I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology & Experimental Neuroscience from Elon University, located in North Carolina. Shortly thereafter I began to work towards my PhD in the field of experimental neuroscience research. My strongest subjects include statistics, math, and the sciences. My favorite subject to tutor would have to be statistics, mostly because I have taken so many classes in this subject that it is like second nature at this point. Outside of my education, I am an avid golfer. As a scratch handicap, I went to college on scholarship to play for a Division I NCAA team.

I believe that when it comes to learning, why is just as important as what and how.My goal as a tutor is not only to help you learn how something works, or what the facts are, but why it is important to know this information. Once a principle is understood, it can be repeated! This includes lessons like standardized testing, and how to use the information on the page to your utmost advantage!I love history, English, theater and public speaking. I specialize in class speeches of all types. I've worked with students of all age groups, from elementary to college level material. Get in touch, and let's see what I can do for you!
I'm a graduate of Elon University in North Carolina. I studied international relations with an emphasis in Latin American studies. While in college, I was lucky enough to travel to 7 countries, and I have a huge appreciation for culture, travel and taking photographs along the way. After graduation, I taught ESL to high school students, helped start an education non-profit, and coordinated tutoring efforts for Title I low income schools for the Tucson region. When I returned to Texas, I worked with a local community college in the college access field to prepare students for college. I was a substitute for a bit, but now I am currently a certified 6th grade bilingual teacher in North Texas. I have taught in public schools for going on three years, teaching English/Spanish language arts, and now I'll be moving onto teaching math. I have been a tutor since I was a teen volunteer and have tutored Math, Spanish, and test prep.My teaching style is very easy-going! I want to make a personal connection with my students to understand what they like and how they think. I try to tie these all together with content to teach concepts and connect them to the real world, which is the point of education. In my opinion, education is needed to understand and make sense of our surroundings. I think my job as a teacher is to make education fun and relevant-not just something you have to memorize for a test and never remember again. Education is meant to impact lives and change them for the better! My family is from Puerto Rico, and I have been speaking Spanish my entire life. I have a dog and his name is Mo and he is the love of my life :-). I love to travel, be with my close friends and family and DANCE. I love working with students and have taught and tutored from 4th grade through college. I look forward to working with you and helping you be successful in school.
I attend Elon University in North Carolina, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics. I primarily tutor physics and math subjects. I especially love tutoring physics because it is an opportunity to make sense of the physical world surrounding us through mathematical relationships. Many students have difficulty with physics at first because it introduces new methods of thinking, so I love trying to help students reach that "click" moment where everything comes together. The actual calculations of physics problems may be daunting, but I aim to strengthen fundamental concepts during my tutoring sessions so that students feel confident to tackle difficult problems on AP and other standardized tests. Outside of my academic pursuits, I love music production, sound design, and song writing.
As a teacher, I love sharing my passion for language with students of all ages and from all over the world. Language is an incredible tool we all use every day to communicate. Learning how to do so in new languages inspires us to see the world in different ways. I've been a Spanish Teacher for 4 years in the classroom, traveled and studied throughout Central and South America, and really value the cultural exchange possible when you learn a new language. As a teacher, I developed my own curriculum which prioritizes learning that the student values and wants to do, and have had lots of success with it. I use strategies such as Organic World Language and Comprehensible Input that are driven by my students' interests.
I began my experience as an educator as a General Chemistry Teaching Assistant at Elon University. I then served two semesters as an Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant. My responsibilities in these positions included aiding in the development of students' conceptual and laboratory skills necessary to succeed in the courses. In evaluation of these experiences, it is evident to me that I have undergone personal growth as an aspiring educator and researcher. Providing assistance to other students has given me insight to the inherent diversity through which a student's learning and comprehension may be facilitated. My ability to articulate concepts, techniques, and protocols of varying degrees of complexity has matured tremendously over the course these experiences. I have seen the tremendous diversity of means through which students achieve comprehension and held myself to a high level of dynamism as an educator in order to match my approach with the unique nature of each individual's learning process. One of the keys to my success as a chemistry student is my university's emphasis on conceptual understanding as opposed to rote memorization. The development of a sense of intuition based on fundamental principles lends itself greatly to approaching novel problems and serves as a basis from which complex topics are most effectively built. Emphasis of this approach is invaluable to many subjects in math and science such as Organic Chemistry, where the large volume of content renders rote memorization impractical and ineffective.
Hello! My name is Miss Maddie, and I cannot wait to work with you! I just recently graduated High School, and about to begin my first semester at Elon University as an Engineering Major. I graduated with Distinguished Honors and experience in a variety of leadership roles through several councils and clubs at my High School. I have experience tutoring a variety of math levels for the past two years. I believe that learning is something that should be made enjoyable and productive, and cannot wait to help you reach your educational goals.
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communication Design (graphic design) from Elon University in 2016. Throughout my senior year, I worked at the headquarters of Kindermusik International on website, marketing, and teaching tools. The following year, I decided to stay at Elon University and obtain a Master's of Science in Management with a focus in Operational Analytics. This degree was largely focused on statistics but also included background in accounting, economics, finance, and business management. Since graduating in 2017, I have traveled both domestically and abroad. During the summer of 2018, I received my TEFL certificate and moved to Vietnam to teach English for three months. In my free time I enjoy playing basketball, guitar, and piano, as well as cooking and exercising. Though I have experience in many fields, I mostly enjoy tutoring algebra, statistics, English as a foreign/second language, and guitar. I believe that it is essential for students to learn in a stress-free atmosphere and that true academic growth must come naturally. I try my very best to be myself in the classroom and expect the same from my students. I try to gain an understanding of their interests in order to keep tutoring sessions interesting.
I believe in the power of mindset and high expectations. The two combined can result in transformation that is exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ever imagine. My purpose as a teacher is to facilitate learning that expands a student's world by exposing him/her to content that opens up opportunities of learning. As a teacher, I prioritize my instruction to be centered around the student and the student's needs. My style is fun, engaging, and rigorous, and my drive as an instructor is rooted in the success and achievements of my students. My philosophy of teaching is simple: what are your needs and how can I help you achieve them.
I value the learning process, and aim to pass on the fundamentals of language and other subject areas I have obtained.
I am currently pre-med working towards a degree in Biology with a minor in Asian Studies at Elon University. I tutor Spanish, English, and various other subjects. I am fluent in Spanish and love to share my language with others. My teaching philosophy is repetition and encouragement. The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you - BB King
