I am calm, always positive, and encouraging. My sense of humor meshes well with Elementary and Middle School students. I enjoy explaining the "whys", not just the "hows" of math. I support my students as they learn not only math, but also how they learn best and how to work with their strengths and weaknesses. I am an experienced middle school math teacher, teaching many students who experience math anxiety. I especially enjoy interacting with Middle School students and their extreme reactions to the world around them. I have a BS in Elementary Education with a concentration in Middle School Mathematics.

I am a graduate of Evangel University in Springfield, MO. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. I have worked as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom in both an elementary setting and an early childhood setting, been a 3rd grade student teacher, an elementary Special Education teacher, and am currently a 1st grade teacher for summer school. I love to connect children's interests with learning material and making it applicable to their lives. My favorite way to do this is through reading and phonics. I love to teach phonics and make it fun for kids. I have songs, rhymes, and other fun strategies to help kids learn how to read and read for the love of it! I think it is very important to love to read and to explore the world around you through books! In my spare time, I like to read, go on walks, and spend time with my friends and family.

I am a grandma of 5, mom of 4, a dog mom and wife. I enjoy traveling, taking pictures, reading and making special memories with family and friends. Throughout life I have enjoyed reading and researching to find answers of things I may not know. Since March 2024 I began a journey to help young learners improve their writing, reading and comprehension skills with Varsity Tutors. Prior to this for three years, I had the pleasure to teach English as a second language online. During that time, I met some wonderful students and watched them develop their English speaking and reading skills. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, a certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and other supplement certificates in continuing education for online teaching. Tutoring reading, spelling, phonics, language arts and speech are my favorite. I have also helped students with comprehension skills, social studies and history. When working with a student, it is my goal to help them learn methods to retain the information they have learned and apply their newly gained knowledge when testing and taking assessments.

I am in my junior year at Evangel University working towards my bachelor's in social work. I work part-time at a grief center and volunteer for their children's grief groups. I have primarily worked with children/ youth as a camp counselor or a job coach. I will be tutoring elementary subjects, reading, and social studies content. I enjoy working with students and watching them grow to their full potential!

I believe that every child is unique. Because of this, they all learn differently and need teaching directly geared towards how they learn. I love seeing the "light" come on when a child learns something new and gets excited about what they are learning. I taught students in a classroom for six years, helping them learn English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. For a few of those years, I also taught Drama, Spanish, and Physical Education. I have also tutored students in China via an online platform for over three years. Overall, I have worked with children for over two decades and like to make learning fun. I have a Bachelor degree in Education and can tutor any elementary subject. I especially like to teach students how to read. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and traveling around the United States.

I enjoy teaching and helping students learn. It is always rewarding to see someone who may have been frustrated or had trouble with a certain topic begin to really understand and succeed in that area. I believe that continuing education and learning can only better a person.I took AP calculus BC in high school and went on to earn my Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in mathematics and psychology at Evangel University in Springfield, MO. I then completed my Master of Science degree in statistics at The University of Akron. I grew up tutoring and helping friends and family with math. While in graduate school I tutored undergraduate students in statistics and taught statistics labs. In the fall of 2016 I taught an undergraduate statistics course at The University of Akron and had 70 students.While I have the most experience tutoring and teaching statistics, I am comfortable teaching almost any topic in math. I am also comfortable teaching any age group. I like to use various examples, hands-on activities, and as many visuals as possible, rather than just reading off formulas or having students memorize definitions. I've found that it is also helpful to give students scenarios and examples that incorporate topics or hobbies they enjoy. In my experience, and despite what some people may initially believe, it is usually very easy to help students visualize math concepts or provide memorable activities that can make the topics seem less overwhelming and/or confusing.In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I play piano, I love animals, and I enjoy most sports.

I am a graduate of Evangel University. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics as part of the Data Science Track. During my time at Evangel University, I worked as a math tutor for the school helping other undergraduate students, mainly in statistics, college algebra and the calculus sequence. I am very passionate about mathematics and the importance of having a basic understanding of why you do what you do when it comes to this type of subject matter. I also have experience helping students when I was in high school with understanding the concepts we would cover in class. During my time in high school, I would participate in small group style study sessions where we would take turns explaining concepts and going over practice problems. I am also in the beginning stage of tackling graduate school where I am working towards my MS in Data Science. At this point the subjects I am most comfortable with tutoring are under the mathematics umbrella. I think that being able to understand the ideas behind mathematics and developing one's problem-solving skills is a great way to prepare for one's future and plays a greater role in our daily lives that people would think. I enjoy helping people understand these ideas that I am passionate about in my own life and love to see that light bulb go off when they figure things out.
