I received my doctorate from Vanderbilt University in Physics and Materials Science with a concentration in carbonaceous nano-materials. My passion for education stems from the fact that in high school I received a C in physics in my first term. I was determined to get a A to keep my streak of A's in science going. At the end I received a B-. I went on to study physics because it challenge me to think out of the box and find alternative solutions to problems. Physics describes the world we live in holistically.My teaching philosophy is about dedicated practice. I have a laid back approach to showing you how to attack the problems from a numerical and literary perspective.

I am a pre-law student at Fisk University studying Political science. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I specialize in English and Social Studies. I grew up speaking Spanish, then I studied it from 6th grade until the end of my college years. I majored in Spanish and Education for my B.A. from Fisk University and furthered my studies to include Humanities for my M.A. from Old Dominion University. I love teaching Spanish, which is what I currently do in four schools and tutor in my off time. I love to read books, crochet, and play with my toy poodles. Education is very important to me and I love to help people understand how to speak, read, and write Spanish.

My mother and aunt were outstanding educators and I wanted to be like them. I attained my Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the HBCU Fisk University and my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Kent State University. I am most passionate about the subject of reading. Everything flows from reading; we can read for fun, to conduct a science experiment, and to solve a math problem. Teaching is enjoyable when you know the student understands a skill on which you have been working. Children are fascinating; their curiosity and natural sense of wonder is a joy to experience. It is very rewarding to start where a child is in their learning journey and watch them grow as they gain understanding. Working with children makes us all lifelong learners.
