My passion is to utilize my education and experiences to help others.

Growing up in Miami, Florida it was hard to find someone to help me with school, as many people that live there are non-native English speakers. I saw this gap in education in many first-generation American students like myself. Therefore, I took it upon myself to create a mentoring program where I had my first tutoring experience. I had students from elementary to high school and was able to tutor them on various topics, especially science, which is my passion! I was able to discover my own learning style and it allowed me to thrive in medical school. My goal is to help my students learn their own learning style and become independent learners. As a new doctor, teaching is fundamental in our growth as practitioners, as we are always teaching patients about their diseases and management.I am passionate about helping students because I know how it feels when someone tries to teach me something but doesn't take the time to explain it. Memorizing things is easy, however, once you truly understand something, you know it forever.I took this passion with me all the way to medical school and was hand selected by the pathology professor to become the teaching assistant at my medical school. As a teaching assistant, I was able to hold both full-class and one-on-one tutoring sessions. Pathology is notoriously the most difficult class in medical school, so I was honored to be selected as the tutor as the professor selects the two highest performing students in her class. I am looking forward to starting medical residency next year, because as a physician, I will always be a lifelong learner and teacher.Science is my favorite subject to learn and tutor because there is a lot of reasoning involved. People often think that science is solely memorization however this is a misconception. Science is highly organized, and works in systems. Once one understands a specific system or concept that is being studied, it makes the rest of the work so much more fun.Outside of medical school, I love to cook, go for a long bike ride, head to the beach or catch the latest musical (pre-covid of course). I work hard in my studies but always make some time for friends, family and myself. I'm looking forward to getting to know you as a student and your learning style to meet your academic goals!

I am a licensed high school math teacher with three years of teaching experience. Since I was in high school, I have been helping students perform to their fullest potential. In high school, I would help students after school with geometry and algebra and it changed my life for the better. Not only did I feel joy from helping encouraging and motivating others, but I also became a more knowledgeable student. It is one thing to master a concept, it is another task entirely to transfer that knowledge to someone else. Through Varsity Tutors, I look forward to helping students achieve academic success in math and to take with them a sense of being able to overcome any challenge thrown their way.

I have been helping students discover their love of Spanish language and Latin American literature and cultures since 2006. If you've had a hard time with grammar or if you think Spanish is not for you, I can explain complicated structures in a way that will make them easy to understand. I want my students to feel confident in their written and spoken language skills! If practicing your Spanish in preparation for a special trip or class presentation is your thing, I'd be delighted to help you reach your personal goals.
Math is incredibly fun for me to teach, I've always been that friend who worked with fellow peers during High School, and even in College would help other students with the Math problems we were given immediately after class outside the room. This experience has helped me know how to connect new concepts and old concepts to help others learn best!
Education has always been an important part of my life. My father always said one thing that nobody can take away from you is your education. That is why I became an educator. I am currently a senior at Florida Atlantic University. I volunteered at various elementary schools, where I tutored students after school. I also tutored students virtually. All the experience and skills I have accumulated over the years have enabled me to become a superb tutor.
As a dedicated tutor with BS in Psychology from FL, USA & Hotel management in South Korea. I have over 10 years of tutoring experience, specializing in subjects such as Business & Conversational Skills Development in Korean focused on grammar, pronunciation (Seoul-Capital), and cultural manners, language exams preparation. My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel empowered and confident to take risks and explore new concepts in order to move forward in their careers. I am passionate about helping individuals achieve their academic goals, particularly in language acquisition and mathematics, as I believe these skills are foundational to success in various fields. Beyond tutoring, I enjoy outdoor sports and exploring different cultures, which enriches my teaching approach and allows me to connect with students on a personal level.
I am a graduate of Florida Atlantic University where I earned a degree in Secondary English Education with a certification in English (6-12) with ESOL Endorsement (FL). Since graduating, I have taught Language Arts in South Florida at the middle school level to students of varied learning needs. Upon moving to New York, I became certified in English Language Arts in order to continue my passion for education. My approach to teaching and tutoring is to guide students toward discovery and passion for learning by giving them support and encouragement that allows them to feel confident in their pursuit of knowledge. Although I enjoy tutoring all things Language Arts, I most enjoy helping students with their reading comprehension and writing skills. Once a love and understanding of reading is developed, learning seems to become second nature. Writing is also a key component to academic success, as it allows a student to confidently express his/her thoughts and ideas. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking vegetarian cuisine, taking my dog to the park, and of course, reading!

