I graduated from Christian Brothers University with a double major in electrical engineering and computer science and a minor in mathematics. During my four years in undergrad, I worked as a part-time tutor in the university's math center. As the name of my work place suggests, I helped student tackle math related problems for most part. I did, however, tutor student in computer science and electrical engineering subjects as well. My favorite subject to teach is computer science/programming. There is usually more than one way to solve computer problems and the answer isn't always obvious. This gives me the opportunity to not only solve my students' problems, but also help them develop a strong understanding of the fundamentals of programming/coding. I firmly believe that developing strong basics in any subject is the key to solving any problem in that subject.

I am a graduate from the University of Tennessee Knoxville and Christian Brothers University. I received my Master's in Education and have been teaching in the classroom for the past 6 years. I have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students. I have taught Special Education, Deaf Education, Co-teach Math, Co-teach Science, Co-teach English, and Co-teach history. I have also taught ACT and SAT test prep courses focusing on Reading, English, and Writing. I currently teach high school English and I specialize in Reading Interventions. In my spare time I love cooking, reading, and traveling. I am a mom of two and I also have a golden doodle. As a family, we love spending our time outdoors, playing sports, and exploring new places.
I have always considered myself as a lifelong learner and I take pride in helping others to be excited about learning. I have a desire to help students move forward and always learn more than what they expected to learn.I am a graduate of Christian Brothers University with a Bachelors in Chemistry and I obtained a Masters from the University of Memphis in Instruction, Curriculum and Leadership. I started working on my EDD and I plan to resume no later than January 2017. I am presently teaching Chemistry in a high school setting and have done so for 21 years. I have also privately tutored for the last 10 years. I tutor ACT, Algebra, Chemistry, and Physical Science. I enjoy tutoring ACT because that has helped many of my students and my sons who achieved good scores. I enjoy tutoring and believe that I can help students find the potential gaps that may have occurred or hinder one from moving forward or in solving problems. Outside of academics, I like to read, dance, and sing. I have had the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall, travel, and record.. I enjoy singing Rand B, Pop, some Jazz and Blues. I still enjoy singing with professional bands and at church.
I received two undergraduate degrees. i received my nursing degree from University of Memphis because I am passionate about disease, treatments, and helping those that are ill. I received my degree in psychology from Christian Brothers University out of shear interest. I then received my Masters in Nursing from University of Phoenix with a high GPA and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau for years. I love to teach, especially anyone medical, biology, pathophysiology, and any courses pertaining to any healthcare degree one is seeking. We are all capable of becoming whatever we wish to become.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student learns differently. In the elementary landscape, where the foundation for lifelong learning is built, I believe it is the educator's responsibility to meet each child exactly where they arecognitively, emotionally, and socially.
My ongoing #1 goal in life is to improve and to become better than I was on yesterday. One can only do that through having integrity, dedication, perseverance and hard work! Nothing comes easy in life so one must work for it!

My journey into medicine has been a unique one, marked by a commitment to excellence despite taking a less traditional route. From early academic challenges to ultimately mastering the demanding curriculum of medical school, I have demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a deep passion for supporting others in their educational journeys. I am confident that these experiences make me an ideal candidate to guide students preparing for Step 1. Early in my academic career, I faced substantial challenges that initially made the path to medical school seem out of reach. Rather than being deterred, these obstacles drove me to improve my study habits and cultivate the discipline required to thrive in a demanding environment. Choosing a non-traditional route into medicine came with its own unique challenges, but it allowed me to prove to myself and others that I could succeed under any circumstances. Overcoming these hurdles has instilled in me a deep sense of empathy for students who may be struggling with similar doubts or obstacles, and I am motivated to help them reach their full potential. Throughout my medical studies, I dedicated myself to mastering the curriculum, ultimately achieving high scores in my exams. I became a go-to resource among my peers for academic support, often tutoring classmates for free. Helping others understand challenging material and seeing their confidence grow was incredibly rewarding and fueled my desire to pursue a formal tutoring role. I am committed to sharing the techniques and insights I've developed with students who are preparing for Step 1 and may be looking for a guide who understands the highs and lows of this journey. My success on Step 1, which I passed on my first attempt, was not a matter of luck but of careful, strategic preparation. I utilized a comprehensive range of resources, including AMBOSS, UWorld, and NBME, ensuring I left no gaps in my knowledge. I made it my goal to master these materials, reviewing each resource multiple times and internalizing the key concepts. This dedication to thorough preparation allowed me to build both a deep understanding of the content and a familiarity with the test-taking skills essential for success. My proficiency with these resources equips me well to guide students as they work through similar materials. In addition to resource mastery, I developed study strategies that prioritize understanding over rote memorization. This approach, focusing on conceptual clarity and application, has been a crucial part of my academic achievements and is a technique I'm excited to pass on to students. I believe that helping students grasp the "why" behind concepts not only prepares them for exams but also fosters confidence and reduces anxiety. This supportive, strategic approach is what I aim to bring to every tutoring session. I am confident that my background, both academically and personally, prepares me to be an effective and empathetic Step 1 tutor. I understand the demands of non-traditional paths, the pressure of exams, and the value of resilience and hard work. As someone who has navigated these challenges firsthand, I am prepared to provide the guidance, motivation, and structured support students need to succeed.

Therefore, it is my desire to give back to others in the community/ to others in the world to assist them in accomplishing their goals too.I have a Master's degree and I have the same tests you are taking. I have been in your shoes. It is my goal to alleviate the anxiety, fears, and discouragement that often times come from having to take standardized tests.I make learning fun and engaging for Elementary and Middle School students. I take a "personal approach" to your sessions. My job is to cater to your needs. I spend my first session helping you create a goal /road map for your success.
I believe that all students are capable of learning with the correct support and guidance.
I attended Tennessee State University, Florida A&M University, University of Memphis (BLS) and Christian Brothers University (MAT and MSEL). I started as a teacher in the Memphis City Schools (now Shelby county Schools) and have taught math for 12 years. What do I tutor? Math, of course! I have tutored math for my classes (6th through 12 grade), ACT tutoring for the WIN Program of the local YWCA, and have been the coach of our schools MathCounts team for three years. I like to tutor high school subjects better because that is where I was challenged in school and overcoming those challenges means the most to high school students. I also have experience with tutoring English. My philosophy of education starts with making students comfortable, then confident. Students learn best by being exposed to theory, instructional models, and hands on experiences. Students should also have high expectations of themselves, or at least decide how they want to live their lives. Outside of math, I sing with my church choir and play the piano and organ. I am a recommended black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and I hope to become a decided black belt soon. I try to sandwich in a little TV and reading when I'm not involved in those activities.
Education is key for success, and I am honored to be available on this platform to encourage and help students that need it.
