I am passionate about helping my students be the best they can be. Whether it's a subject in school, a college entrance exam, or a class assignment, I strive to ensure my students perform to the highest standard. I have been a tutor for over fifteen years, and bring a wide array of experience to the table. I have a BA in Political Science and a Juris Doctorate, I'm very familiar with a variety of subjects, and I recognize that everyone learns a little bit differently. I'm also a big geek, so you can expect a wide variety of metaphors and teaching strategies, from sports to comic books and video games to pop culture references and anything in between. The goal is learning; the road there takes many forms.

I am a writer lawyer and teacher with experience teaching software to adults and children. I have 2 decades of experience as a writer including journalism/ technical writing and fiction writing.I was first published 38 years ago.
As a person who got very good grades her whole life, but HATED school and had great difficulty with standardized tests, I am passionate about making life easier for others by passing on what I've learned! Paying it forward, so to speak. I have experience tutoring children and adults. I have taken and passed the bar exam. I have vast experience with writing and editing. I'm also a mom of three, so I understand what it takes to maximize your time. I can be your biggest cheerleader while being your fiercest accountability partner. If this sounds like a good match for you, I look forward to working with you!
I found tutoring while in high school, in which I assisted students in various subjects. I am now a substitute teacher, looking to become a certified teacher very soon. I also enjoy meeting new people, as well as helping others solve their problems. I am outgoing and willing to do whatever I can to help you succeed.
I am a firm believer that Attitude is indeed Everything! My teaching philosophy lies in finding the diamond in the rock in order to make learning fun. If the thought of writing Essays traumatizes students, or if they are overwhelmed by the complex rules of Writing, Grammar, or Reading comprehension, I can help them to master those skills, all while enjoying the journey! I can also walk students through the Critical Writing process by developing a thesis statement to completing the final draft. My goal is to help students discover the joy of Language Arts. I earned a B.A. in English with a Specialization in Creative Writing from Southern Methodist University and a J.D. degree from Florida Coastal School of Law. I have tutored students for over 8 years from K5 through 12 grade primarily in Language Arts, and my specialty lies in the Creative Writing process. I have been writing personally for over 20 years, and my hobbies are dancing, reading fiction novels, and watching comedy on TV. I am a mentor and a motivator, and I enjoy nothing more than helping students to conquer their fears of learning.
I specialize in tutoring language arts and law. I am passionate about the language arts, and I might have been the only 8th grade student ever to be excited about diagramming sentences! I believe in a more relaxed method of teaching because frustration can occur easily while learning. By breaking down the material into pieces, I believe the difficulties a student faces become less overwhelming and he or she can focus on one piece at a time. This allows the student to have that "aha" moment as he or she begins to understand each piece, and then, it motivates the student to continue forward. I feel this approach can be used in almost any subject with any age student.
Philosophy and Legal Studies.I discovered the academic Philosophies during my first semester as an undergrad and I immediately fell in love. I switched Majors the next semester and never looked back. After graduating with a Major in Philosophy and a Minor in Government, I worked for several years as an outdoors educational instructor. During this time I found a passion for helping others, especially young people, achieve more than they thought they could. After working outdoors for several years I began to look for something more long-term. A former peer, who was themselves attending Law School in California, suggested that I would do well in the Legal fields. On their suggestion, I took the next LSAT exam and four years later I received my J.D. having discovered yet another passion, this time for legal analysis. When it comes to tutoring, my approach is always personal. I believe that everyone is capable of understanding information if it presented to them in the correct way. What the "correct way" is, isn't always clear from student to student. The first job of any teacher or tutor is to understand the student and only then can the tutor present the information in a way that connects with the student in the unique way that the student learns.Because of this, I often will engage students in discussion that is designed not simply to assess their understanding but more so, to cement the information in a way that isn't merely academic but also practical.
