I have a passion for learning and education. My experience within the education field comes from teaching 6th - 12th grade; Law, US History, World History, African American History, Character and Leadership Development, and Reading. Additionally, i was a Dean of Students for Middle and High School students. I have experience teaching adults within a variety of sectors to include military and civilian learning environments.

I am a speech-language pathologist in the state of GA. I have a masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders and I am pursuing my doctorate in speech-language pathology. I am knowledgable in foundations of the English language, learning disabilities, and executive functioning abilities needed for improved study skills. I'm looking forward to helping those who need assistance with learning various subjects as well as preparing for vocational changes.

I am a graduate of Savannah State University and Armstrong Atlantic State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in teaching and my Masters of Art in Teaching Secondary Mathematics. Since graduation, I have taught high school level math courses 6 years in Savannah, GA. and 5 years in Norcross, GA. While I tutor a broad range of math subjects, I am most passionate about Algebra 1. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for tests, we always seem to have the most fun when the student relaxes and realizes it is okay to make mistakes because that is where you learn. I am a firm believer that every child can learn given the right environment and support.

I received my B.A. in English, Language and Literature from Savannah State University. From there, I attended Armstrong State University and obtained my M.A. in Professional Communication and Leadership. I have experience working with with elementary, middle, high school, and college students. I helped execute the "Henry and Beezus" project for a semester at Thunderbolt Elementary School in Savannah, GA. I volunteered as a DEEP Writing Fellow at Myers Middle School, in which I led workshops and helped publish 8 students at the end of the semester. I served as the QEP Student Outreach Coordinator at Savannah State University for 2 years, which is a program dedicated to helping students improve their writing skills. I, now, teach 9th Grade Literature. Some of my hobbies/interests include: reading, writing different pieces (poetry, scripts, short stories, etc.), going to concerts/live band performances, shopping, and eating great food! I look forward to working with students and seeing their academic growth.

I believe all students can learn, it just takes the teacher and tutor to find how that student can best understand the content given to them. That's my goal with working through Varsity Tutors, to find that place of understanding with students to help them connect with the content they're learning.

I provide a safe atmosphere for children and youth to establish a confidence in learning one of the nation's toughest subjects: MATH. I enjoy partnering with parents, educators, and schools to provide students an opportunity to reach their fullest potential and achieve academic success. Opportunities, such as these, are more than a "paycheck" to me because I understand the important role tutors play in closing the achievement gap of Education. My experience reaches from elementary level subjects to high-level college mathematics. I am excited to demonstrate for students the tools I utilized that assisted me in my academic career. My goal is to become a certified middle-school Math teacher and full-time tutor in the next 3 years, and continue learning the needs of our future generation.
