I graduated from The College of New Rochelle with a masters degree in education. I have always enjoyed working with youth in several different aspects. I've been a mentor, I've been a teacher and of course I've been a tutor. I believe helping people, especially youth, is extremely important. I want to help as many as I can, for as long as I can.

I am a dedicated and patient tutor with experience working with children in virtual learning environments. I have supported students in reading, English, literature, and mathematics through both structured programs and personalized one-on-one sessions. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and have provided instruction in both languages. My teaching approach is student-centered, focusing on adapting lessons to each learner's needs, building confidence, and creating a positive learning environment. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Criminology with a Minor in Psychology. I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals while developing confidence and independent learning skills.
"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."~ Albert Einstein

Where I developed policy proposals for the Governor's annual legislative agenda and budget. I also worked to translate these complex policies into simple to understand concepts for communicating with the public.I came to public service by way of Manhattan Community Board 4, where I served from 2010 to 2016. I am applying for Touro College and their Graduate Program for Education because I found my calling. I want to teach the next generations about history and discuss why history is important in every aspect of the world. I have had great professors and teachers who pushed me to my limits and because of that I wrote a sixty-page thesis for my senior history class (History 425: Research Methods). My thesis, Our Thing: Traditions of the Italian Mafia, examines primary and secondary sources about the Italian Mafia. I used both autobiographies from Mafia leaders and a detailed an organized interview I conducted with a citizen of Little Italy, Manhattan who lived there for seventy-nine years. I have done thorough research into the topic of Italian Organized Crime, studying the first arrival of Italian immigrants. My other research topics include, ancient Roman warfare and the Golden Age of Piracy. I have been reading, researching and analyzing ancient Roman warfare for more than five years and the Golden Age of Piracy is my most recent topic, researching for the past six months. With the help of Professor Kavey (His 240) and Professor De Lorenzi (His 205, His 300, and His 425), from John Jay College, I can comprehend and conduct proper research from both primary and secondary sources. Both professors taught me how to analyze data for proper research and taught me how to apply it towards writing a proper research paper. I am using the tools they taught me, along with every other professor I have had, in my further research topics.I have decided to take my ambitions further than my Undergraduate and go for my Graduate degree with the hopes of becoming a history teacher. I have been watching, learning and absorbing the lessons my professors, both good and bad, gave me as a student. I had great professors at John Jay College and I learned more than just the class lessons. I will try to replicate and, if need be, adapt those lessons to my future students. With the help from Touro and their education program, I am hoping that the lessons I learned from my professors and the classes from Touro, I can become an effective teacher. As you should be able to tell, my career goal is to become a history teacher. I want to teach children and kids of any age the significance that history is trying to tell us. I want to show that by studying history, we can learn about how traditions, cultures and other behaviors have been created, changed and adapted trying to understand how they are now. My main objectives are simple; I want to become an effective teacher. I want to become a teacher that my students respect and truthfully enjoy to be in my class. In my opinion, being a teacher should be just that. Teachers should be like doctors with medicine and medical treatments where the patients are the top priority, but for teachers the students are the top priority. Education is an incredible and large factor for a child to become successful in the world, not by their salary but education increases their intelligence in all aspects of life, not only in school.
Education is part of who I am. I have been a student for my entire life and I understand the physical and mental journey that being a student takes you on. Although sometimes difficult, I've always enjoyed every aspect of it. I welcome new challenges and topics constantly and I am proud to say I have proficiency in many. I have a Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science concentrating in toxicology which was awarded to me through John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. Aside from my science background which includes organic chemistry, biology, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, instrumental analysis, analytical chemistry, physics, and analytical toxicology, I am verse in the arts and have extensive experience with creative writing, theatre, and music performance (specifically vocal, violin, cello, and guitar). I am also bilingual and tutor Spanish for those that wish to learn how to speak, read, and write everyday common Spanish.

My interest in tutoring dated back to my days in college where I had the distinct pleasure of tutoring students in English and Social Studies related classes. My background in teaching english includes being a certified TESOL instructor and having taught in South Korea. Social Studies or history related subjects I have always viewed as someone telling a past story to another. It is with kindness, a patient understanding of the students needs as well as making the subject fun which forms my approach to tutoring. I look forward to interacting with many of you and more importantly looking forward to help everyone succeed.

I currently work at Harvard Medical School where I research psychiatric disorders, but have spent the majority of my career teaching psychology, research methods, statistics and math at all levels. My last teaching experience was at the college level, where I spent a semester teaching a bilingual Kindergarten class the English and Spanish alphabets.I use many types of tools to teach, and am able to adapt my teaching style based on the student's learning preferences. I believe in the importance of integrating technology into teaching and learning, and am familiar with many different online learning platforms. I am a kind and generous tutor, but hold my students to standards that meet their learning potential. I have a passion for teaching, but also enjoy cooking, reading, going to music concerts and playing soccer.
I am a dedicated educator with over ten years of experience teaching in elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and colleges. My greatest strengths are my enthusiasm and dedication to seeing others accomplish their goals and learn new skills for continued success.
As a student myself I understand the need there is for the support and understanding and patience it takes to progress in life's changing educational environment.
Knowledge is the gift that keeps on giving. That is why I choose to tutor. As a lifelong learner and writer, I can attest to the importance of preparing learners of all ages for the rigors of our fast-paced, communication-based society. The internet has largely replaced libraries with lightning-speed delivery of information. I ride this speed wave with my passion for knowledge and self-mastery, a passion that I strive to instill in my students, whether they are taking a standardized test, writing an academic essay, trying to improve their grades, or simply attempting to increase their skill level in a particular subject. Improving one's mental skills is never a wasted endeavor; such skills continue to advance one's life long after tutoring has ceased by fostering new ideas and perspectives, improving interactions with others, stimulating conversations, and promoting on-the-job and daily life problem solving. I became a professional Tutor after several years as an Academic Writing Editor for undergraduate and graduate students. Since I began tutoring with Varsity in December of 2016, I have expanded my expertise to include all pre-school, elementary and junior-high level subjects. My focus remains on writing, reading and literary subjects when teaching high school, higher education, adult learners, and ESL students. The success I have gained as a high-demand, Private Tutor, is evidence of my quality teaching skills and versatility. There is no end to what a curious and dedicated mind can accomplish.
I am a graduate of Hunter College with a Masters of Science in Education, with a focus on Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Students with Disabilities. I am certified as a New York State teacher, working with the New York City Department of Education. My philosophy on teaching is quite simple: each student learns in their own way and it is the responsibility of a teacher/tutor to determine how a student learns, determine their needs and create lessons that the student will feel successful in completing while fostering their unique learning styles. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, learning new things, taking my dog for long walks and curling up on the porch with a good book or the latest "it" book.

