I am Project Manager by day and a cheerleading coach by night. I have a B.S. and M.B.A in Business Administration from the University of Georgia and two certifications on Project Management. I am extremely proficient in these areas as well as writing, secondary mathematics, and literacy. My favorite subjects are geared toward business and writing. I am eager to share my experience and passion for helping others. School can be tough, and I'm happy to help.

Greetings students! I love helping students achieve their career goals and aspirations. I love to demonstrate my 15 years of Kinder-12th Grade and University-Level mathematics tutoring experience during my lessons! I was a Pure and Applied Mathematics major in undergrad. My favorite subjects to tutor are Calculus, Real Analysis, and Abstract Algebra. I am here to break down each mathematics problem step by step! Tutoring is all about breaking everything down to ensure all students have a clear understanding! I have a deep passion for both the arts and sciences. I play the trumpet and drum set, which allows me to express creativity and discipline through music. On the academic side, I'm particularly interested in mathematics and education, with a focus on tutoring and making complex concepts accessible to learners. My interests also include Python programming, mathematical cryptography, and applied cryptography areas where logic, problem-solving, and real-world application intersect. I'm especially enthusiastic about combining mathematics and technology in educational contexts.
My teaching philosophy centers on clarity, curiosity, and confidence-building. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and actively participating in the learning process. Rather than focusing only on memorization, I aim to help students understand the "why" behind concepts so they can apply their knowledge independently and think critically.
I have always been a reflective person, so when it comes to teaching I am one who reflects often, thoughtfully, and intuitively. I believe that when working with student it is essential to help each student become reflective and metacognitive about their own learning. If students are reflective in their learning process they will be able to advocate what they need to continue learning, they will be able to understand how to seek out knowledge, and they will become life-long learners as a result.
I am a graduate of Bethune-Cookman University, where I received my bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Since graduating with my bachelor's degree, I have graduated from Hunter College in New York. I have received my master's degrees in Education with a focus in Special Education. I have had extensive training and experience in a high school setting using skills taught to enhance student improvement within the classroom. Being able to modify and find innovative ways to teach struggling learners is one of my areas expertise. I currently teach in Broward county and I work with students in one-on-one settings and small group instruction. I enjoy reading but, in particular I like to read about current events. I love to explore and travel to learn more about the world that we live in. My passion is to help struggling learners and really see students grow in their education.
I truly love to learn and inspire others to become lifelong learners. For this reason, I entered the teaching profession, but not all students are able to understand and apply content presented in their K-12 classrooms. Tutoring offers students the opportunity to bridge gaps and strengthen areas of weakness left from previous years of education. I want as many students as possible to experience engaging, memorable learning strategies to strengthen their understanding of content.
I'm Alexis, and I love helping students feel confident and excited about learning! I specialize in 2nd4th grade math, including number sense, fractions, early algebra, and geometry, and I make every lesson clear, fun, and engaging. I'm also strong in reading and writing, and I enjoy helping students build fluency, comprehension, and expressive writing skills. My tutoring style is positive, patient, and encouragingI meet students where they are and help them grow with support and enthusiasm. I can't wait to help your child shine!
