I'm excited about tutoring because I have a love of learning. This opportunity to help others learn new ideas and new perspectives truly brings me joy. My MBA is in Management and Leadership. In addition to management courses, the curriculum covered business writing, ethics, and public speaking. I primarily tutor reading, writing and math at the Pre-K, elementary and middle school level. My career has always been in business management - from fashion to real estate. For over 10 years, I have volunteered with Island Harvest - one of the best non-profits that help us here - at home - on Long Island.

I am a graduate of Dowling College which is located in Oakdale, New York. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and my Master of Science in Secondary Education. During my time at Dowling, I volunteered as a tutor for academically challenged students. I am also a volunteer for Suffolk Literacy where I work with adults on Long Island who are looking to improve their reading or English speaking skills. In my experience as a tutor, I've always tried to make lessons engaging and fun for my students. I believe that students learn best when they experience knowledge for themselves, while receiving guidance and encouragement from their teacher. I have been teaching History for last 5 years in Brooklyn, NY. During that time, I have taught all grade areas from 9th grade Global to 12th grade Government and Economics. I was a History Undergrad at Lock Haven University of PA. While there, I studied History from around the world, with a concentration in both American and European Studies. As a high school student, I took AP Euro and AP US exams. I know what it takes to achieve high marks in History, both as a student and as a teacher. I can work with students of all levels on both content knowledge and skills that are needed to pass AP or Regents exams.

I am certified to teach General Education and Special Education students Birth through 6th grade in 2006. I then went to Dowling College in New York and received my Master's Degree in Literacy Birth through 6th grade in 2009. I have taught in Queens, New York and now live in North Carolina, where I teach. I love to teach Foresnsics. With all the new forensic shows that popped up in the early 2000s I began investigating independantly about different techniques used in forenssics. I even took an adult class in Forensics Anthropology just for fun. I have tutored and taught a plethora of science subjects, even ones that I have never taken like Astronomy and Horticulture. I love science. It sounds like a clich, but it's true. I am not a fan of history or sociology.My teaching philosophy is one that is straightforward to-the-point pedagogy. I am not a story teller and I'm not going to jump across desks to keep a student's attention. Education is very important to me and I feel it's important for students to learn all they can or they will be left ignorant in the world. I am a facilitator of that education. Students have various ways of learning and my job is to assist in any way possible to be sure a student is getting the material in their style. Although many educational platforms do not work this way, but students should have at their disposal any and all resources that fit their style of learning. Assessments should be performance-based, not based on grades.My interests are being out of doors. I love Nature and Science together. I am very interested about what is growing on in my back yard. I am a humanitarian, so I like to help people. I am also an extrovert, therefore, I like to be with people of like mind.
