I am a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) that has obtained my bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics and completed my dietetic internship at the Ohio State. I am currently working in behavioral health as a clinical dietitian and I am passionate about helping other aspiring dietetic students.

I attained a BS in Biology at Arizona State University. My Professional Educators License certifies me to instruct grades 6-12, with additional endorsements in biological, general, and physical science.Post graduation I joined Teach for America and taught 8th grade science, high school biology, and earth space science in Chicago for two years. For each of these courses I personally designed all curriculum, lesson plans, labs and assessments. Additionally I have instructed a summer school session for Advanced Algebra.I tutor K-8 all subjects, K-12 English/reading/writing, my favorites being general science, ACT Science, and Biology (honors and AP included). I love that science explains how the world around us worksfrom why the sky is blue, to why we resemble our parents.I enjoy working with all types of studentswhether they do not particularly enjoy the subject, or are driven from the get go. My teaching style is creative, engaging, and goal oriented. I like to get to know my students and their ambitions, and work with them where they are at to achieve mastery.Other than science, I am an avid CrossFit athlete, and competed on a regional team. I am also a Level 2 Certified CrossFit Coach and have coached Track and FitClub. I also enjoy skiing, hiking, kayaking and rafting. On the artsy side of things I have been doing chalk pastels, painting, and crafting since I was a child.
My experience tutoring students while in high school and in college is what sparked my interest in becoming a teacher and in pursuing a Masters degree in teaching. I taught high school science for a number of years, and also helped my students with their ACT prep. Now that I am out of the classroom, tutoring students is what I miss most.I am extremely passionate about education and love working with students over topics they are having difficulty with. I truly believe that each person is different, and thereby learns differently. Therefore, I am committed to being a critical thinker and to finding different ways to teach concepts and skills to students. I am available on weekdays during the evenings and weekends during the day to tutor.
I am very invested in helping students of all ages achieve good grades and experience habit-forming academic success. I especially relate to middle and high school students (regarding both grades and exam prep) as well as adults seeking to improve their writing and overall use of English.
Getting students from where they are to where they want to be is what drives my philosophy as a tutor. I enjoy subject matter, but what I'm really passionate about is helping students grow, in whatever subject or way they need and want. Meeting students where they are and understanding what their goals are in their chosen subject are super important to me, as is keeping things light, fun and productive!
In 2011, I graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. Toward the end of my college years, through a series of self-realizations, I came to realize that I would be most happy pursuing a career in Medicine and I began a post-baccalaureate premedical program at Dominican University where I was granted a Bachelor of Medical Science. I am looking forward to applying to medical school and to becoming a Physician! With a background in English Literature and Writing, along with more recent (and successful) coursework in premedical studies including college-level Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Organic Chemistry, I am well-equipped to tutor students in a multitude of subject areas. This past year, I tutored college students in General Chemistry. This year, I will be continuing to do some tutoring at a university in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Additionally, I worked as an Americorps member at an organization called Schools of Hope, where I prepared children for kindergarten by fine-tuning their Math and literacy skills. In order to participate in this program, I underwent an intense training curriculum which taught me many fundamentals of teaching. I also have experience working with and teaching children and adolescents with special needs, as well as students where English is their second language. Most importantly, I have a strong passion for learning. As an aspiring physician, I recognize the value of constant learning and relearning, as well as teaching those concepts which have been mastered. I am incredibly patient and compassionate, and I fully relate to the challenges that can accompany learning experiences. It is my hope that I can work with students as much as possible, go through problems that they may find challenging and find several different ways to convey the material. I believe that with hard work, dedication, and patience, anyone can overcome various challenges of academia.I look forward to getting to know you!
Hi! My name is Charlie Stanton. For the last two years, I taught kindergarten and first grade on the South Side of Chicago. I served as a Teach for America Corps Member. I earned a master's of teaching at Dominican University in Illinois and graduated with a B.A in Geography and Urban Studies from Macalester College. I currently am taking a break as a classroom teacher and am working on a political campaign in Minneapolis. In my free time, I love watching and playing sports, playing the saxophone, reading, and writing.
I'm happy to help with any math, reading, or writing concerns you may have. I've worked with many different students with many different backgrounds and ability levels, and even if your situation is unusual there's a good chance I've dealt with something like it before.
I have been teaching Middle School ELA for the past 4 years both in Chicago and in New Jersey. I love working with students and helping them become the learners I know all students can be. I believe that being successful in school can help students feel accomplish while also opening different paths for their future. I want to tutor students because I believe it will give me an opportunity to continue working with students, but in a smaller setting where I can provide more individualized attention.
Learning is fun! If you are not learning you are not living!I love to see students progress and master their subjects. Knowledge is power!
Gabriel Paez began teaching in Chicago Public Schools in 2013 as a 1st and 2nd grade bilingual Spanish classroom teacher. During his 3rd year teaching, he transitioned into Bilingual Education Coordinator, responsible for providing ESL and Spanish language arts to Kindergarten through 8th grade. Having finished 6 years at the same school, and earning his Master's degree in Teaching with a Bilingual Spanish & ESL endorsement, Gabriel is now seeking ESL, Spanish, reading, and writing students for the summer. Much of what motivates him as a teacher is his view that bilingualism and multiculturalism are assets, not shortcomings, and that all children have a right to learn the language of their families and communities. His experience teaching multiple grade levels allows him to scaffold instruction exactly to the student's reading and comprehension needs. His communicative approach encourages students to approach reading as a conversation about a topic of interest. He believes students show their best work when they are interested in the material, and that children can sense authenticity and cultural relevance. Through a friendly yet firm teaching style, students will not be expected to complete busy work or packets, but will be engaging in higher level questioning and conversation about texts based in real world topics. Gabriel also excels as a writing tutor for students at all levels.

I lived in many major cities like Washington DC, New York City, San Francisco, and Phoenix Arizona where I developed my people skills. I want to share my methods for success with students looking to achieve their personal learning goals.
