I am a graduate of California State University, and I received my Bachelor's in Public and Oral History. This degree required coursework in several fields of history including American History, Medieval History, European History, and Ancient History, as well as classes in Research, Preservation, and Presentation of Findings. This degree has given me a unique understanding of how to approach a wide variety of people and adapt my lessons to their needs - something I often had to do while I was a Docent at the Robert and Francis Fullerton Museum of Art, which also housed the largest Ancient Egyptian exhibit west of the Mississippi. While attending Cal State, I also contributed to and Copy Edited the school's nationally award-winning history publication for 3 years. While working toward both of my degrees, I was also tutoring fellow students as well as ESL adults at my local library. Once I graduated, I became a Substitute Teacher where I worked with K-12 students in various subjects. The knowledge I gained while doing so is immeasurable, and I always look back on my time at those schools fondly. In some cases I was a 30-Day Substitute, which meant that I was fully in charge of the classroom - lesson planning, quizzes, state testing preparation, and grading. I truly believe that knowledge is power and that learning should always be fun. Every subject matter can be taught in an engaging way and every student can excel - especially when they are met with positive reinforcement, empathy, and adaptive education.

I love teaching and tutoring because it's an area in which I have some expertise, and I'm able to help others achieve their goals with my skills and education. I have a bachelor's in English Literature, and a Master's degree in teaching. I have a passion for critical thinking, literary analysis, argumentation, and the effect of words upon a reader. I am a graduate of Nursing and obtained my Bachelor of Nursing Degree at California State University San Bernardino. After graduation I worked in many different areas of Nursing. I have experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Infection Prevention, HIV-AIDS Care, Mental Health and Triage Nursing. I am most passionate about Mental Health and the Neurosciences. I do enjoy coming along side students in helping them prepare for examinations or to understand subject matter more thoroughly. I have tutored NCLEX preparation.

My philosophy of education is that every child should have the right to learn and get a quality education. Every child that I tutor should feel comfortable and safe. Our lessons time is in an environment full of nurturing and enriching. Individualized instruction is an integral strategy to aid children with different learning preferences. In order to meet individual challenges, lessons are structured into learning modalities by incorporating auditory, kinesthetic, and visual techniques. I apply a variety of approaches to the learning process. I use cooperative learning strategies is equally important, Use of cooperative learning strategies, as well as guided individual instruction are all necessary to provide an environment where children will use self-discovery and a hands-on approach to learning. I'm a doctorate student who loves teaching literacy. I used to be an 8th grade ELA teacher, but now, after graduating with my second masters degree, I've been a PhD student since July of 2025. As a tutor, I have an extensive background in Spanish and public speaking. I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy helping students learn how to hold conversations while building their vocabulary and confidence in a new language. With public speaking, I have been presenting research, papers, and reports for over 15 years and know how to help students overcome their nerves while speaking in a relaxed manner to their peers. Additionally, my teaching style is student centered as I concentrate on the student's needs and use their strengths to help them achieve their goals. As a bilingual school psychologist, I have 11 years of experience identifying students' weaknesses in the areas of reading, writing, and math due to learning disabilities and turn them into strengths to make the learning experience fun and understandable. Overall, I like to create a trusting environment for my students where they can learn the material while having fun. Seeing my students find their "aha!" moment is what makes me passionate about what I do!

After earning my Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-medicine at California State University, San Bernardino, I completed a post-baccalaureate in the medical sciences at Ohio State University. Last year, I earned my Master of Public Health at Benedictine University with concentrations in Epidemiology and Health Education & Promotion. Overall, I have a deep love for learning and making complicated material simple. Thus, taking the minimal knowledge I have attained and sharing it with others is a passion I have developed while tutoring students and peers in Writing/Grammar, Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, and other MCAT-related topics.
