Hi, I am currently a 3rd year Ph.D. student in Mathematical Modeling in NY. I have a B.S in pure mathematics and a M.S in Applied and Computational Math. My friends say that they love my energy. I enjoy what I do or play and those things are mathematics and soccer.

With such a high demand for STEM in today's marketplace, there's a shortage of STEM education in many NYC public schools. My goal is to make a motivational impact on the minds of our youth in the same way I was motivated from high school onto college.In 2017, I graduated from the City College of New York with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and have since started pursuing my M.D. at the CUNY School of Medicine.I first began tutoring in high school through the MSPinNYC2 program, which is where I first discovered my passion to help others.Over the last few years, I've had multiple teaching and tutoring opportunities with students ranging from first grade to college, in both one-on-one and group settings. My main focus lies in biology, chemistry, and math. This fuels my belief that all students have the ability to understand and master STEM related topics!
I am a recent master student from Columbia university. I graduated with a Masters in International Affairs. I have worked at the United Nations, European Parliament, and for a State Senator. My passion is political science and history. I am eager to help students develop their writing skills while deepening their understanding of history.
Since I was young I knew that I loved work related to helping others. When I was in high school I spent my lunch periods volunteering and tutoring in a program where I taught students who were between the ages of 14 to 21 reading skills. Many of the students I worked with had physical and intellectual disabilities, which caused a growing passion in me for working with this population. In college I spent summers working as a job coach, helping adults 18 and over with disabilities find work, and then I would help train them in the positions they received. In addition to studying education in college, I studied literature, as I have always been fascinated with how and why people act the way they have throughout history. Over the last six years I have taught in a public middle school in Jackson Heights queens. I have taught 3 years of seventh grade, and 3 years of 8th grade English Language Arts. Throughout these years I have worked with English language learners, students with special needs, and honors students. For the last two years and the upcoming school year my teaching program is focused on gifted and talented students. I have become a teacher who is eager to figure out how to challenge students in a way that they find valuable.After high school, I attended the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and began studying literature and education. I finished earning my bachelor's degree in middle and high school English education closer to home at The City College of New York. I began teaching immediately, and earned my Masters in Special Education at the same time. I have taken numerous professional courses on teaching English to students of all levels, and have most recently been professionally involved in developing my ability to work with gifted and talented / honors students. At the school where I teach I helped run the debate team for 3 years, and am currently in charge of the school's newspaper and journalism club. I am planning on continuing my education and am considering starting a new focus in creative writing, an area that I personally enjoy and have made an important part of my classroom over the years.I am dedicated to teach to student's needs and help them obtain strategies that best fit the type of learner they are. My approach to teaching is to assess student strength and weakness, and to help them become aware of this so that they can capitalize on what they do well, and learn ways to effectively approach what they have trouble with. I am passionate about learning and seeing others succeed. I love all things English Language Arts, and am always willing to give my best shot at working with any student to help them improve in this area.

I am Biomedical engineering undergraduate in my senior year at City College of New York (CCNY). As a biomedical engineering student, I have expertise in science and mathematic courses. I have an extensive teaching experience of over 8 years. I have tutored physics, chemistry, biology, and maths to college students for three years. I also have experience in tutoring science and mathematics to high school students and lower grades. All my students love me because as a student, I understand the struggle of students and make them feel like I am one of their own. Through real life examples, illustrations, and humor, I make my teaching more intuitive and entertaining for my students. During my college tutoring I had experiences where students said they will take specific courses only if I tutor them those courses.Throughout my tutoring experience, physics has been my most favorite subject. Many college students fear physics which gives me a challenge to make it interesting as well as easy for them. Biology, chemistry, and math are my second favorite subjects because I use them every day in our Cardiovascular Research Lab at CCNY. Like any students, engineering students have to deal with lot of stress on daily basis. To get over these stresses, I watch TV shows, do light workouts, and try a variety of restaurants.
I am passionate about teaching math to high schoolers. My specialty is being able to connect Mathematical concepts to real world and simplifying complex problems in order for the students to feel confident with their math knowledge.

I reward my students for good work, and I encourage them when they are struggling. I make learning fun, challenging and interactive. Majority of my students start to see improvement within the first few weeks. I am patient and passionate about tutoring, and I waste no time in helping my students to become confident and bold. I graduated from CUNY City College with a major in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. I have vast research experience in the fields of Biomedical Imaging, Neuroimaging, and Biotechnology. I have worked in places such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Lincoln Labs, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, National Institute of Health (NIH) Clinical Center, Columbia University Medical Center, and Nathan Kline Institute of Psychiatric Research conducting research. Through this research, I have published 6 journals article publication and one report. I also plan to start my Ph.D. in Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin Madison later this year. I am also currently working as an Assistant Research Scientist at New York University (NYU) teaching pre-college prep courses to incoming College students (High school students). The courses I teach in this varsity tutors platform are Biomedical engineering, College Physics, College Math, Engineering, Computer Programing, Programing Languages, Math, Physics, Python, Science, and Technology and Coding. I like to teach courses by trying to find real-world applications of the theory taught in classes. I am a graduate of CUNY City College. I received my bachelors in Chemical Engineering, with minors in mathematics and chemistry. I have been a tutor/mentor for the past 10yrs. My interest in mathematics dates back to my years in middle school and high school, where I excelled in Mathematics. My mother was a high school math teacher so I was naturally inclined to the love of math. In college I decided to go into a more challenging field other than math, and so I decided to major in computer engineering. I am still in the process of achieving my bachelor's degree in engineering, and I also hope to achieve a minor degree in mathematics, which after my undergraduate level, I will go into graduate level to pursue mathematics. I like to tutor students in various aspect of mathematics because, I just like them, had someone in my early life help me understand that mathematics isn't something to be afraid of but rather an impressing way of expressing one's self and helping solve daily life problems.
Hi, I'm Tara! I am an undergraduate student at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education where I am studying to become a physician. I love math and am willing to help any student with any problem. I have tutored students (from elementary school all the way to senior year of college) for a copious amount of years. My goal is for the students to grasp a good understanding of the subjects that they seek help for, and to be successful with their future endeavors.Besides from learning, I also enjoy music, performing, and languages! I play 3 instruments (violin, guitar and the uke) and have performed in theatrical shows for 5 years.
