I am a third-year student at Bethel University, studying to receive my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education for grades 5-12. I have worked as a teacher's assistant for 5 semesters, and have been an individual tutor as well. I've always been passionate about learning and teaching, and never pass up an opportunity to help a friend out with their homework. I had the opportunity to observe a British secondary school during my study abroad term this past January, which I found to be an enjoyable and enlightening experience. I am a firm believer that education is of critical importance in both personal development and becoming an influential person in this world. I graduated from Rush University Medical college in 2021 and am currently an intern at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes Jewish Hospital. I received my Bachelor of Science at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN with a Biochemistry/Molecular Biology major and Psychology minor. Growing up in a household of teachers and being a collegiate swimmer, I understand both educational/learning theory, how to personalize lessons to the learner, test taking strategies and time management skills. I have extensive tutoring experience both as an individual tutor and group tutor in math/science and, of course, medicine. I have proven strategies that work for med school work as well as USMLE Step 1 and 2CK that I want to share! I graduated from Bethel University with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature Studies and Writing. Since leaving school, I have volunteered as a tutor with the Hubbs Center helping adult ESL learners better their English and technology skills, and worked as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow with the Minnesota Internship Center Charter School helping high school students bolster their grades and improve their classroom engagement. When it comes to subject matter, I love helping students dig into texts and improve their writing abilities to better express themselves. Everyone learns differently. My goal when I sit down with is student is to find the ways that work best for them so that they gain the skills and confidence to take on any future challenges. In my spare time, I can most often be found writing, reading a variety of books, playing both tabletop and video games, going yoga, and getting out into nature whenever I can.

I have 18 years teaching experience as an elementary ESL and middle school Spanish teacher in Minnesota with students from about 20 different countries and many language backgrounds. In 2019 I was nominated for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. It makes my day to see students proud of reaching each goal they set out to conquer! I've worked with students on English listening, speaking, reading, vocabulary and phonics goals, as well as language-related content goals (science, math, social studies, etc) in order to improve test-taking skills and increase enjoyment of the subject area. While learning, we try to keep things fun with TPR movements, music, mnemonics, game-style learning activities, etc., as it helps our brain remember when we feel at ease. However, I also keep high expectations so students grow as much as possible. That's why my students feel proud of their accomplishments - they worked hard and earned it!
