I became a teacher to be around learning and knowledge and I fell in love with kids after that. Now I am in teaching to allow students to discover how they were meant to contribute to the world in their lifetime. I am well suited for this role because I understand that socio emotional health comes first and I am good at fortifying that in people, so they can move forward with a positive relationship to learning.

I earned my BA from the University of the State of New York majoring in education, music, Latin, and Mathematics. I earned my MA Humanities of fine arts history, Literature from California State University, earned post-graduate studies in Reading and Education from the University of Colorado. After moving to Florida, I continued my education earning an Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of West Florida with focus on Diversity Studies and Educational Technology. My philosophies of education include Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, and Dweck's Growth Mindset along with a focus in Perennialism, that truths and facts never change, and with the student focus philosophy of Progressivism that learning is active and should lead to critical thinking and problem solving as a life-long learner. I am available Monday - Friday am and pm, Saturdays am with some flexibility. With certification in 8 subjects, I am confident that I can help you!
I am currently a high school teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada. The reason I have chosen to tutor with Varsity Tutors is in order to treat this like an extension of the very job I love doing so much--teaching. I believe that I have learned many ways to connect with students the past few years, giving each one the individual attention they need in order to help them realize their potentiality as a life-long learner. I think that really is the ongoing goal of education: to be a life-long learner who never quits achieving new things. I teach English for 9th grade this year, but have also taught 10th and 12th grade in the past. I know I can help students of all ages with a variety of English related tasks.
