local school districts, teach pre-kindergarten physical education classes, and run a cooperative education program in the Naugatuck Valley of Connecticut. My current goal is to step back into the classroom and teach in an elementary school.Over the years I have worked in a variety of areas in the field of education. I have worked in many different settings with children of all ages, abilities, interests and backgrounds. My journey started while I was interning in the Hamden Police Department, in an effort to engage the community into the workings of the police department, the detective I was working under and I created a citizens academy to teach community members about law, and the police department. While teaching classes at our newly established, my intern supervisor insisted I should look into teaching, and pointed me in the direction of an alternative education program that would merge my interest in the field of law and all things legal and my talents within the classroom atmosphere.While still in my undergraduate college, I gained employment as a Behavioral Interventionist for the Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) Alternative school. I have learned through this experience how to interact and connect with challenging students, how to engage in conversation with them and how to work on their language skills from a beginner to intermediate level. I so enjoyed engaging these challenged students that I solidified my decision to enroll in the graduate of education program at the University of New Haven.

I became a teacher because of my passion for sharing knowledge shaped by a diverse formal education, life experience, and global travel. Many years of building meaningful connections with learners of all ages and backgrounds keeps me passion alive for over 20 years.My undergraduate degree from RI College is in Middle School Social Studies and Elementary Education. I studied in New Haven, CT for my Master of Arts degree is in Art Therapy. I have worked with children and adults in these areas at schools, online and at a veteran's hospital.I follow the philosopy and Theory of Multiple Intelligences. It suggests individuals have unique intellectual gifts of these different intelligences, which can be nurtured in areas of visual, kinesthetic, musical, spatial, interpersonal, etc.One of my key areas of expertise is years of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). These experiences have given me a broad, culturally sensitive perspective and a deep understanding of how students from different backgrounds learn most effectively. What truly fuels my passion for teaching, however, is the inspiration I draw from my students each with their own unique stories, goals, and learning styles. Their individuality continually shapes and refines my approach as an educator.I also enjoy teaching a variety of school subjects including history, reading books, science, and help with one of my favorite subjects, creative art school projects.As part of my story, I am a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. I can bring a deep understanding of the unique challenges military families face, both during active and inactive duty, which allows me to relate to and support them in meaningful ways.I look forward to welcoming you into my classroom, and getting to know you as we go on this excitig learning journey.
