Teaching to patients or to students requires a connection to their level of understanding first, in order to assist in developing critical thinking skills.Having been a practitioner and then a PA educator allows me to recognize the level of didactic education the student has had and how to enhance it for the clinical year and beyond.Performance on PANCE/PANRE exams requires a simple approach to the architecture of the question, in order to successfully demonstrate ones core knowledge. I have written numerous summative exams, course exams, OSCE vignettes, administered Packrat and EOR exams and have successfully led our PA program team to state and local medical challenge bowls, in addition to tutoring both PA and Medical students.I will reduce your stress level when taking exams and offer strategic approaches to focus on what the question is asking, to increase your confidence in your ability to perform successfully.

I just completed my 3rd year of medical school. I love working with students and tutoring. I am interested in Internal Medicine and academic medicine.I am originally from NYC but live in CT. I am a first-generation American with parents from Ghana. I have 6 siblings!I think everyone has the capacity to master a topic. Sometimes it might take someone more time and effort than someone else but with the right tools, practice, and patience everyone has the ability to succeed.I have tutored elementary, middle, and high school students. I like to tutor in Science and Math but I have experience in tutoring in English to students who do not speak English fluently. I was an Adjunct Faculty at a college and taught a 3-credit Genetics course. My tutoring style focuses on lots of practice and understanding the student's learning style so that I can make sure they grasp the concept in a way they understand.
I am a retired mathematics teacher. I am enjoying my retirement by traveling for 2 years around the United States and the Caribbean. I believe all students are capable of learning and improving through hard work and time. As a tutor, I believe it is my job to help facilitate this growth and learning! I am looking forward to working with students on line as I continue my own personal adventures.
My name is Jennifer and I am a tutor with Varsity Tutors. I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic and career goals and help them enjoy school and learning! I went to the University of California Irvine for a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and to Elms College for my Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have been a volunteer test writer, exam proctor, and test grader for the Orange County Science Olympiad for 3 years and have had various tutoring and teaching experiences for the last 7+ years. I have taught monthly science sessions at an elementary and middle school in an underserved area in Long Beach County over a span of 3 years. I have had one-on-one tutoring experience with a middle school student for over 1 year for Math and Science primarily, but also provided support in English, History, and Introductory Spanish. Additionally, I worked with undergraduate students as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Advanced Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory at Elms College for 1 year. I also was a volunteer Microbiology Lab Teaching Assistant at Los Angeles City College for 1 semester. I come from a low-income background and I know what it was like to struggle through classes alone or with no outside help. I am here to provide that resource that I wish I had growing up and I want to empower students through knowledge and academic success. My favorite topics to tutor in are any of the sciences, as the sciences are my favorite subject and also what I have the most expertise and experience in. As a middle and high school student, I was also heavily involved with science programs such as MESA, Science Olympiad, and L.A. County and California State Science Fairs as participants. I would describe my teaching style as fun and engaging as well as informative and helpful. I use a variety of aids to help students approach areas of struggle.
Pediatric Registered Nurse by day, EMT by night! I graduated from Elms College with a Bachelors Degree in Science, concentrating in Nursing, and earned a minor in Bioethics. I'm currently working on my Masters degree in Nursing Education. I work as an Emergency Medical Technician on a rural 911 truck, and am able to tutor students in EMT school or preparing for the NREMT exam. I am certified through the College Reading and Learning Association as a Level II Tutor. I tutor all nursing classes, and most enjoy tutoring Medical Surgical and Pediatrics. Some of my strengths include time management, organization, answering NCLEX style questions, and preparing for exams. I excel at college admission essays, and I'm happy to work with students looking to perfect their applications.I focus on understanding the WHYs of the content. If you understand why, you are learning the material, not just memorizing! I frequently use teach-back method to ensure we are meeting your goal.Outside from tutoring, I consider myself a personal development enthusiast. I love reading and listening to podcasts in my spare time.
I am an honors graduate of the College of Our Lady of the Elms where I received my undergraduate degree in Biology, with a Chemistry minor. I later went on to get my Master's Degree in Education from Boston College. I taught on the high school level before being appointed as a high school administrator. Following my marriage, I became an elementary school principal, although I continued to teach Science labs to Middle School students. I make Science and other subjects come alive by showing students how it is an extension of their every day lives. I use a variety of hands on materials and tricks of the trade to help students master material. My greatest joy is seeing the light of understanding brighten a student's eyes!