I became a NYC teacher to inspire and motivate students to strive for success, even in the face of adversity. I believe that the gates of large goals are lined with small accomplishments (Heath and Heath, 2010), and I require students to take ownership of their daily learning through consistent collaboration and continuous assessment. I create lessons that are reachable, specific and incorporate cross-curricular extended opportunities and technology-based instruction, to increase student engagement. There is definitely autonomy through accountability and students should be responsible for taking assessments and using their performance data to identify their specific learning needs. I use data to target and differentiate classroom instruction and meet student learning needs. I consider myself a lead learner among my colleagues. Academic optimism and growth mindset through reflection among peers is important. I collaborate with my colleagues to support their continual growth and improvement as educators.
I love working with kids and get a feeling of satisfaction when I see kids succeed. To have a child feel that they have achieved something and are capable of learning what they thought was the impossible is a great thing.

I believe in delivering clarity in subjects based upon individualism. Every child is different and can be taught differently. I create flexible lesson plans for each child based on their needs and ease.Outside of academics I enjoy a variety of sports. These include basketball, volleyball, and handball. My favorite winter activity is iceskating!
Hello, my name is Kyle. I am a recent graduate from John Jay College with a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and English, and a minor in Mathematics. College has provided me with the groundwork necessary to expand my ability in critical thinking, and, arguably most important, with the chance to meet professors who were able to extend their passion (in their respective fields of study) to me. Not every class is easy. Some require discipline, and others patience, but all require the skill of a good professor to reach their students. It is after their model that I tutor students -- reach out to their needs and provide them the necessary groundwork to learn, all while showing them how much fun it is!I have tutored High School Mathematics (specifically Algebra 1 and Geometry) for over two years, and Philosophy (primarily in critical thinking and logic) for one and a half years. Mathematics has a very strong connection to Philosophy, thus I have learned to one to support the other, which better assists in understanding the material. I have held individual tutoring sessions as well as group sessions, both allowing me to interact with different students with different needs -- thus I've had much practice in changing my approach to meeting a student's needs.Grammar requires a strong foundation in certain rules. Being an English Major, I have had the luxury of taking a grammar based course, as well as multiple lessons in the rest of my classes. I use what I have learned to proofread students' papers, and do my best to explain techniques that may help for future assignments.Learning is a team effort. I always look for the best interests of my students, thus if there are any suggestions that parents or students have, please feel free to share them. I will respond as quickly as possible to any interested and am ready to help! Feel free to send any questions or schedule an appointment! And always remember: Every person has an ability to learn something.
As someone who is passionate about continuous learning, with a Bachelor's degree focused in Cybersecurity Risk Management, a Master's degree in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics, and numerous real-word experiences in different cyber spaces, I am dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment for students. With experience in classroom settings, I specialize in multiple areas of Cyber Security, Information Technology, and aim to demystify these complex subjects. My teaching approach centers on creating engaging, interactive lessons that connect theoretical concepts to real-world applications, ensuring that students not only understand the material but also feel empowered to explore their interests! I am motivated by the opportunity to inspire the next generation of tech leaders and am excited to help students achieve their academic goals. When I am not tutoring, I can be found staying up to date with the latest cybersecurity trends and certifications, staying active, and spending time with family and friends!
Currently, I am a Senior Program Director for Education and Youth Development at a non-profit agency. I have a BA in English Literature and MA in Urban Studies. What do I love to do? I love trying new foods, learning different cultures and adding to my bucket list. Most of all, I enjoy passing on the things that I have learned to help build others. My hobbies include watching foreign films, documentaries, traveling and reading.
My teaching mentality and methods draw from my lifelong journeys as a martial artist and Jewish neurodivergent student (ADHD, anxiety, depression). With empathy, I emphasize personalizing processes and strategies, effort and progress over perfection, understanding over memorization, validation, and fun. Dubbed the Queen of Google Docs, I often tutor using color-codes, odd but apt analogies, examples with Batman, corny jokes, and vitally, plans based on YOUR needs and strengths, aiming to aid on not only your current assignment but also relevant skills for future ones. My students often say that I reduce their assignment anxiety, make assignments clearer and more approachable, and help them see their writing in whole new ways. I love when I clarify concepts and students say, "wait, it's that simple?" I've taught writing as a TA (5 years), an adjunct professor (2 years), and a writing center tutor (10+ years). I am now a PhD student.
I love traveling, dancing, and reading. But, what I am most passionate about, is learning.