I have a passion for helping other students excel in their work. My expertise in the area of finance, accounting, and taxation. However, I enjoy tutoring subjects that are number-related (math, finance, accounting, algebra) or technology-related (Excel, Word, PPT). My PhD is in Finance, and I have Masters degrees in Taxation, Forensic Accounting, and an MBA. I have tutored for several years. I enjoy working with students and guiding them to the right strategy, method, and solution. I use a student-centered approach. I believe "success is a journey, not a destination." In other words, we are all life-long students, and we should never be content with stopping the learning process. The goal should be to continue advancing our knowledge and expertise in different areas. Not only will it make us more balanced, but it will allow us to adapt and grow as new discoveries and advances are made. My hobbies are running, hiking, swimming, and watching the San Antonio Spurs play! I am a certified and qualified teacher with 25 years of professional teaching experience, 10 years of substitute teaching experience, 10 years of experience as a Y.M.C.A senior group leader in Broward County's After School programs, and 30 years of private tutoring experience in all basic subjects from elementary to college levels. I use a variety of teaching techniques and strategies and I can take simple and seemingly difficult concepts and skills and simplify them using various pneumonic devices, graphic organizers, manipulatives, songs I write, role playing, academic games, music, and movement. As a result, I have seen significant learning gains in practically all of my students over the years.
I graduated with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Italian, and I've spent the past few years teaching both English as a Second Language and Italian. I really enjoy helping students feel more confident using a new language in real-life situations, not just in a textbook. I'm currently working toward my Master's in TESOL, which helps me keep improving how I teach and support different learning styles. My goal is to make lessons engaging, practical, and tailored to each student's needs.
I taught AP Human Geography for 4 years at the high school level, and IB Social and Cultural Anthropology SL for 12 years . Since retiring last June, I found that I missed student contact and the chance to help students achieve their goals. I had excellent test score results for both AP Human Geography and IB Social and Cultural Anthropology SL. Therefore, tutoring seems to offer an opportunity to continue doing what I love, but on a part-time basis.
I recently completed a 40 year professional career in corporate accounting and finance and taxation. I have worked as a part time instructor at several universities in South Florida for over 20 years. I teach accounting, taxation and finance courses. During my teaching career, I was named the State of Florida's best accounting and business instructor twice. At the college I'm currently teaching at, I was named faculty of the year for 2024. These teaching awards were voted on by the students. My educational background consists of a bachelor's degree in accounting from UNC-Greensboro, an MBA from Wilmington University, and a Masters degree in accounting from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. My favorite subjects to teach and tutor in are financial accounting, cost accounting, finance, and taxation. What makes my teaching style effective is that I have over 40 years of practical experience in the subjects that I am teaching. Combining this real world experience with my academic background makes me unique. I have accumulated so much knowledge over the decades that I want to share with my students to help them learn the material and be able to apply it to their professional careers. My students have said that I am the best professor they ever had. Students that struggled with accounting with other instructors have excelled in my courses. Feedback from my students says that I am able to take complex accounting principles and explain them in layman's terms which non-accounting majors can understand. I work at your pace and have a lot of patience.
I know what it's like to be in a classroom and not understand the mathematics being taught. So I know how to relate to your struggles and frustrations. Customer satisfaction is my highest priority, so I seek my clients' feedback. Sometimes I will stay longer than I'm billed for to ensure the job gets done right. I know your time is valuable, so I try to be as flexible as possible. I am willing to meet at places like Starbucks or at the convenience of your own home. I look forward to hearing from you.

Learning, studying, even IQ scores, are all skills that can be raised by doing. I can teach you how to study effectively, which is a skill they don't, but should, teach in elementary and high school. There is a system to it, and anyone can learn how to study effectively.
I have a been a working as a teacher for 4 years now in early childcare, middle, and high school. I enjoy working with children of all ages, especially in a "one-on-one" setting. My goal, with any child, is to help faciliate the interpretation of a subject so that they can recall information easily and apply it in a critical manner.
I am currently working on my Master's degree in Education. My area of specialization is Biology. I have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Florida Atlantic University. I have been teaching since 2010 on a simple philosophy: No matter how complex a topic is, it is possible to simplify it to a level where anyone can understand it fully. My passion is to break down complex topics into simpler ones. I am a strong believer of Bruner's Spiral Curriculum. This particular methodology is composed of three parts. They are: revisiting a topic/subject area frequently, increasing the complexity of the topic with each revisit, and learning to relate previous knowledge with the new one. Following this model, students can learn more effectively and retain most of the information and use that in the future. Being multilingual has helped me tremendously to assist students who native language is not English. Being able to speak three languages helps me interact with my students more effectively. Coming from a country from South-East Asia gives me the multicultural background that teaches me to be tolerant, respectful, and patient to all individuals. I believe that patience is the single most important criterion that an educator should possess.

Following graduation from the Academy, I spent two years living in a remote village in Zambia where I worked with the Peace Corps to educate villagers about the prevention of malaria, HIV, and tuberculosis, as well as other illness endemic to the region. I love to teach, and have years of experience tutoring a wide array of subjects including algebra I and II, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, statistics, PSAT, SAT math, reading, and writing, ACT math, reading, and science, religion, literature, and many more. I have worked extensively with students taking FLVS classes, guiding them through their assignments and preparing them for their tests. I have also worked with students traveling the equestrian circuit in Wellington. I know that people are capable of much more than they think they are when they have someone that believes in them and is able to act as a teacher and coach. I love to see people reach for their potential and gain confidence along the way. Outside of tutoring, I love to study for medical school, play with my dogs, run and do yoga. Get in touch if you think I might be a good fit for you!
