I am a former high school math teacher with 9 years classroom teaching experience as well as 3 years of individual tutoring experience. I have a physics teaching degree with a minor in math from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. I have a masters in education from Bethel University in McKenzie, TN. I have taught in 3 very different school settings throughout my career. I have taught algebra 1, algebra 2, integrated math 1, 2, and 3, IB math, and physics. I believe that all students CAN be successful in math and my goal is to help them realize their learning potential. My favorite thing about teaching/tutoring is when a student finally makes a connection and understands something that they previously were confused about. Seeing the lightbulb turn on and them begin to feel confident in their math abilities is why I do what I do.

I graduated from Bethel University with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature Studies and Writing. Since leaving school, I have volunteered as a tutor with the Hubbs Center helping adult ESL learners better their English and technology skills, and worked as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow with the Minnesota Internship Center Charter School helping high school students bolster their grades and improve their classroom engagement. When it comes to subject matter, I love helping students dig into texts and improve their writing abilities to better express themselves. Everyone learns differently. My goal when I sit down with is student is to find the ways that work best for them so that they gain the skills and confidence to take on any future challenges. In my spare time, I can most often be found writing, reading a variety of books, playing both tabletop and video games, going yoga, and getting out into nature whenever I can.

I am a third-year student at Bethel University, studying to receive my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education for grades 5-12. Hi! I'm Dylan and I'm excited to be tutoring you! I am studying Computer Science at Bethel University and I worked as a tutor for Math and Reading at Kumon Learning Center for a couple years. I try to be as concise as possible when working with my students and do my best to make sure that they understand the concepts of the material being taught.

I have 18 years teaching experience as an elementary ESL and middle school Spanish teacher in Minnesota with students from about 20 different countries and many language backgrounds. In 2019 I was nominated for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. It makes my day to see students proud of reaching each goal they set out to conquer! I've worked with students on English listening, speaking, reading, vocabulary and phonics goals, as well as language-related content goals (science, math, social studies, etc) in order to improve test-taking skills and increase enjoyment of the subject area. While learning, we try to keep things fun with TPR movements, music, mnemonics, game-style learning activities, etc., as it helps our brain remember when we feel at ease. However, I also keep high expectations so students grow as much as possible. That's why my students feel proud of their accomplishments - they worked hard and earned it!

After getting my degree in Mathematics Education at Bethel University I spent three years teaching high school math. I taught Geometry, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 including slower paced versions of these courses for students who needed extra resourcing and support in math courses. I loved working with students to create a fun atmosphere where every student could experience success! After three years of teaching a new job opportunity came along at the church we attend that fit better schedule wise for my family. I cannot wait to work with students again!!

I graduated from Rush University Medical college in 2021 and am currently an intern at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes Jewish Hospital. I received my Bachelor of Science at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN with a Biochemistry/Molecular Biology major and Psychology minor. Growing up in a household of teachers and being a collegiate swimmer, I understand both educational/learning theory, how to personalize lessons to the learner, test taking strategies and time management skills. I have extensive tutoring experience both as an individual tutor and group tutor in math/science and, of course, medicine. I have proven strategies that work for med school work as well as USMLE Step 1 and 2CK that I want to share! I am a graduate of Bethel University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a focus on education, American government, and public policy. I volunteered to teach reading for years and received my ESL tutoring certificate. After graduation, I started tutoring K-2 students during the COVID-19 pandemic in reading and math and hosted a pod classroom for students K-5. While I tutor both Reading/Writing and Math K-5, I am most passionate about teaching reading in grades K-2. I love the little ones' confidence grows so quickly when learning to read and write. In my experience helping struggling students catch up on their reading skills, I have helped students go from crying at the thought of writing half a sentence to writing many sentences in one sitting, and those experiences help me continue helping other students.
