Corporate CPA by day tutor by night. Let my experiences and knowledge guide you. My parents were immigrants so I could not ask them for help with school work. But I was able to study hard and was able to graduate as high school valedictorian and with summa cum laude in college. Even though I work in corporate I believe in giving back and educating the future.

In 2005, as an early admit student from high school, I took my very first college math class, Finite Mathematics. I was hooked, instantly. I completely reevaluated my life plans to focus on becoming a mathematician and teacher. I graduated from Elmira College in Upstate New York with a dual major in Mathematics and Philosophy, and moved directly to Arizona where I began teaching at a private boarding school outside of Mayer. With six years of private tutoring experience at both the college and high school level, and three years experiences as a high school mathematics teacher, I bring a wealth of personal and professional experience with me. As much as I love mathematics (I can quite literally say I have made it the focus of my entire life!) I am also an amateur wood carver, primarily working with walking and hiking sticks, and I am an intermediate swing dancer, having competed and taught classes across Arizona.
As a dedicated tutor with over four years of experience, I have worked with students across a range of subjects, from AP Biology and AP Chemistry to elementary math and reading as an assistant teacher. I am passionate about fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages both growth and confidence. Currently pursuing a pre-med track in college, I integrate my academic knowledge with hands-on teaching methods to create engaging and relatable lessons. My approach centers on understanding each student's unique learning style, allowing me to tailor instruction for maximum impact. I find great joy in helping students build confidence in their abilities and am committed to guiding them toward academic success.
I am a mom of 4 kids. I have 3 grown children and one child age 7. I have been a teacher for over 16 years. We also have 3 dogs. They are a lot like kids. I currently work at a local school district as a Reading Specialist. I worked mainly with students in grades 3-6 and I love it! My students are some of the best. We have fun as we learn about each other and the work we need to accomplish in order for us to become our personal best.
For many students, especially those with learning disabilities, ADHD, or differences in how they process information, this path can feel intimidating or out of reach. My mission as a tutor and mentor is to make the journey into medicine structured, attainable, and empowering by providing individualized academic support from high school through the premedical years, with a specific focus on MCAT preparation and long term success. I specialize in MCAT focused tutoring and premedical academic mentorship, working with motivated students who aspire to enter medicine and other health professions. In addition to content mastery, I emphasize executive function coaching. Many capable students struggle not because they lack intelligence, but because they lack structure. I work with students to create realistic study schedules, break large goals into achievable steps, track progress, and build consistent routines. Students learn how to plan weeks and months ahead, balance school responsibilities
As an experienced training professional with a MBA with concentration in HR Management, I aim to use my gifts to educate and inspire others to be their best selves. I have certifications in change management and am a lean six sigma black belt, as well as having the SHRM-CP certification.
I currently hold a BS of Psychology from Elmira College and am halfway through my Masters program in Secondary Education at University of Phoenix. I currently work as a paraprofessional at a school for behavioral, social, and emotionally troubled high school students. It is a lot of work, but rewarding nonetheless. I teach one of the students Geometry, since he works ahead of his class and has no one else to teach him, and he currently maintains an A in the class. I have tutored some of my friends in College Algebra and Statistics.Math has always been one of my passions in school and one I will enjoy teaching and tutoring. Ever since I was a sophomore in high school, I knew that I wanted to become a high school math teacher, thanks to the amazing teacher who taught me Geometry. I believe that every student can learn if they put the effort into it, and I look forward to helping them achieve this learning. There are always tricks in math that can help you remember certain things and sometimes teachers do not even think about this themselves. Math is a subject that builds on itself, so it is important to teach students how they are building on prior knowledge. "Yes, this is a new formula we will be using, but you already know how to get to this point because of what was done in the last chapter." It makes it easier to know that you already know how to do most of the work and that it is just one more little thing you have to do to come to the desired answer.Outside of education, my hobbies include baseball, and my favorite team is the Yankees. I enjoy watching television, movies, playing video games as well as board games. I enjoy all sorts from Pictionary and Monopoly to Settlers of Catan and Betrayal at House on the Hill. I also enjoy reading, hiking, grilling, cooking, and running (I used to run track).
I love to learn and I love to teach. I come from a family of educators and I am very passionate about the benefits of education for becoming your personal best and for changing the world. I graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. During college I was a peer tutor and a reading tutor at an elementary school. After graduation I moved to Japan and gained extensive experience in teaching English as a second language. I worked with students of all ages (2-88!), in one on one lessons, small classes as well as large corporate workshops. Some of my more unique experiences included training a student for a speech contest, learning lines with a Japanese actor for a role in an American film, and developing original curriculum for classes. After 15 years in Japan I returned to the states and earned my MS in Global and International Education through Drexel University. Most recently I have worked as a para professional with Title One, Special Education and ESOL students. I am comfortable with a number of different subjects but I truly enjoy English, literature and language. My tutoring style is to be patient, flexible and focus on the needs and motivations of my students. I do my best to be prepared for each lesson and I expect my students to take responsibility for their work, too. In my personal time I enjoy trying new recipes, reading, swimming, and traveling.
I graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Political Science. I earned my 160 hour Advanced Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in addition to my 120 hour TEFL Certificate. I worked in the Banking Industry for about 15 years. I raised three wonderful sons and enjoyed participating actively in the PTA as PTA Chairperson. For over two years I have worked with two companies in China teaching English online to students between the ages of 5 and 15. I taught Level 1 through 8 courses. In addition, I qualified to teach 25 supplementary courses including writing, speaking, public speaking, phonics, grammar, vocabulary, and free talk. I love teaching and my students. There is nothing better than the moment when a student achieves success. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and I love seeing Broadway shows. I also enjoy listening to music and knitting.
I have been teaching students with mental illness and trauma for 10 plus years. I use all different platforms and learning styles to try and meet individual needs to the best of my ability. My teaching has included writing IEPs, 504s, finding ways to help students with ADHD, anxiety, and depression. I am willing to work at their pace while encouraging them to meet the requirements of their home schools.
