Over the past 6 years of teaching high school math, I have learned many ways to present a variety of information. I have tutored one-on-one for 3 of those 6 years, and enjoy the experience of working individually with students and seeing their progress in the classroom. Making math enjoyable by relating the subject to students' everyday lives is something that I strive to do with both the students I teach and those that I tutor.

I am a graduate of the premier university in Nigeria( University of Ibadan) where I obtained my bachelor in Physics and masters in Radiation and Health Physics. I am currently pursuing a graduate program in Applied Physical Science (Material Science) at Georgia Southern University, Georgia, USA. I have experience ranging to almost ten years in tutoring different science subjects but my passion lies in Mathematics and Physics at all levels. In my experience in tutoring, I have been able to allay the fear most students have towards the subjects by my systematic approach to teaching. I follow the three steps methodology which I have captured as " I will do it for you, I will do it with you and you will do it yourself". This has helped boost the confidence of most of my students.

My ultimate goal is to ensure that any and every student who works with me achieves the tools and skills necessary to succeed.Whether it's in the classroom or beyond everyone deserves to feel confident about their ability to learn and grow and as a tutor my aim is to make it possible to do both of those things with my help and without it.Having graduated Georgia Southern University with a BA in Writing and Linguistics I'm more than qualified to assist in the understanding of English skills both verbally and on the page.At 22 I'm old enough to impart some of my experiential knowledge on students without overwhelming them with a sense of mastery or perfection. I love goofy things and superheroes and i'm as much a kid as I am an adult. But most importantly I care. I care deeply about making sure that everyone has an opportunity to shine.

I have a thing - just ask my wife and kids - for studying history, old literature, and dead languages. My annual budget with Amazon in these topics far exceeds our clothing budget. This obsession with study started in college. I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in English Literature and Philosophy and then went on to the University of Georgia to complete a master's degree in Classical Languages. I also recently finished up a second master's degree from the University of North Carolina, where I focused my studies on second language acquisition and Renaissance literature. I have written my own book-length studies on Cicero's philosophical writings and Sir Thomas More's Utopia. The only thing that is more intellectually rewarding than studying the subjects with which I am obsessed, is sharing them with others. That's an overly elaborate way of suggesting that I love teaching. I have always seized opportunities to teach from the time I was an undergraduate tutor in the Writing Center. My first true teaching position came when I was a graduate student at the University of Georgia: there I tutored and taught philosophy, writing, Latin, and ancient Greek. I then taught Latin in high school for several years before joining the Army. After I completed my term of service, I taught writing and English literature at a local community college. Last year, I even took on the task of homeschooling my eighth-grade son. I teach a number of different subjects in the humanities, but I am most passionate about teaching Latin, ancient Greek, and biblical Hebrew. I also love teaching English Literature. My teaching experience and devotion to the subjects I teach directly benefits my students. I have dealt with hundreds of different students and as many different pedagogical difficulties, especially in Latin and ancient Greek, and so am generally capable of helping the student where she or he most needs it. The time I have spent with my subjects, moreover, means that I am able to make difficult ideas and tasks more comprehensible.

I am a current graduate student at The Citadel, and I am a graduate of Georgia Southern University. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in International Studies. I come from a family of teachers. My mom taught middle school English and grammar, and two of my aunts and my grandmother are/ were teachers. When I was in elementary school, I was diagnosed with ADHD, so at times, I struggled to learn new concepts or material. My family's passion for education and my own struggles inspired me to try and help others learn. Most of my professional experience has been in finance and politics, but in the fall of 2021, I began tutoring a high school senior in writing. I knew I wanted to continue working with students, so I looked into what options might be available. I found the Varsity Tutors platform, and it allows me to work with students, while still pursuing my other professional interests. I am available for tutoring in high school and college level English, writing, history, and politics/ government.

Although I will not say that I am working towards building a legacy, I know that it is an inevitable by-product of living life. I often think of the magnitude of responsibility on my shoulders as an educator and the thousands of learners that my actions will influence over the next 15-20 years, and I'm adamant that my influence will be a positive one. It is my hope to push each student of mine toward being their best adult self. Through their learning experiences with me, they will have a stronger sense of self and good character, curiosity about the world around them, and thirst for knowledge. As a teacher leader, I hope to inspire change in any school culture that I'm a part of by moving the vision of the school forward, building strong teachers to improve their self-efficacy and student learning outcomes, making the experience at school student-centered.My success with student progress towards mastery comes in helping students find something they like about all aspects of learning. What I've found is that once students connect to something they are strong in within a subject, they are more likely to work hard to continue feeling the elation that accompanies being successful. It's my job to help them tap into the success that is steadily brewing just beneath the surface. I do that by creating shared learning experiences that cater to my students as individuals and treat them as the unique learners that they are.

I have been teaching elementary-age children for the past 22 years. During that time, I have taught students from kindergarten through 5th grade. I began my love for working with children when I started babysitting as a teenager. As I continued my educational career at Georgia Southern University, I received a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with a Minor in Music. As a child, I always had a love for music. I sang in the church choir as well as played handbells. Starting in 4th grade, I started playing the flute and continued participating in band throughout high school and college. During the summers, I was a camp counselor in an overnight summer camp located in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. I loved it! I got a chance to work with children and enjoy nature at the same time. Double whammy! I love spending time outdoors walking around my neighborhood, going on hiking trails, going camping with my family, and swimming. I also enjoy making all kinds of arts and crafts and playing board games. After graduating college, I married the love of my life and we have 3 boys ages 19, 17, and 13. During that time, I worked in Title 1 Schools that had a lot of ESOL students. I enjoyed working with this population of students, so I got my ESOL Endorsement. Shortly after that, an ESOL teacher retired at my school, so I moved into her position and have been in that position for the past 5 years. After my first year, I wanted to learn more about language learners, so I went back to school and got my master's degree at Georgia State University in Elementary Education with a concentration in Dual Immersion.I am a lifelong learner. Even today, after working all day at school, I come home and watch webinars, take extra classes, and read books to enrich my craft. I strive to find the most engaging, meaningful, and effective activities to help my students learn. Some of the trainings I have participated in are Orton Gillingham, LETRS (Science of Reading), and Kapan (Cooperative Learning).I love to teach all content areas, but what I have found over the years is that using science helps engage students to get them excited about learning. Most children love science experiments and learning about the world around them. Making learning meaningful is important. If students are invested in their learning, they are more motivated and excited about learning. Once you plant that seed, students will run with it and be lifelong learners, problem solvers, and contributing members of society. It is more than just learning the standards; it's giving students the tools they need to be successful. Once they have confidence in themselves, there is no stopping them.

While attending MCC I spent a lot of my time tutoring other students and children still in high school and below. While I tutor in a broad range of subjects, I am really passionate about English, and Public Speaking. In my experience, I find the most joy in seeing the improvement in students. I am fully aware that not every student is going to get an A. But when I see that a student is getting better, and their grade improves even in the slightest bit, I know that their brain in growing.
